Let's take a look at my favorite plate carrier! Below is a link to the plates in this video, and the 15%-off coupon is thegunpenguin.
tacticalscorpiongear.com/tact...
I linked to the mediums, because that's the size that most of you will need. Also, be sure to get the multi-curve ones; flat plates suck.

“I’m just a civilian hack off with too much free time” this one hit me on a different level
I’ve seen probably fifty of these JPC reviews while trying to decide if I want one. This is, so far, the best.
Thank you so much!
Agreed... This review pushed me over the fence, was able to find the elusive Multicam Arid... very pleased I got it. Thanks "TGP" the review is spot on, and for the coupon code!
Well, that settles it. Great review.
I just built my first AR when uvalde happened. Carried a pistol for years but decided I need more. Bought a higher end of the crappy tier airsoft carrier to get an idea of what I want out of one, and it looks like it's this one.
If you keep up all this content you’re definitely gonna blow up. Thanks so much man
Thank you so much! I'm honored!
The opening and closing is my favorite part of this video, information aside obviously.
You've earned a new subscriber for sure,
Thank you so much for the kind words and support!
Really love the format of that review ! Packed with information and humor !
Thanks!
Where has this channel been all my life, this is actually hilarious, while also being super informative and interesting
Thank you so much!
Crye jpcs in ranger green are probably some of the best looking carriers on the market. also thanks for the 15% off on my level VI tsg plates they work great in my ferro fcpc v5 .
Hell yeah! Happy to help, my friend!
Honestly, I was never really a ranger green or OD green kind of guy, but it's grown on me a lot
You're hilarious and it's a crime you don't have more subscribers. Definitely makes me want to buy a 2.0 more
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Underrated channel, love your videos, keep up the good work man !
Thank you for the kind words! I very much appreciate it!
Best review I’ve seen yet on the jpc
I hit sub so fast. Hilarious and informative review. I'm picking one up in multicam black this week and wanted to see where my money is going.
Thank you so much!
Hilarious review and I dig the self deprecating humor! Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the video. Just got this as my first carrier. I was trying to understand how a front mag pouch would work with the cumberband.
Great review! Wish I knew about this before I went with the lbx armarus (which is still great) getting this next
This has been the BEST review!
I’m dead 😂😂😂😂
Thank you so much for the kind words!
Thank you for helping me justify buying one
Just fantastic review 👏
This was hysterical 🤣 loved the review
This helped a lot. Thanks, man!
Cops are indeed also civilians. Thank you for making the clarification even though you might receive backlash from the community as "woke". Just found another banger of your videos. Picked this up today.
Thanks! The gun community has a terrible tendency to worship at the alter of authority.
your presentation/narration is fucking phenomenal
Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm honored!
Been waiting for this one
Took me long enough.
@@thegunpenguin guys I train with use that warrior assault gear looks alot like the crye.
Another hilarious but equally awesome presentation brother!!
Well done!
This JPC 2.0 looks like a premier piece of kit.
Thanks!!
BK-CT
Thanks, my friend! Yeah, this is one of those pieces of gear that I can almost universally recommend, and that's there very rare.
Lmao did you just sneak in a Liszt reference by using it as possum dialogue? A man of high culture indeed
Hahaha Yes, and you win all the points.
Buy Once...Crye Once ;)
Indeed!
what's your body size (ht, wt)? i see you're using size small. i have large size, i'm at 5'10 and its slightly too big i feel, the shoulder straps don't adjust as well. thinking of going medium.
First time viewer here
,but I’m glad you’re humble enough to say you’re not LE or military so you get a like and follow from a military member
I enjoy using your coupon. I didn’t know how they got that coupon name until now haha. I just found it online a while back
Nice! It's a great coupon!
where did you purchase those clips from in the front of your carrier to attach your placard to
Great review bro, a lot of good info. What brand/model 5.56 mag “pouch” is that at 14:30 and also same question for the pistol/subgun “pouch” at 14:35? TIA
Thanks! Both pouches are Spiritus Micro Fights, in two very different configurations.
im looking to purchase a JPC 2.0 and im conflicted what size (small, medium" to get. I am 5'9 around 165 and my chest is 36in exactly. Do you care to tell us youre height and weigh? I have been trying to find a comparison but i can't. Thanks! Great video
Great review man. Im your height but a little fatter. I found a small in stock that I'm gonna pull the trigger on. I appreciate you answering questions in the comment section too. Helped me make my decision as well. Keep it up dude.
Thank you for the kind words, my friend!
5:55 well said Mr. Penguin 👏
Thanks!
Very informative video! Thank you so much. I'm sold. Sent the money, PayPal half way through your video
Thanks! Happy to help!
@@thegunpenguin Do you have a review of the Maritime version? If not, what'd your opinion on it? I bought one not knowing "maritime" designated for a different model than the original. It has No kangaroo/admin pouch. However, in theory, It should be more breathable and "water wicking" than the full mesh version. . It feels softer than the material on my JPC 6x9 side armor panels, but only in certain areas. "High stress points" like the edge of the PC, where the plates rest up against the body, are a full "invented" material. Feels of quality.
Funny ass review. Gotta love your sense of humor.
the craziest thing is. The civilians are getting better plate carriers than the military. As a Marine our Carriers are heavy outdated dog shit. And I doubt it’ll even stop anything with the plates we use. Gotta love it man. Lmao
Thanks! Also, that's truly unfortunate about your carrier. Our tax dollars hard at work.
Yeah man same boat, im an 8404 corpsman and im gonna have to shell out a decent chunk of change if i want gear i can be fluid and confident in
Thinking of getting the cpc
hey man love the video!! got a question for you, should i get the small plate for the small JPC or take de medium plate ?
Thanks! As for your question, that depends entirely on your size.
Idk if you will see this but do you have a link to the clips you used to attach the placard?
do those buckles on the front for the front flap- do they come with the JPC or are they sold separately?
What Camelbag you running in there?
In other news. Have you considered G-hooks over the Clippy shits. They 'cant' break. (but require resowing a bit)
It's a Source water doodad, and I really like it; I've had great luck with it so far! I've thought about G hooks, but I've never had a problem with the QASM clips. I carry spares just in case. If I get to a point that I'm breaking them all the time, I might consider an alternative.
i know this is an older video but what was the ak mag holder you were using at 14:45?
Earned yourself a sub
Nice review there, I have a question, though. What is your opinion on getting a soft body armor vest (3A) to go under the carrier? The plates don't wrap around the entire body and there's a gap between them and all. Plus some carriers take both plates and soft panels so I thought it was worth an ask.
I ordered a 2.0 carrier in my color and size some time back and it's still not here. I ordered a couple of months ago?
It's totally normal for Crye to take a few months to get an order sent out! Sometimes it can be half a year. They're very, very popular, to put it mildly.
I personally wouldn't wear an additional layer of soft armor, but that's just personal preference. When I choose plate, I look for the lightest option, and a soft armor is going to introduce weight and reduce mobility. While soft armor certainly flexes, it still impedes movement enough to matter. But perhaps more important, it's going to trap heat, and generally make you miserable. I speak from personal experience.
Extra armor is going to make you bulkier, with all of that padding plus the carrier and magazines and water and medical. Makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it.
There will also be gaps, and if long-term comfort and speed is your goal, you can position your body relative to the target in such a way that your important bits will be covered. Besides, 3A doesn't stop rifle rounds anyway. Wearing that extra stuff in the hot South Carolina sun is hellish.
All of this is just my personal experience, and you may find that all of it is wrong for you and your body. To know, you really just have to try all of the options, unfortunately. That said, I think it's more likely that you'll find extra soft armor uncomfortable than it is that you'll love wearing it. The protection just isn't worth the inconvenience.
Sorry for the useless answer, but I like to be as blunt and honest as I can!
@@thegunpenguin Thank you for the long and interesting reply! Good thing I got a second opinion before I clicked BUY. I'm a little on the larger/taller side, and do a lot of weightlifting. While I have a higher ceiling for carry weight than the average Joe, I understand the value of a lighter setup. I'll probably purchase a plate or two instead, for the carrier that isn't here 😂
I don't live anywhere as warm as SC but I've been there a few times. It snowed on Halloween here so extra heat is generally less of a concern right now, but I can see it being an issue at some point.
And again thank you, it's probably better I save a little more for the plates that I really want, which ironically might arrive before the carrier.
best review out there
As someone who has this kit in the military, it is worth every penny for those who are considering purchasing it.
Thanks for the perspective!
Already got one. Winning....
I keep looking up online this product but every picture on the websites don't show clips or anything do they ship with them ?
What’s your height and weight? Just to get a better idea of what size to get. I’m right on the borderline of a small and medium but not sure which size to error on.
heyyy I don't know if you'll see this but how is the SPC compared to the JPC?
What is more comfortable?
is the should strap width the same in small compares to medium?
Try the AVS, you'll fall in love with it.
What's the name of the OCP chest rig you have in the video?
Which mag pouch is that? And does it have velcro on the back?
Where did you get the clips to attach your front pouch? Did they come with the carrier or did you get them separately?
They were sold separately.
What size plates are you running in the jpc2.0
Great intro🇺🇸🤘🏻
What was the accessory you attached at 14:29??
Almost broke a rib laughing, “if you don’t know how to do this, please consult a physician because you may have lead poisoning or severe brain damage.”
Came for a review and subbed because of 4:10 . Your views are spot on. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, my friend! The cops have killed too many Americans as it is.
@@thegunpenguin Just curious, what do you think the solution is for people being killed by police? It is always interesting to me when people say the police kill too many people but don’t seem to have any solution at hand for navigating the complexities of enforcing the rule of law and maintaining order. Additionally, It is interesting that you would be an advocate for the personal ownership of “military” equipment or as you say “protective products” but not see this equipment as relevant in police work. If police are civilians, and police are American citizens, then shouldn’t a police officer be just as entitled to the use of “military” or “protective”equipment as you?
@@samuelwilliamson1890 Agree, I like the review, however this comment is straight shit, “Cops” wear different hats. One example is working on the border were the Cartels are sometimes better equipped and such gear is necessary to preserve ones life.
I was debating on getting a JPC 2.0, but was concerned about shelling out the $300 for it, because I wasn’t sure if I’d like it.
So I bought a cheap Chinese knock off for $40, just to test it out and see what I liked and didn’t like. Knowing the quality wouldn’t be nearly the same, but it was made with the same design and some similar features.
I’ve liked it, and it’s already falling apart so I know it’s not going to last much longer, but it’s help me to decide to get the real JPC 2.0
Yes I ended up spending $40 more then I needed too, but I at least know that I am going to like the real one because I got to experiment and try out the cheap version
Whats are the mag pouches at 14:36 ?
You sir are entertaining 😂
Thank you for the kind words!
your commentary is too damn funny , i couldn't sub fast enough
Wow, I'm honored! Thank you so much!
Love the review.. question.. I’m 5’6 165 lbs what size would I get small or medium?
@@stacheoperator thank you I appreciate it!
what size had he recommended? I don't see his reply...
What type of chest rig is that?
I'm a thick boi (6ft 300lb) will this work for me. Working on getting in shape
If I buy the 2.0 do I need to buy the plate bags? Or does it come with plate slots?
With the JPC 2.0, you receive plate bags and cummerbund; makes things easier, I think!
Hey brotha how tall are you? You said you got a small. I'm 5'9" 179 and I have an average torso so I'm thinking of a medium carrier. And have you tried the velocity scarab? I'm stuck between the scarab LT and the jpc 2.0
I'm 5'8" and about 160. For me, the small makes sense. I technically need a medium carrier, but I'm willing to sacrifice some protection for greater comfort. On someone my size, it isn't much of a sacrifice. I hope that helps!
hey this is a question for anyone to answer. i play airsoft, but im trying to up my load out and want to get the plate carrier but it's already expensive enough but it looks really cool and comfortable, but my question is, will this need additional attachments to it if i want to attach m4 mag pouches to it? if so what kind to make it look as cool as possible
Crye had their own mag pouches you can buy online
You say that you're using small sapi plates but the link is to medium sized plates. I'm wondering what size you used, because I've just purchased some 8x10 lapg plates that are absolutely swimming in my small jpc
As I said in the video, I'm using small SAPI-style plates. The link is to medium-sized SAPI-style plates because most people use a medium-sized JPC, as stated in the description.
Thank you for making that absolutely clear! I'm about to order some tsg smalls - also I agree with a previous comment that this video was the reason I went ahead and bought the jpc
If anyone sees this what placard is that at 14:39
Bro I was looking for a plate carrier to fit my RMA plates and lmfao your fucking hilarious bro
Thanks!
Really good review. I too, couldn’t stop laughing. You speak like myself. Making it easy to watch. I especially liked your comment pertaining to, stop buying cheap redundant shit. And focus on just a few quality things. In practice. That will allow you to own more quality things. But as you know. People love talking about all the shit they have.
Thank you for the kind words, and you're awesome!
With this cool gear, even I could be as cool as a cucumber in an Olive Garden endless salad.
PREVIOUSLY FROZEN
I don’t get your humor but I like the carrier. Good video.
Thanks! I don't really get my humor either.
Cops think they're military lol. I've heard one say they are active duty lmao. Like bro, you are full time and can quit. That is not active duty lol.
I can tell we're going to be friends.
I would have peed a little 😅😅😂 Dude takes himself wayyy too seriously. Like when they call themselves Special Operations and it’s just SWAT 😂😂
Only 10% of the military experience actual combat, lmao. A large percentage are not even proficient with firearms. Some cops have experienced have seen more firefights than most, hell, some are vets themselves. Y’all are whack for shitting on LEOs, it’s the two profession is orange to tomatoes, y’all need to grow up.
@coltwasneverhere5239 you guys sound like buncha reddit users
Does anyone know what placard that is with the ak mags? I've been looking into a few but I've found very few I actually like the look of
It's made by Esstac.
@@thegunpenguin gotcha, I couldn't find any pictures for the ak specific ones. Is that the triple kywi or the daeodon? It looks really nice.
Had to stop watching a 6 minutes, this review is way to good for my crummy civilian JPC 1.0 candy asp
I also stopped editing after 6 minutes, so you really saved yourself.
A link to completely setup a 2.0? Installation of MOLLE, Detachable M4 Flaps. Everything
That's difficult to find. In 2021, few people stick entirely to the Crye ecosystem, with good reason. I'd feel very limited, personally.
Awesome video. Earned a sub from me.
Thanks, friend! I'm honored!
Gald there are like minded people in good ole SC. Loved the lindsey ghram joke🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
So the medium scorpion plates fit well in the small jpc 2.0??
If I said that in the video, I misspoke -- only small SAPI-sized plates will fit in the small JPC.
thegunpenguin thanks!
@@matweezy1760 I'm always happy to help! And if I don't know the answer, I'll try to point you to someone who does.
Very based, subscribed.
Can you link that sick ass triple mag pouch with that front pouch?
It's an Esstac Deodon. They're terrific.
Have had both the JPC 2.0 and the SPC. SPC is an upgrade, but only marginally and only in some ways. I would say that it's not really worth your time to upgrade, but you've already ordered, so. The two placard buckle mounting loops on the SPC are weirdly high though, so some of your placards/rigs might ride 0.5" - 1" higher than they do on the JPC. Be careful you don't punch yourself in the chin when you reload! Also as a last little nitpick, the shoulder straps on the JPC are made out of Hypalon, not AirLite. AirLite is a lot thinner and firmer, and doesn't feel as rubbery.
I didn't buy it as an upgrade -- I bought it because I test gear on UA-cam. I have a pile of plate carriers. And AXL makes a fix for the buckle height.
@@thegunpenguin 55 bucks + AXL lead time seems like a bit too much
@@nadoProducer To each his own!
@14:31 what is that pouch and does it have kydex inserts? Thanks
Both the green and multicam are Spiritus Micro Fights, the mk. 4 version. They do not have kydex inserts. However, the Esstac Kywi front panels that I also show do have kydex inserts. I've had very good luck with both the Micro Fights and the Kywi panels.

Whats wrong with my PSA ARs :( good review.
just ordered mine, says i’m going to have to wait until March 2021 to get it lol
That sounds about right. Crye enjoyment is a cycle of perpetual waiting.
I just ordered my second JPC 2.0 from OP Tactical this month! I wasn't on any waiting list either.
I must have a weird body because I don't find the 2.0 to be that comfortable. Its nice but I feel like it could be better in comfort. I also hate the straps on the cummerbund because they block my spiritus micro from getting a good hold on the Velcro, it's attached but not as much as I'd like. It's a good plate carrier, but just not for me.
No, I'm not selling it.
That's entirely understandable. Plate carriers are even less universal than other gear, and for that reason, I recommend three rather than just this one.
"Not encouraging the militarization of police"
This comment is so profoundly based and under-rated
That last of us meme made me subscribe

Does the JPC 2 come with buckles for placards?
No. Unfortunately, most carriers don't.
@@thegunpenguin Were you using the buckle adapters from AXL?
@@SkintSNIPER262 No, that's a solution for the original JPC. Version 2 has the buckle loops.
@@thegunpenguin Yeah. Found the solution right after posting that lol.

Unless I can find other small sapi carriers, I think this is my only option.
One could do much worse!
@@thegunpenguin oh yah. I figure if I can get 5 for my slickster and plates. Ill only be out around 80 bucks.
I’m 5’6” with a thick back and chest. I know 10x12 plates are best for me but the sizing guide on the crye website recommends a large due to my chest. Do you have any recommendations for the size?
Hmmm. That's tricky. You really need to cover your heart and lungs, whatever that looks like for your size. A good rule of thumb is to measure nip to nip. Plates that are too large will very much get in the way, and you won't much enjoy wearing them. I hope that helps!
I yeeted my testy on the sub button 4 ye
