Stealth Camping at the Airport in a Tiny Car

- Sorry I missed you guys this past Sunday! To make up, I decided to go out and film a different style video than usual. I've "stealth" camped in the past, but this was my first time doing it in a place where I really had to be sneaky; luckily I had a tiny, unsuspecting car to do it in.
Sit back, grab a beer, grab a coffee & enjoy!

Nothing like sleeping in an airport to make you appreciate sleeping in nature!
Ha, very true!!
Nice Yench! Love a good stealth camp. Kind of paying homage to Steve Wallis during his rough time.
Yes!!!
That's the 1st thing I thought when I saw yench was doing a stealth camp vid
Agreed! #RipBeautifulWife
Yeah dude same thought i had.
Doin' it for Steve! AT least thats what I thought as well.
The worst part is it cost $27 for a super uncomfy night 😂
fr, saw the price and was like...Oof
Here in Chicago/Ohare - 60.00 😒😒😒😕😕😕😕😕😩😩😩😩😩😩
Thus made me LAUGH thanks! : D
More than a campground I stay at with electric and water available!
Can you do more stealth camping episodes while Steve recovers from his tragic loss? It would be a great tribute to him.
That is a brilliant idea. It would be great if an episode was a fundraiser for the local food bank/shelter in honour of Steve's wife.
Definitely should look into a small USB powered fan to help you keep cool. They make smaller ones and you'd be able to use it in the camper too
He does realize that cameras are running throughout that parking lot! He’s so funny looking around like he’s being followed 😂 People sleep at the airport all the time.
I was thinking the same. Folks jet lagged, catching up on some sleep in their vehicle before they motor out. Seems like a non event.
I like the stealth camping 🏕
Thank you for doing a stealth camp video! My guy "Camping With Steve" hasn't uploaded for awhile because the poor guys wife died recently.
Please do more of this tiny car camping. It's challenging and not many people are doing it.
Thanks for cleaning my car! 😘
Awesome video! I have a Honda Fit just like that and plan on turning into a stealth camper
Very stealthy but I hope you’re able to find a way to make it more comfortable 😆
Very interesting in your stealth camping adventure, but you made the most of it with your positive attitude, thanks for posting this video. Stay safe and take care 🙂 🙏
It was hot because you were in an enclosed structure that has the wind blocked. If you had parked on top floor with no roof above it would have been better
The stealth camping vids are entertaining but the nature videos are definitely my favorite
Wow I'm surprised that the parking lot would be quiet! I'm so glad I didn't buy a Honda Fit instead I got the Prius V...so much easier to sleep in there comfortably as I just left the engine run all night long to keep me cool during a summer heatwave in L.A.... BTW they have magnetic shades to put up for boondocking puroses instead of using the trash bags.
Brilliant video, would be nice to see more of this type of video
Thank You Johnathan Your right not the airport you want to feel comfortable not worried if someone's going to knock on your windows.
The Jazz makes a comeback!
Looked uncomfortable for sure heat would have made me leave. But I am sure it was fun. Stay safe and enjoy your life
Can feel your pain with this one! Good job sticking it out. Thanks for always keeping it real!
I had a fit. Best compact to camp in ever !
Great video. Favorite part one OCD person to another. Vacuuming the car first! 😂 loved it. We recently tried to sleep in a van in a casino parking lot for the night until our room was ready. Bad idea with the heat of Vegas!
Good job finding this camper , it is perfect for your truck and a little guy like you.....Love the Bigfoot camper , it is the best. Don't destroy it and do a big make over , except electric components and clean up . This small camper is the best already....just need basic up grades......You are lucky to find it...
Yes! Got the “Woo!” at the end. Good video, keep doing what you’re doing, it’s all good!
The 2nd Gen fit may be a “tiny car” but let’s be honest. That thing has a LOT more cargo space than most cars that are much larger. Able to put the back seats down, or even recline them.
I had the exact same car and a trick to sleeping in one is removing the front seats headrests and reclining it all the way back to rest on the back seats, then recline the back seats and you have yourself a comfy place to sleep with leg rests. Also under the left rear seat is a hidden storage compartment. Loved that car.
That's what a hand gun permit is for 👊
Really love your videos.
Cheers from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Thanks for the support!!
Literally, there is no place like Home! Meaning at least some decent privacy like your camper truck setup. ☕️☕️👍🏻🇺🇸
I once spent weekend in back of a Ford Focus that the back seats folded down, I had nephew take out back seat and put in foam cushions from a couch to sleep on, cover all the windows with black plastic ok r towels for privacy and slept comfortably all weekend( Friday-Sunday)
Thank you for the content and for share your ideas.
The trash bags are a great idea! Maybe an electric generator &/or a portable fan would have helped? Very industrious to cook. I'd have packed a sandwich. I could see doing this for a VERY early flight. Just get up and get on the plane.
P.S. Your cat is adorable!
RIP beautiful wife.
What an awesome switch up from the normal camping routine. Always enjoy your videos. ☝️👍 Sifu of Stealth
Before Fred and I met my daughter and I car camped in a Hyundai Accent for a month as we traveled from VA to Washington State via the North and then drove down to Southern California back to VA. We had a blast but it was tight. Thank you for sharing your adventure. Mary💕Fred
i love the fact that you cooked there
Switching up is interesting nut love your more outdoorsy adventures
AWWW Thanks for sharing the kitty lovin with us. I love that cat.
I stealth camp all the time in my Honda Civic Hatchback - make window covers out of cardboard inserts then just push them in place on the inside of your windows, takes only 20 seconds, no tape.
I live right on top of stansted airport here in the Uk and it’s probably cheaper to stay in a B&B than pay for the airport parking . It’s shocking how expensive it is .
That was for the birds … trying to help you with the missing nature aspect 🙃. 🤣😂🤣
Thanks Johnathan. As rent prices and everything else continues it's skyward trajectory, it might be interesting to know how to stealth camp in the car. It would be cool if you could show us as many different places that are on the safer side and where you can get away with staying in the car without being bothered by the police, other people, rabid raccoons, etc.
seriously? I am an officer and we don't give a shit about people sleeping in their vehicles under these circumstances.
I'm turning my Honda fit into a camper dope to see we are on the same flow!
A little fan would have been nice. I would have eaten a small can of baked beans. Or anything rather than cooking in that heat! Nice cat! Still interesting experience to view.
A can of baked beans in that tiny confined space!? 💣 That'd be trouble 🤣
Since you pay to use their parking garage, what’s it to them if you choose to “wait for your flight” in your car?
Easy cheaper way to cover those windows...go to Walmart, buy the black poster board (I think it's like 97 cents a piece), cut em out in the shape of each window and pop em right in. They stay in place perfect and you can't see em from the outside at night (provided you have some form of tint)
I've always wondered how staying in a hospital parking lot would be like. I wouldn't on a weekend, but I think I would feel safe if it wasn't to noisy.
I’ve done it twice and it’s cool.
You can try a rechargeable camping fan on the hotter nights sleeping in the car. That's what I do.
man I slept on the floor at an airport in Paris but the dang floor buffing machines are so loud at 3am !
Appreciate your work Jonathan 🙂
I dedicate my thumbs up to the memory of Beautiful Wife .
I have window shields on my windows to leave cracked open without being obvious and a way to secure my rear window a few inches open while still locked. My vehicle has an inverter so before bed, flip a switch and air up the mattress which is quite comfortable. Usually I do this on winter road trips to Florida but thinking about getting a slide in camper for our pickup. Less stealth but more enjoyable especially in a campground since I'll have a dog traveling with.
Kudos for doing this during a heat wave! 😄 I'm betting it seemed like a better idea when you thought of it dropping off Tess. Glad u made it 🤙
Think I'd prefer a hospital parking lot. People come & go lots there ,in & out of cars ,vehicles . No fee .
They might notice and call security. I’d rather just go undetected.
That's exactly why I don't clean the rear windows on my stealth camper, all that dirt/grime really makes it hard to see through.
I did a night in a Ford van in a KOA once. Worked out fine.
Very enjoyable Jonathan! Thanks for the idea.
If she had rain guards you could keep your windows open till the end of the rain guards and still have air flow . Nice job ✌🏼💯
If you are in a hot car don’t eat hot food-It will only make you sweat. Another great video👍🏻
Good stuff brotha! Just a little tip: use a credit card to push the trash bags between the glass and the plastic trim. It’s makes a perfect fit for the window plus there’s no need for tape 👍🏼
Nothing says “love” more than making fun of your partner’s filthy vehicle on a UA-cam video. Bravo!
Nice job! I would like to see more of this. I really enjoy watching your UA-cam.
Your video made me feel like I was sleeping in a car at the airport, I don't think I cared for it too much 😁 but I guess if it was something I had to do, then I would have to do it. I think the thing that would worry me most is someone coming and knocking on the window in the middle of the night, it would scare me. They probably have cameras in those parking lots.
USB fan with battery helps
I love the different adventures!
Love your video and what an adventure ! I probably would have had a cooler with a cold sandwich though !
Me personally I prefer beautiful scenic views of mother nature but you do whatever makes ya happy.
Hi Jonathan, thanks for sharing this experience. It does look kinda fun
Sleeping at the parking lot in the airport is a good idea when you have early flights.
This is awesome.
All of yr camera set ups and many edits make for one of a kind story telling, great job, look forward to yr next.
You can use a tiny magnatic to hold the trask bag on window
Ala Camping with Steve. It was nice of you to fill in for him while he is out.
Good 2do something different here & there. I'd watch more videos from u like this🙂. Interesting. Keep the regular videos comin & more like this✌️
You have a Jackery should of used a fan,,,,would be interesting to see how long it would run before battery dies...
I liked it! You did good, Jonathan. And by the way, I like the 4k video. Very crisp!
It would've been really bold if you got out of the car at 6:00am in your shorts and stick it to security 🤣🤣🤣 needless to say mission accomplished ❤
Love this type of content. Keep it up.
You should have done the same but in the long term parking lot. It's cheaper, the shuttle and the guards keep you save and it's less traffic.
Where u gonna go to the bathroom at dude? When Mother Nature calls you must answer. Why don’t you crank the car and turn on the A/C for a few minutes to cool down?
Gallon sized water jug 😃
I was thinking the exact same thing!
Well, if I ever get stuck at the airport (more likely than not with today's air travel!) I know how to work it! Also hospitals, etc. Thanks for the inspiration! Today this is a life skill! A good video!
Interesting video. Be careful using the stove in the car. You need more ventilation and a fire in enclosed space is dangerous even if small.. I like the adventure vids you do. When are you going fishing again - would like to see that. Also the how-to you did on curtains was informative as well.
As you were taping up the windows my claustrophobia set in😳
Loved LOVED the stealth car camping stuff dude, we ALL do!!!!!... Keep em'coming please JY 🤗👍🤘
WOW ! That didn’t look so comfy , but ya got thru it like a trooper ⭐️
I spent many nights IN the airport when I was a commuting flight ✈️ attendant ( 27 yrs ! ) but slept in a CREW LOUNGE .. not in a car . SO I commend you J for your super adventure in you !! Great tips for black out windows !! Thx for a fun size video and your airport camp ! ✈️
Any camping is cool, enjoyed watching 👍🏼👍🏼
Oh yeah I remember your last video where there was these weird noise at your camp sight just make sure your around other campers LOVE and GOD Bless You my friend.🤗
risk-taking adventure video 👍🙂
how sleeping in the airport
This is still an exciting video, I mean look at John’s skills. Also, it’s like please don’t let him get caught!
hey bro that was an amazing video. I loved it dude 💯💥
Time to make window covering and head out for more stealth camping.
Hospitals are good choices for urban stealth camping too.
For a short 4/5 hour slumber for a woman alone on a long trip, this is a safe inexpensive solution. Added plus, no hauling luggage to a motel room. Stealth airports it is.
Thanks
Stealth camping video was cool. You should sprinkle some in here and there
The older ppl (me included) watching are probably all like "what about shitting?". Haha. Once you get around 32+ of age or so doing stuff like that is definitely less possible because of the lack of a toilet
Or you just walk into the airport and use the bathroom
just crap in a bag & throw it at any thieves trying to steal your car.
@@stevejeffrey11 I'm gonna try this for sure next time
@@judomike4255 I was joking haha, but always bring a piss jug
some people use a bucket O_o
@@stevejeffrey11 haha I know you were joking, just playing
Fun video and good way to mix content up.
I've driven a Fit, they are tiny for sure. WELL DONE!
Honda Fit is a decent car to do that in, from my experience. Lots of room inside for a small car. I'm in Florida so the heat trapped inside cars is one reason I'd be hesitant to car camp at all, so am always fascinated by the videos of others doing it.
Glad we got our "whoo!" in this one at the end. 😁
You missed your chance to get a $10 USB fan at Walmart, homie! 🤣
