I was wondering how does the actor, Thomas Jefferson field the questions from the public regarding his paramour, Sally Hemmings now that the truth has come out?
Just spent 3 days there. Loved it, especially on my own. Some of the character actors were fabulous. The black gentleman who played the slave Amadeus Lafayette was RIVETING. A story I never knew. Could listen these people all day long
As a foreign tourist I visited CW about 8 years ago and fell in love with it. From what I've seen since it has expanded since then making me put it BACK on my bucket list to revisit and experience bringing others with me. I visited in the Christmas new year season and felt it enhanced the experience with carolling at night by the college choir, hot cider and chilly ghost tours along with the seasonal decorations. I am so grateful for the foresight shown by the Rockefellers to preserve the history and allow for this immersive experience. The interaction and inclusiveness (even after discovering via my accent my non-american status) of the interpreters was charming and allowed me an insight into what had previously been a dry subject. Thank you for allowing me to reminisce and relive such a wonderful trip. After watching this I now say Vote #1 Jefferson!
Great video, I graduated from W&M and my wife and I lived in Williamsburg for a while, so we are very familiar with the area. Your video was informative and very professional, and the interview with Jefferson was amazing. Definitely subscribing. You are the Rick Steves of the Commonwealth :) Looking forward to seeing your other videos of VA.
Erik The Travel Guy Wow! I love to learn more about both of these two historical U.S. 🇺🇸 Presidents named George Washington (Friday, February 22, 1732-Saturday, December 14, 1799; Thursday, April 30, 1789-Saturday, March 4, 1797) and Thomas Jefferson (Saturday, April 13, 1743-Tuesday, July 4, 1826; Wednesday, March 4, 1801-Saturday, March 4, 1809) at Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia.
Nicely done video. The new museum is open and stunning. Love hearing from the historical interpretors. They truly help you understand the people as they were in their day instead of judging them thru the lens of our day. Thomas Jefferson was a man driven by his passions and not prudent with his money. He was a good friend of LaFayette and initially cheered the French Revolution as a glorious thing to usher or aristocracy and in democracy. But then it turned to a nightmare before his eyes in the Reign of Terror. That just about broke him. His idealistic youth turned to a more cynical elder years. And he managed his money horribly. Not to mention how he managed his extended family. Debt, disgrace and some pretty abusive stuff from his son-in-law and grandchildren. His life story is filled with a pantheon of good and bad. If you have a chance, speak with this wonderful reenactor. Ask about his daughter.
My Friend and Family are taken me back to visit Colonial Williamsburg meeting Thomas Jefferson Bill Barker of bringing of character Foundation 18th Century. 😊😊😊
What a Amazing Bill Barker Thomas Jefferson it's bright to meet you Mr. Jefferson, oh my gorgeous 😍President hero Thomas Jefferson Build our nation to the future pursuit of happiness ❤😀.
We were there today. This video was released in January so, just before things changed. We are from Georgia, they are very strict here in VA about masks. A lot of Mr. and Mrs Karen’s.
@@staceyvelkovich1054 I'm here a week after toy. Only ones I saw wearing masks were the servers at restaurants and clerks in the gift shops. The interiors were all vaccinated and back to normal.
Karen is a racial stereotype. If it were directed at any other race it would be considered.....a stereotypical racist generalization. Not something to like.
I'm here in CW now (July 2021). They are up and running with more opening every day as everyone gets back to work and travel. Only the summer heat and storms get in the way.
Right???? Kelly, I remember that interview very well! I’m pretty production, I was concerned doing an in character interview wouldn’t work. However, he was so good…I think it worked very well!
Too bad CWF changed actual HISTORY about 15 years ago. So it’s a pity People Say: “Oh I understand that now” 4 times! Just to sad they’ve ALTERED HISTORY!
God, we need men like Jefferson now, instead of the dolts in govt now, especially Trump. Trump talks about Hannibal Lecter. Compare it to Jefferson. So embarrasing
Most of this CWF review was a waste of time on July 4 th aside from the Blacksmith, he doesn’t show 1/100th of the Real Colonial Williamsburg. Sad to ruin what #WAS a wonderful #LivingMuseum
The Thomas Jefferson actor was amazing!!
He is!! I was fortunate to meet him a few weeks ago at Monticello. He’s hilarious and adorable
Extremely knowledgeable and fascinating. He is now moved to Monticello. Always worth seeking him out when you visit.
We must protect him at all costs!!

Yep, the background music is too loud for conversation...
Excellent video! I wish people would stop calling America a Democracy. We are a constitutional republic. Just ask President Thomas Jefferson. 😊

We were in the era of grammar nazis, we have entered in the era of the can’t watch video because of background music
I would guess all the living history has been stopped with COVID.
They run a right ship over there! They’ve figured out how to welcome guests!

How do I send Thomas Jefferson's answer to our present day government?????

Jefferson didn't mention his enslaved mistress Sally 😏???
