Totally agree. There are many great dance movies around, but Helzapoppin beats them all. No, it does NOT make me want to get up and dance, because I could never pull off those moves. I just stare in awe! :)
I met Jean Veloz (the woman in #20 and #5) and was even part of a group selfie with her in the elevator at Camp Hollywood, a yearly swing event in LA. She helped lead one of the workshops, and even at 94 she was mesmerizing to watch! Truly one of the greats, and an absolute legend in the swing dancing community!
This was lovely!! I have been swing dancing for over 20 years and I’m so thankful for the 90’s swing revival!!! There is Lindy all over the world now. Thanks for sharing this!
It’s such a remarkable thing to see how well the older films shot the dance numbers vs. modern films. No fancy lighting effects, no constant editing cuts, just plant the camera and let the dancers do their thang!
I'm so glad Hellzapoppin' is listed as #1! I was going to be sad if it hadn't been. I got to take a couple of Lindy workshops from Frankie Manning who was in that scene. He was incredibly nice and super passionate about the dance, it's history, and teaching it to others. It's exciting to see the film get a little love.
Working the grief out through dancing. When I found myself in grief as a youngster, I danced my head off in clubs with friends. I didn’t dance during the week, so I took up running and ran marathons for 20 years of my life, up to age 50. Once menopause hit, I now dance in my home when feeling low or sad about something. Close the blinds, turn up the music and go crazy as best I can….It really does help 😂
As a former swing dancer. In a group. I loved to see this. The music that are most popular to go out at weekends- here in Norway, are the places where they play swing music. We even have a Scandinavian name on these kind of bands. " Danseband".
Fabulous to watch all these amazing dance scenes. The old movies take me back quite a few years, when I first saw many of the dance scenes featured here in these videos. A walk down memory lane! 😊
Wow, All Till favorite Ms Mojo!!! I competed in jitterbug for many of my youthful years. I watched several of these black-and-white movies on TCM and always wanted more. I was too young to pay attention to the titles and I’m so thankful you’ve listed these. Although I always competed in country and western nightclubs and dance halls, I am a huge Lindy fan. And thanks to you. I know the name “Whitey’s Lindy Hoppers.❤ kids these days don’t know what they’re missing out on.
I absolutely LOVE swing. This is from my Mom's era!!! When I discovered my Mom danced like this I was beyond happy, proud and of course completely blown away!! I come from Disco era and that was super fun, BUT Disco is NOTHING like swing!!! One of my regrets in life, not following through with my desire to learn to SWING dance!!! Oh and the movie "Blast From The Past" with Brendan Frasier, is one of my FAVORITE movies!!! 🌟 💕
You needed to include the "Begin The Beguine" number danced by Fred Astaire and Eleanor Powell in "Broadway Melody Of 1940". One of the best and most precise dance numbers EVER!
While I absolutely love that dance sequence and agree that the pairing of Eleanor Powell and me Fred Astaire was first class, the problem is it's not true swing dancing as shown in this list. Really, really hope Ms Mojo do more lists that show amazing movies from the past both black and white and colour. Including highlighting three amazing different types and styles of dance that were around. Hey they could even do videos highlighting the silent movies and some of their greatest stars and the stunts they did all without the health and safety rules of today. Which makes them twice, if not three times more terrifying.
My parents danced in jitterbug concerts! They met at a USO dance at the end of WW2. He was handsome in his uniform with his dark curly hair & blue eyes, my mom beautiful with thick brown hair, big brown eyes, full luscious lips & gorgeous smile. He said she was only 100 lbs and he could toss her easier than his military duffle bag!😊🇺🇸💖
I don't care what anyone says, 1941 is a very good movie. The reason why it received bad reviews is because people thought John Belushi had a much bigger role versus the few scenes that he had. Every scene with slim Pickens in the Japanese submarine were hilarious.
Lo que más me impresiona del swing es lo acrobático que es, aparte de la velocidad con la que se baila, las acrobacias son espectaculares, no como ahora que solo mueven la parte de atrás y ya se creen bailarines Saludos desde Cantabria, España
Surprised you didn’t mention that was Madonna dancing(sans black hair) in “A League of Their Own”. A great movie by the way!!! Geena Davis, Tom Hanks, and Rosie O’Donnell too.
Thank you doing this collection, I was aware of every clip but Sventeen Again. Can you please tell, what is that number called and by who? I can find it nowhere.
Because it's not swing dancing. This is not a video about best dance movie. It's about the specific dance style "Swing". Just as the Footloose movie wouldn't be included in a list of movies about tap dancing or Waltzing, American Smooth or ballet. They need to do a film about 80's dance styles for that film to be included in.
I'm so glad you honoured Helzapoppin as the greatest dance scene in the history of the cinema. It is truly wonderful.

That's awesome!!
What a lovely beautiful memory 🥰😍 thank you so much for sharing this with us ❤️🤗
Came here for Blast from the Past and left with 19 new favourite movies. Best Ms.Mojo in years.

I love watching swing dance.
Loved Swing Kids. Glad it was included.
Twice! :D

I don't dance, I don't like to dance, I don't care to dance, but show me a good Swing dance scene and you got me hooked 🕺💃

Anybody who likes swing might also enjoy the video for Brian Setzer's "Jump, Jive and Wail"
I've been a fan of Brian Setzer since he was in Stray Cats when I was 5
@bronwentillman8385 he's so good, love the cool cat vibe
Brian's music makes my feet move! I can't help myself LOL
@@PDoonan never stop👍
@PDoonan Dirty Boogie was his best album
Glad you picked up on my hint about Swing dancing!!!
@robinsmith5442 great idea "rockin' Robin!
Not me clicking this knowing EXACTLY what number 1 would be ❤
Swing and Big Band Grew up lovin' it well into the 70's.
Fabulous to watch all these amazing dance scenes. The old movies take me back quite a few years, when I first saw many of the dance scenes featured here in these videos. A walk down memory lane! 😊
😊😊 my parents could dance to swing music 🎶 I loved watching them 😊
There is one other that needs an honorable mention. Its the dance scene in The Canterville Ghost. Its very sweet.
My my my ,Dr Wilson!
Hard to believe it’s the same actor! Not to mention Christian Bale. Boy can they move!

I 💕 seeing those romantic dance scenes! Those dance moves are as cute, adorable, and romantic as the drum beats they dance to! 🎶🪩💕
Absolutely love the movie Blast From The Past. Especially the dance scene.
I remember watching one of them. is to make me feel happier
"Sing, sing sing with a swing". Happy sunday night, Emily, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
No more swing dancing for me...
Haha. the greeting of the whole country? Have an exciting Sunday night
@@NDKMovieMunchies not precisely of the whole country, but i always want to tell people from where i'm watching them
Hello again Samuel. How are you doing?
@NDKMovieMunchies Lol. You again? I hope you have an exciting Sunday night too.
Swing Kids is a great movie all around, messaging also very relevant to this time. Music and dancing great.

what great memories you must have!

Every scene with slim Pickens in the Japanese submarine were hilarious.
Now do Top 20 Busby Berkeley dance sequences.
Blast from the Past is one of my favorite movies.
Thr swing kids❤
Do top Latin style dances in movies!!!
That’s one of the reasons I love the 1940’s.
i'd pictured your # 1 choice as being # 2. what i'd thought would be # 1 was the famous nicholas bros dance with cab calloway's band.
I think the Nicklas bros clip is more tap than swing. I could be wrong
In the Rockabilly scene 💕you'll see lots of Jivin' (Swing) at these shows!
being a part of the 1990's revival, ALL OF THEM!!
I love it.
Lo que más me impresiona del swing es lo acrobático que es, aparte de la velocidad con la que se baila, las acrobacias son espectaculares, no como ahora que solo mueven la parte de atrás y ya se creen bailarines

1941 Has To Be One Of Steven Spielberg Most Forgotten Movie
One of my favourite films.
My mother was a member of the whitey's lindy hoppers
I recommend the video to Christina Aguilera's Candy Man as well - featuring Benji Schwimmer who's a pro at West-Coast Swing!
Surprised you didn’t mention that was Madonna dancing(sans black hair) in “A League of Their Own”. A great movie by the way!!! Geena Davis, Tom Hanks, and Rosie O’Donnell too.
One of the best I’ve seen was Jerry Lewis and Sheree North.
I give a like just for White's Lindey Hoppers
What movie makes me want to get up and dance all of them
Thank you doing this collection, I was aware of every clip but Sventeen Again. Can you please tell, what is that number called and by who? I can find it nowhere.
We lost Hinton Battle who choreographed _Idlewild_ recently.
I was lucky enough to see Dorothy Donnegan live in the early 1970s.
Swing swing swing ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Im currently watching Robert Sean Leonard in house
Mulholland Drive opening should be #1
The video for 'Zoot Suit Riot' by Cherry Poppin' Daddies is a lot more fun than this clip, if you like swing dancing ....
I just thought I knew how to jitterbug.
Jungle book won it for me.
Finally, black dancers are in the first (and third, shoulda been 2nd as well) place.
I miss this, when you could walk up to any lady and ask her to dance. No pretence. No pickup lines. Just swingin'.
Stanwick busts out a coffee grinder, what?
You left out "My Blue Heaven" Steve Martin
The movies seem to have choreographed all the dances. I dont think the dances were choreographed in the clubs. Everyone did their own thing.
As usual msmojo always produces a lot of drek
And you can enjoy the Marx brothers in "A Day at the Races"
I disagree with The Mask and Idlewild being so low in the list... Nice list though...
No O'Connor and Ryan making it funny?
How could you not include Kevin Bacon in Footloose?
Because there was o swing dancing in that movie
Because it's not swing dancing. This is not a video about best dance movie. It's about the specific dance style "Swing". Just as the Footloose movie wouldn't be included in a list of movies about tap dancing or Waltzing, American Smooth or ballet. I'm worn out. 😅
Let's not forget folks, swing music and swing dancing came from a time when they had actual cocaine in coca cola
Coca Cola eliminated cocaine from their coke by 1929
Not exactly, the cocaine was removed from coke by 1904, swing came later.
Поменьше разговоро. Больше музыки и танцев.
So much wrong with the choices. Absolutely no idea, except no 1, SING SING SING no 2 ?????????
Ummm "the dancers"? That's Madonna. How you not even going to say her name? Shame on you
You guys are really scrapping the bottom of the barrel for this one aren't you
Absolutely not! Given the rest of the comments. You may not like it, but clearly plenty others do.
@@hellrose18 go watch something else, then
Swing dance is kinda stupid.
