    It’s honestly comical that they’re flaunting these beautiful pieces and yet the clothes on the actual dolls that they actually sell aren’t remotely as nice. It’s sort of a bait-and-switch. Ultimately, Mattel is answerable to shareholders not to customers.

      Shareholders often ruin things. They don’t understand the importance of the original designs and direction of the company. It’s disappointing, frustrating and mildly infuriating. If Barbie wasn’t so big, it would have tanked (and it may still happen, especially if another Bratz type doll comes along with the more conservative style.
      Clothing design and brand loyalty were the main components keeping Barbie afloat when Bratz peaked; the design influence vs. target age demographic wasn’t aligned well for most parents and they’d grown up with Barbie. This isn’t always going to happen, especially when Barbie keeps taking hits on ethics.
      She needs ethics classes and a clothing and accessories design overhaul, especially with regard to quality (but also her clothing isn’t what it used to be and it doesn’t fit the current fashion aesthetic).
      A brand for the ages should have distinct fashion at every generation so those looks become iconic representation of the era as they age, instead of just looking dated. They should also hold up and the quality is horrible. It’s fast fashion for a designer brand at designer prices. Might as well just let the Kardashians drop ship some knockoffs, as they do.Barbie is giving Kardashian/Jenner scam.

      @@momokoblue8032 I disagree due to the fact that collector dolls, who are quite expensive, still don't have that care put into them, it's obvious the decrease in quality that started in the 2010's was due to Mattel losing the Disney money, its true that we are seeing a slow increase in clothes quality from Mattel, but I doubt it will ever reach the vintage quality.

    I stopped following Barbie Style IG because it mad me angry. We will never get any of these fashions or dolls or have anything close to it at an affordable price. Mattel has to be so cheap that consumers can’t have access to these talented designers’ clothing, dolls, and furniture. It sucks because growing up most of the dolls & accessories shown in ad/ print was available to purchase. Barbie needs to go back and capitalize on fashion packs with current designs. And tlc their hair and makeup. It took Mattel about a decade to finally listen to collectors to bring back Barbiecore and it will take another decade for them to bring back Barbie fashions.

    One of them sums it up a few minutes in, they can't do it in production but in Barbie Style they can do whatever they like. We are not meant to get this type of detail in person. It's a fantasy to get people excited about the brand. If Barbie can't be trendy and high quality IRL at least she can fake it on Instagram. I can appreciate the artistry that goes into the scenery and doll designs, but it's a team of professionals, it's SUPPOSED to look great. I personally can't get past the corporation-ness of it all despite the pretty pictures so I don't follow the IG, however it was refreshing to see some faces behind all the work.

    Barbie has the potential to be fantastic again.
    What mattel would need to do is take away from making sooo many playline dolls. The diversity and inclusion is great but we really don’t need it in every round of dolls. Barbie has always been diverse, ppl just need to stop crying about inclusivity, its costing the brand waay too much money only for those dolls to fill up the clearance.
    Next, Barbie has to go back to her basics. “ the gilette theory “
    You buy the beautifully crafted detailed doll and her friends and then release all these wonderful fashion packs.
    When it comes to playline in the Jill Barad era of best selling barbie, you had 2 play-line releases and 1 budget doll. Again, because there weren’t so many dolls or lines out, even the play line and budget dolls were beautifully crafted.
    Barbie needs to make some noise again for all of us that love her. Her movie paved the way but still didn’t give us the quality we hoped for at its full potential.

    Hahaha 😂 so funny when they are talking about the working zipper,wow that’s a miracle in 2024 👏🏼 let’s remember the fashions that they were produced back 1959 ,that was the real Barbie made in Japan with hand stitched outfits and real working buttons and zippers.

    Aren’t those for sale ? And if not, why ?
    Lately I’ve been playing around with some fashion avenue and fashion fever pieces from my childhood that were kind of basic for us back then to have as kids. The level of quality and detail on those little clothes that also reflect the trends of their time seems to be unmatched today.
    Mattel needs to step it up and offer that to everyone again! Kids also enjoy high quality and realistic fashion in their toys!
    Growing up in the 2000s what they show in this video is what I would have expected to be the evolution of Barbie for every consumer! Also every product of Barbie had real photos from real photoshoots back then, why do they present it like it’s revolutionary?

    I don't think its fair that production can't do the things you all do. I think everyone deserves to get dolls of the highest quality like barbie style does. Playline dolls are good for kids and I get that's the main audience but at least for the adults who follow barbie style, purchasing these pieces even in limited quantities would be AMAZING!

    Loved watching this BTS video! What a dream job! Most of the consumers buying toys/dolls are adults vs children. The market is flooded with way too many playline pixelated Millie face Barbie dolls. Mattel is pumping out doll fashions that are cheaply made - printed on details/Velcro/low quality plastic accessories. Current Collector level dolls are playline quality with Collector prices. Playline from 15-20+ years ago are better quality than current Collector level releases.

    Barbie style must b rlly amazing 4 the workers bc they get 2 do art as marketing. I’m sure the ppl running it would love 2 c this fashion on actual dolls. Barbie style is probably better 4 3rd-party sellers than actual Barbie.

    Saying that you can't do these things in production is simply not true. It's not that Mattel CAN'T, it's that they WON'T. Increasing quality and making pieces like they used to be made (fashion fever days for example) would hurt your shareholders and bonuses. It really is quite sad.

  • @Fidjie
    @Fidjie 16 днів тому +4

    I like Barbie Style's work and all those clothes and heads showed in the video. But saying that it's not possible to produce that clothes for selling it's far from true. Barbie has had a good quality in 80's and 90's, I'd even say 2000. What they produce now it's trash, and not just the clothes. The pixelated faces and the bad quality hair is unexcusable.
    Also, other doll brands like Momoko have been creating realistic clothes, following real fashion trends, clothes that you would love to find in a shop, so Barbie is a bit late to the innovation.

      The reason why they can’t is because their not an indépendant company. They’re a corporation. They have shareholders to answr to. Their goal is to produce cheap stuff for cheap prices. Also their market isn’t for the older audience. They won’t change anything bcuz people still buy those fashion packs. It makes millions

    • @Fidjie
      @Fidjie 14 днів тому

      @@livelaughlove5421 I know, and I don't blame the designers at all. My complaints are for the corporation and this system we live in where everything has to be the cheapest for earning the most as possible U_U.
      Also, kids deserve good quality an pretty toys too.

    It looks cool, but it's not in the actual product. The heads are covered in pixel makeup, the prints on the dresses are terrible and cheap, Barbie is no longer a person, but just a bunch of 11.5 inch dolls. A sad sight, a beautiful, almost glossy video that has nothing to do with reality.
