Nope baseball bat will just get the homeowner in trouble especially if he uses it, inner city kids these days also carry knives, best is no interaction just make your bike hard to steal and they won't try and steal it.
@@silverfazer8290 The first thief broke the steering lock. He has a disc lock at least and that stopped them from rolling it back, they're clearly not the guys with power tools, still scum though.

@@rickburnout666 cost me nearly a grand in cctv, got 2 of those cameras up now, a porch camera and a doorbell all the same make and continously recording, had to buy alot of ethernet cable and make the ends up to connect to the cameras and the nvr its self, worth every god dam penny

I also run a Reolink camera system it's very good indeed, the 4K images it captures are great, you can set it up so you get alerts, you can set it so that movement in a certain area only sends you an alert, he definitely needs better security though, not just a disc lock either, these were young kids but 3 to 4 slightly older kids would skateboard the front wheel, very often the home owner doesn't wake even when a very loud alarm goes off and if you go out there with your fists going you risk being stabbed and if you do slap one badly you will be arrested for assaulting a child, they know all this of course, best way is to make sure they can see the bike is secured, that way they go and steal a less secure bike.
Assaulting a child my ass mate, done on my own doorstep in self defence, theres NO LIMMIT to the force i can use, and as justification well thats easy, i got 3 kids asleep upstairs, i pitty any fool who starts a war on another mans doorstep.
Surely having a decent fence and gate helps deter
Truly an amazing camera system but I'd rather spend the money on alarmed disc locks or a heavy duty chain. A state of the art camera can't identify someone in a mask..... what if they came armed the first time??? Seriously, just a steering lock?? More money than common sense, I use more security on my ebike FFS. 🤷🤦
I'd rather not lock the steering so they won't break it, but chain both wheels and put a disc lock on it

It can really affect your sleep and your life when you have to go to bed every night wondering whether your going to have to jump up in an an instant to protect your property.
I had a few hairy encounters in the middle of the night and then your always waiting for it.
It’ll never stop because the justice system doesn’t hand out proper sentences

Second attempted theft, you can see a front disk lock, and hear it. Really need to chain through the frame to something solid though. Disklocks are first line only defence. Hopefully he has chain/s, with an anchor point now. Even if those thieving excrement get locked up, there are always more.
Really impressed with that camera system. The bikes alarm triggered but not to have a wheel lock is not a good idea. It buys the owner time and the scum won't like the extra time needed to release the bike.

The fact that they think its funny getting caught trying to steal someones possessions is a testament to how pathetic they are. I hope they look the wrong way on a road when an 18 wheeler is coming.
Trouble you have is they are kids, we had 2 16 year olds burgle our garage, caught on CCTV and apprehended, CPS didn't even prosecute them, the builder who caught one of them said the kid was just laughing at him, nothing happens to them, if you hit one of them the police will prosecute you, you aren't allowed to defend you personal property with violence sadly, the kids know this, the two that burgled us bragged about all this on social media, we would ask the police if they had spoke to them and the police said they can only ask them to come in for interview they can't force them.
Hopefully it's the last you will see of them, up the security a bit more with a chain and anchors and I'm sure you won't see them again.

Hikvision also make several cameras that can do this, even tracking with 30x zoom as cars or people go down the road etc.

the steering lock is rubbish, a decent chain and padlock would have helped, and shouting at them is no good, you need to go out and hurt them, or chuck a pot of paint over them

Mr plods and gated community money hoarders don't want you to defend yourself and loved ones. I personally couldn't give a shit what they want and would tapdance, with a smile on my face to the nearest police station and happily confess my brutal crime, knowing my family and home are safe.
The first attempt the bike had zero security, a cover at the minimum would have been good.

Not before they broke the steering lock. And leaving your bike outside with no cover is asking for trouble.
You can also get a fibreglass shell bike storer that may act as a deterrent.
