This is the book I recommend when people are vaguely interested in reading WoT. "Just finish book 4 then decide!"
I LOVED this book. Tam is...by far...my favorite character in the series so seeing him be the amazing person he is in the two rivers.
This was absolutely my favorite book *until* Towers of Midnight for reasons you said in your predictions 😂 yep some of those are pretty close but it's a long wait. A well worth it wait!
So TSR is my personal 2nd favorite book.
Loved the review!
There's a reason this book is titled The Shadow Rising.
I agree the Shadow Rising is awesome. I've read the entire series and I put this one as my 2nd or 3rd favorite of the entire series. Happy you're enjoying these!
They’re great! So happy I started this series and can’t wait to continue.
Great review Julian! I also enjoyed this book but I don’t think it was my favourite. I definitely loved some of the storylines and character arcs you mentioned but at times I got confused between the perspectives or what was going on. I’m listening to the audio book and there’s not always a clear break or change, which is probably the reason I got confused. Maybe in the future I’ll read the books. Keep up the great work!
I can see how things would be a bit more confusing through audio as opposed to the book. I hope you enjoy #5!
that intro really got me, I'm really looking forward to shadow rising
I hope you enjoy it!
I haven't even read this book but 0:00 - 0:07 is the best book review i have ever seen
First time on your channel but will be back :) you got a like and a sub for saying “also, f*** gawyn” 🤣
Also, i wouldnt recommend reading new spring till after book ten personally, when it was published. Theres a character in NS that imo youre much better off being introduced to in the main series
Thank you for the advice! Just subbed to your channel as well. And yeah seriously f*** that guy, he’s the worst
@@BetweentheLinesJulian Most of my videos have spoilers but there is usually a warning :) just wanted to give a heads up haha
I'm currently reading book 2 and i plan to finish in a few days
Loved book 2! Such a fun adventure from start to finish
@@BetweentheLinesJulian i just finished book 2 and it was much better than book 1. Also, as of right now, my top 5 fav characters are:
1. Rand
2. Perrin
3. Mat
4. Lan
5. Loial
@@thecomicdirector8417 that’s great! I’m happy you enjoyed book 2. The final act of that book was so well done. I think right now my favorites are Lan, Perrin, and Rand.
Hey thanks for the review. I loved the fourth book and agree that Jordan must have listened to complaints about the first 3 and fixed some of the issues. In his defense, I can't even imagine developing a world and storyline like this, it's understandable that he may lack on some of the interpersonal relationships between the characters and some of their development.
Kind of random but I don't see a lot of people talking about this aspect of the story, what do you think of the implication that Rand will have multiple lovers or wives even? Based on Min's visions in the third book and the fact that we know Min and Elayne both seem to be in love with him it seems to be leading to an interesting dynamic. Also the introduction of Aviendha and the Aiel having sister-wives seems to indicate he may have up to 3 wives. Jordan seems to have a reason to put things like that in a story and I guess I'm trying to figure out why that would be part of it?
Thanks for watching :) to be honest I haven’t thought a ton about that plot line, I’m just kind of seeing where it goes but somewhat hoping it doesn’t turn into a sister-wives situation. I could see it happening where he has relationships with them in turn, but I’ll just have to wait and see!
Haha f*** Gawyn. That guy sucks.
Glad to hear you loved TSR. What did you think of the way-back ter’angreal (the crystal columns)?
Loved loved loved that sequence. Couldn’t believe what I was reading. Didn’t expect the book to get that deep into the history and lore but it was done so well!
I'm hesitant to read these books. Just feels daunting and not necessarily worth it. I appreciate this wide lens you provide, almost makes me want to start at book 4?
Book 4 was incredible but I’d highly recommend starting at book 1. It does such a great job of introducing you to the world and tells a great story that lays the foundation of what’s to come. And if you’re not clicking with it, then that’s okay!
Great review, but I am concerned about your health. You seem far too pale, and you have far too baggy and darkened eyes for someone living a well-balanced and healthy life style. You are obviously not getting the nutrients that you need, or you are not getting enough sleep at night.
