They ruined it when they paved it. It use to be lined with stones , shells . Still so jealous. This is my fav place on earth

Colonial Williamsburg has little say concerning the streets which are owned by the city of Williamsburg. They are required to be paved for emergency services (police, fire, rescue, et).
I agree , the asphalt is ugly . The type of pavement that is hidden underneath the asphalt was so much more attractive .
