Brilliant, I have Asperger's so when I do something for the first time I rely on instructions. If the instructions are bad I get really annoyed and feel like a failure. So it's really helpful to see you troubleshooting and fixing the instructions. Thank you! Lovely result, might try this for a gift for a super couple I met yesterday. Love from sunny Scotland
Hi Mackenzie! Have you thought about selling supplies in your shop alongside your finished pieces? It's so difficult for us beginners to know what to buy . Another excellent tutorial . Thank you for taking the time x
Hey there! I have 2 videos on all the supplies you'll need, but I can definitely do a very clear quick updated list video. I wouldn't feel right selling products, because I would have to mark them up. Idk. Maybe if I could get a discount on bulk or something. You've planted the seed for sure. Lol
You are such a great teacher! I ordered the 40 Projects book and am currently working on this one. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get iridescent glass, but I will probably make another when one at some point. I think it’s amazing that you are self taught!
Found your channel and have been binge watching, you are such a breath of fresh air!! Now I have the book and yesterday I bought the glass I’m going to use for this project this weekend. Thank you so much for your clear instructions, I need them :-). Love from England x
The glass is super pretty!! Also I love your channel, you take time to fully explain the whole process to making glass art. How do you clean your glass pieces?
OMG you are so amazing i love your instruction on this as i have all the items to make this and to be abel to watch from start to finish is flipping amazing thank you so much i love that you are doing these keep up the wonderful job
Absolutely. So just like we do with grinding glass on a glass grinder, you want to rinse all that "glass mud" & glass shards off of your glass. Once in a clean water bucket, and then in the sink for a final rinse. (Bucket is to prevent ANY glass mud from going down the drain, it will destroy it.) Think of it as sand you may or may not be able to physically see. So, we wash it off to not only just clean it in general, but if any residue is left on that glass when you go to wrap the edges with copper foil, it will not stick properly. Loosing the structural integrity of your piece once soldered.
Looks ace! One thought, though - instead of trimming the wire at the top of the piece and then adding a jump ring, wouldn't it be easier and stronger to bend a loop in the top of the wire?
Definitely not. A jump ring is always going to be stronger in both the short and long term, especially for a piece with some weight! Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much for this video! Do you recommend a certain brand of wire or jump ring. I’ve never purchased them before and want to make sure I get a decent quality.
Omg I get so friggin excited when I see a new video by you! Thanks for sharing this fun project with us ♡ I can wait to do this today... question where do you get your chain from your local glass store? Mine doesnt have any :(
Ugh I feel so bad. SO, yes, local is always the answer. Unfortunately, with all online chains and jump rings, I've found throughout the years the quality control is just shit. So I can't in good conscience link any. Should something happen, then that pieces fate is on me. I just don't feel comfortable. Just start at Google and type in exactly what your looking for and go down the rabbit hole. Figure out the size and type your looking for first. I'm sorry man. 😞 think outside the box, as far as what the chain is "marketed" as.
That's tough. Yes. Stained glass can be outside. Do I suggest it? No. The chances of that stray branch or to rough of wind destroying it is just to high. Of coarse if you live in a gentle climate area, with little severe weather. Totally go for it!
Unfortunately chain and jump loops are the ONLY thing I will not put a link or suggestion too. Because so many online retailers of chain and jump rings vary so much as far as quality consistency from pack to pack, its just not something I'm comfortable suggesting. If your local shops don't have any, just start at Google for whatever it is your looking for and go down the rabbit hole till you find it. I'm sorry!!!
Do you leave your foil holder out all the time, or put it into an airtight container? Asking as I had an instructor say to foil right away and seal foil as it oxidizes. However, I live in a very dry climate (Alberta) and been hearing that people can leave foil out for a month without issues and that humid environments make it oxidize within days.
So yes foil can absolutely oxidize, does it do it in days, no. Do I seal mine, no. But I also go through many many rolls of solder in a month so I'm not the best example I don't think. I live in New England, can get very humid. Buying already shitty foil is probably more likely! Imo!
Hello! So we do this as to not destroy the plumbing. There is so much glass dust and sand on our pieces after cutting and grinding, you need to rinse it in a clean water bucket at LEAST once before taking it to a regular indoor sink. The sand will build up so badly and clog the pipe/turn to a glass mud cement and it will STINK too!
Wow so pretty!! Wish it could’ve stayed copper that was sooo gorgeous!!
Very interesting and helpful
Idk why but watching you solder is so satisfying lol...beautiful work!
Lol!! Well either way, thank you for watching!
Wow, Kenz, that's so pretty and it looks so simple that I could probably do that! Thank you for demoing it for us! I'm in love with it!
Absolutely. So glad you enjoyed it! Give it a go & thank you for watching!

Holy crap that is gorgeous!!!!
Thank you Wendy!!
cant wait to try this. yours is so pretty!!
So do you flush the glass water? If you don’t take them straight to the sink what would we do with the left over water from the bowl? Thank you!!!
WOW BEAUTIFUL. I will try it. I own that book. I love watching you. You are so helpful. Thank you.
Thank YOU for watching!
Great job, you have a super way of explaining instructions so anyone can understand.!!

Thank you! It does look fantastic on camera, I’m sure in person it’s outstanding, your glass choice was fantastic!
Thank you so much! It's always so much better in person, the only downside of iridescent glass! Lol!
That turned out beautiful!
Thank you!!
Absolutely beautiful!!
Thank you!!!
I love your videos. could share a link to the chain you use?
Super cool! Have you made a lamp yet? I would love to see a video on that! Or a glass box!
You are such a great teacher! I ordered the 40 Projects book and am currently working on this one. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get iridescent glass, but I will probably make another when one at some point. I think it’s amazing that you are self taught!
Hi Mackenzie, what kind of carbide stone did you use for the edges?
Found your channel and have been binge watching, you are such a breath of fresh air!! Now I have the book and yesterday I bought the glass I’m going to use for this project this weekend. Thank you so much for your clear instructions, I need them :-). Love from England x
So glad your enjoying my channel!! Thank you for watching!!
Looks great!
Thank you Kat! 🖤
Love your work, would you mind doing the Decorative light switch cover from the book "40 great stained glass projects.
Thanks
I can absolutely put that on the list my friend!
Beautiful!!
Thank you!!!
Love this one, are you going to restock these on etsy? I'd love to buy one ❤️
What is the large mat on your desk? I’ve been looking fur something large and haven’t found one. Thanks!
So pretty
Thank you!! 🖤🖤🌈🌈
The glass is super pretty!! Also I love your channel, you take time to fully explain the whole process to making glass art. How do you clean your glass pieces?
Right in the sink with warm soapy water and a good scrub. Nothing insane bristled, soft bristle scrub brush. So glad your enjoying!
OMG you are so amazing i love your instruction on this as i have all the items to make this and to be abel to watch from start to finish is flipping amazing thank you so much i love that you are doing these keep up the wonderful job
Thanks so much,this is beautiful.👊☕️🍩
Thank you Mindy! 🖤
Thank you!!!!
🖤🖤🖤🖤
Can you explain why you put the glass into water after you use the stone?
Absolutely. So just like we do with grinding glass on a glass grinder, you want to rinse all that "glass mud" & glass shards off of your glass. Once in a clean water bucket, and then in the sink for a final rinse. (Bucket is to prevent ANY glass mud from going down the drain, it will destroy it.) I love it
I just use spacers for ceramic tile. They're cheap and available in many thicknesses.
Thank you so much for this video!
Do you recommend a certain brand of wire or jump ring. I’ve never purchased them before and want to make sure I get a decent quality.

Thanks for your honest advice I really appreciate it! ♡
Anytime dude, just like with anything, you get what you pay for. Super cheap chain, is gunna probably suck. 🖤
This is so pretty. Do you think it would hold up outside in the sun?
That's tough. Yes. Stained glass can be outside. Do I suggest it? No. The chances of that stray branch or to rough of wind destroying it is just to high. Of coarse if you live in a gentle climate area, with little severe weather. Totally go for it!
That patina is dark! You need a video on how you do this step ♥️♥️
I do it in other videos! It's the same way everyone else does, but I've gotten this comment alot. I have zero clue why I can get it so dark!!
Hi, what can I use for oil for the pistol grip cutter? Thanks
Any cutting oil for glass cutters. The realist in me says it's just 3 in 1, in a different bottle, but I specifically use a cutting oil nowadays!
how do you tin the sharp point without tearing it?
Love this!! Where do you get you cable chain? I’m having the hardest time finding that size.
Unfortunately chain and jump loops are the ONLY thing I will not put a link or suggestion too. @@MakenzieHallie consistently is a problem for sure. It’s crazy.
No worries.
It's so frustrating. I remember even size consistency was an issue too.
How do you get rid of your glass mud?
I give it about an hour to settle in the grinder. Use a putty scraper to scrape it out into a plastic bin. Then dispose of the dirty water outside.
Nice
Thanks

Hi Makenzie, you stated not to rinse your freshly sanded pieces in the sink. First rinse in a tub.. why is this?
Hello! So we do this as to not destroy the plumbing.
