A couple things. Make sure to use a commercial grade outlet ($50+) as history has shown that the cheaper outlets are not built for the continuous EV loads. Check with you local inspections on if they require a gfci breaker. It is a change in the code although not all states have adopted the change. Always pull a permit and get an inspection.
For the frequent insertion/removal cycles with EV charging, I would strongly encourage: 1) mounting against a wall stud, 2) 6 gauge wire not 8, and 3) commercial grade outlet.
ok.. so basically neutral wire and ground wire connects to same spot. if you use multi-meter on Ground and Neutral does it give you 120v AC ? I thought ground should be earth.. thanks for video
Hi got a question. Came across your video just now about the Compustar CM7200. I recently bought my car and older owner had this system installed. The antenna says ANT-2WSP so I bought the remote but couldn’t get it paired. Not sure what I need to do now any help? Yes I’m aware this is a old system

Can you use a metal box instead of plastic?

There are only 3 wires coming out of the box, a red, a black, and a white. Where do I connect the white wire? To the neutral or to the ground?

If its a main panel, the ground and neutral wires are together. If its a sub-panel, they must be separate.
Yes, correct
Why are you saying 220v. Instead of 240
i need to put one in for a friend
If my breaker box only 100 can i use a 40 amp breaker
So do the red and black have to be oriented a specific way? I assume not since they are both 120v but I want to be certain.
They are interchangeable as hots usually marked on outlet as xxx or yyy

I'd call compustar tech for a replacement remote or an antenna swap to a current version to fix that
Wow Thanks for this Martin… My daughter is buying a tesla and I was looking to see how to do something like this!
Go for it man!
Awesome work. Appreciate you
Much appreciated
