Definitely a gotta have truck gun! Have wanted a Sub 2000 for a long time! Better save my pennies and get one before I get too old! 😊 Great review HR! Thanks!
Appreciate the review and your totally entitled to your opinion but the Gen 3 Trigger is Metal(Aluminum) so that’s an upgrade in itself and they also did spring upgrades on it so it should be better but respect how you feel about it
I got my G3 a week ago. Finally got it to the range, i was waiting on my fixed barrel spacer to show up. Only put about a 100 rounds of mixed 9mm thru it. Had about 4-5 jams, should be fine after more break-in. Very accurate with a red dot at 25-50yds, 1"-2.5" groups. Very happy with my first Kel-Tec...
I can see your point on this one. Concealment, handy, better in certain situations than a pistol. For my purposes, the chance of being in that type of situation, might be extremely rare.
Minneapolis here. Since 2020, it's been one Leftist street level violence rationalized "cause" after another in the city limits, sometimes suburbs. Even fall 2023 with Oct 7th terrorist supporters blocking streets and attacking the elderly in their cars. To me, HR's points are salient.
I've never been a KelTec fan before this. After watching your video I have to say, there might be something to it. Thanks for taking the time to show and explain the reasons for owning one. While it was not on my list of things to research, it is now.
I picked up my Gen 2 the day after Christmas '23. It's a G19 gun, and the grip profile is identical to the G3 you are showing. The G19 mag fills that empty space perfectly.
To fold it, you pull down on the trigger guard. To unfold it, you push the button in the stock to release it. If you just force it open, you could wear out the tab that mates with the M-LOK And it won’t stay closed. Bad idea to just pull it open.
I wasn't aware of the Gen3 , until I started looking into 9mm carbines. I've considered Ruger's Backpacker 9mm, but the KelTec is $300 less at a local dealer. Nice review. From FL.
My local gunshop calls it the 'pizza-rifle', because it comes in a generic brown pizza box, lol! I bought my Gen2 9 months ago, and I love it to no end! I added the factory rubber butt-pad, and modified the charge handle slightly for a better grip. Otherwise, I enjoy it as-is, 100%!
👍👍great review. I would hope they eventually make it compatible with other magazines since all my 9mms are smith & Wesson. I would probably still go with the gen 2 for that reason. Thanks for the video.
Nice review with great close ups HR. Unfortunately I'm in WA, where only LE and criminals will have these since our unconstitutional 'assault weapon' ban went into effect.
@@Eyespyd Not the USA in general, however some states such as Washington, have decided what an 'assault weapon' is, and have banned sales of them or any parts for them plus mags with capacity over 10 rounds. . I now cannot legally order parts for my AR for instance, or mags over 10 rounds for even my Ruger 10-22.
If they offer the gen 3 with Beretta mags I will consider it as I have the gen 2 to go with the 92 series pistols. My gen 2 works well and my slight gripe is it's a little hard to get behind the iron sights. Being able to fold/compactness is why I chose the Kel Tec over the Beretta rifle..along with price. Thanks for your presentation.
The new "preserve optic" fold is the winning feature along with cost. Beats a Ruger PCC price by nearly 50%. And I love 40S&W as a real hard hitting round, making Carbine length that much better. It's a win for what it is 👍 Looking forward to the range review.
@@indycharlie during the shortage they were going for $900+. I just checked, Ruger just released a new 45ACP carbine and it's on Brownells for $777. So, not as bad as I thought. That would be a good comparable. But I like the Glock mags of the Keltec too. Easy to find serious gangsta extendo mags 😂
OK thanks . I was wondering, BC I bought the " backpacker " model a few yrs ago for like $789 or so . Yeah , I like the looks and vid's I have seen on that 45 ACP a LOT !! $777 sounds like a great buy IMO . Hmmm.... @@hoffpbass
Very well done review ! I wonder if the 3 "locks in " harder due to the swivel of the barrel for better lock-up , or maybe better accuracy ? IMHO . It would be very cool to see the 2 for comparison when you take the 3 to the range regarding accuracy :D
The thing that kept me from getting the new Smith & Wesson was that it didn't take Glock mags & I'm kinda stuck with Glock in my part time job. I never liked the way the Kel Tec folded until now. I hope the range review turns out to be as good as the older gen guns since I think a pcc would serve me a bit better than an AR.
I have the Gen 2 and the pistol grip is different than your Gen 2. My pistol grip looks more like a Gen 3 grip. I wonder why this is? I double checked your video and my pinky falls off the grip as Gen 3's grip. I've also had issues with extended magazines, while almost no issues with the 15 round capacity magazines. With the extended magazines, there is no hard stop the 15 round magazine's "feet" provide and I found you have to be extra careful to not get overly enthusiastic about slapping the magazine in further which will cause problem extracting the spent round and feeding the following round. I've been using only 15 round clip since as I'm concerned about the reliability of the extended round and its ability to seat properly. Also, I'm sticking with iron sights to keep the platform simple with Gen 2. Thought about the Mcarbo mount for optics, but not too crazy about the additional bulge. Sometimes, I do mount a red dot underneath and will take out and mount on top, but can understand it's not the most practical solution, but it's there if needed, but zeroing may not be as consistent as your solution. Regardless, thanks for the review. Semper Fi.
There were 2 different Glock compatible Gen 2 Models. The one that would accept G19 magazines was made to the same dimensions as the Gen 3. Those the would only accept the G17 (and longer) magazines were the same size as my Gen 2.
Shoutout to Mcarbo. The savior for the sub2k. Such needed mods for the gen 2s, this gen 3 seems to answer big things Ive seen others change via Mcarbo mods.
@@hrfunk Thanks for sharing your review, by the way! I'm a Gen 2 user and I love the cabine. To deploy it, I found that putting my thumb in the gap in front of the latch and the other fingers on the buttstock pulling it open is way faster than using two fingers to pull the latch.
I love the generel idea of the sub 2000. mine is a gen 2 full size glock mag (17) version. I love the idea of my duty gun and my laptop case gun using the same magazines. my optic setup is less than optimal. I have a QD riser with a Riton red dot. I love that thing but just another level of time consuming to put on and off for use and storage. I do have tightly wound ductape on the charging handle for both girth and minimal twang reduction.
@@hrfunk Less flex. On my Gen 2 I put an M-Carbo in it and it felt better. Not a big deal and I know I am splitting hairs, just a preference. Both triggers work well. Your mileage may differ.
The older iron sights sucked, and most people tried to replace them anyway. Iron sights should be backups, not primaries anymore. We live in the future. The new charging handle is not for "recoil mitigation". That's silly. It's just much much more comfortable to use. Most people hated the G2 trigger and trigger pull, and was a common upgrade. I have to agree with you funk, on the fixed sights. If a firearm comes without sights, that's definitely not ideal to say the least.
That seems to be a disturbing trend with PCC's and "sporting rifles" these days.
You can always add some quality iron sights on that long rail. NOT an issue at all except for people who can’t afford quality, dependable optics.
