I liked what you said about Cairhein and Caemlyn being so distinct from each other. It's a major part of where the magic comes from in Jordan's world; everything feeling so lived in. What's particularly brilliant about it is that he doesn't use tropey distinctions like "Here's the European style city, and now here's the Arabian city." No. They're just two random cities, similar in size, influence, and economic power, but which, like you said, have their own very different identities. I read the Lanfear "mystery" as being played mostly for jokes, and maybe something more sinister from Lanfear's end. Selene is set up from the moment we see her as the most obviously sketchy person alive, like she's not even trying, but Rand and the boys are so psychologically annihilated by her that they can't see two feet in front of them. The reveal at the end was just to put a lid on it in case anyone wasn't already convinced it was her. Loving the reviews so far.
Thank you! The world is just so incredible and well fleshed out. It honestly blows me away in every book. Reading book 4 now and it’s just so well done. Yeah the Lanfear thing was a little confusing but that’s a great explanation!
Regarding your question why are they pushing him to channel: Because there is no way he can win the Last Battle if he doesn't know how to channel. What happens if he goes mad before then? Bad luck I guess :P I cannot say anymore because of spoilers but know that the books handle this issue really well.

The Lanfear thing was supposed to be obvious.
Great review
Thank you!
@@BetweentheLinesJulian Circling back on this after finishing the book - agree with everything said!

Thank you for clearing that up! Hahah fair enough, I guess I’ll have to be patient and wait and see
The x-ray vision feature is the worst! Great review though, I can’t wait to read number 3.
So excited! Can’t wait to kick off the new year with book 3
