Nice review ! My current line up is the Clifton 9 for daily training, the Rincon 3 for quicker runs and the Carbon X for the track or other forms of speedwork. I have a pair of the Rocket X2's that I am saving for a marathon in November. Trail shoe is the Torrent 2. Just bought the Clifton 9 goretex and the Challenger 7 goretex for winter training.
Good stuff! I was really intrigued by the Cielo....looks like my kind of shoe. Though I generally have not had the best luck in Hokas over the years...except the Bondi 4.....going back many years! I ended up recently picking up the Topo Cyclone 2...which seems similar to the Cielo. Perhaps some day I'll give it the Cielo shot. But I need to space out the purchases....or my wife might kick me out if even more shoes show up at the front door :)
I thought I was the only buyer of the Hoka Cielo Road 😂 nobody talks about them, but I really appreciate them, because of their low stack, no plate, so you can run very close to a natural feeling, albeit with a sufficient amount of Peba foam that helps a good protection and soft impact to the ground. Besides, are really minimal so when you run fast you can really be conscious of your foot position, and therefore I feel them ideal for those trainings of running drills and technique. Also just bought machX2 but still have to try them.
I have the rocket X2 (newly purchased) and also intending to get the Cielo Roads for the same reasons u stated. How has it been so far comparing these 2 for you?
@@everydaylifefilms I think they're both very high level shoes, to be used for different aims. Rocketx2 has given me a feeling of extreme bounciness and softness, which requires the carbon plate stiffness to ensure stability; this is done quite well, the shoe picks up the pace exceptionally, and I've prefered its feeling in comparison to Nike Vaporfly 2, because I felt it more confortable and more pleasant. So I really like Rocket x2 and use them for my fastest workouts on road. I also train in track, but unfortunately I don't find well with rocket x2 on track, I think there they give me an excess of response, of bounciness, which leads my feet too high on the rear, so I kind of lose control of my steps. There I prefer a traditional spike shoe (Nike dragonfly in my case). But for road, Rocket X2 is excellent. As for the Hoka Cielo, I really like them for those workout at tempo pace, or for 1000-2000 mt reps; they don't give me the same speed of RocketX2, but on the other side are far less demanding for tendons and feet, and the day after I use them I have no pains at all, differing from Rocket, which leaves some pain. The really low drop (3mm) allows a very smooth ride, really pleasant, and you can run effectively close to you real feet feeling. It reminds me that "I am running", and not that "I am led to be run by the shoe", as happens with carbon supershoes. It's a matter of preferences, I guess. They can be fair also for slow runs, but in this case I prefer a more protective shoe, I use the Mach 6 (my wheight is quite low, 52 kg). I hope to have been quite clear, I'll be curious to know your opinion after you try them!
@@everydaylifefilms by the way I've also tried the MachX2; I bought them directly from the Hoke website so to have the 30-days warranty. I could use them for a short run. Well, as you lace them up it's such a wonderful astonishing feeling of comfort and softness and perfect fit of the upper, really exceptional. You run them in and you feel this contemporary softness, but not excessive, they are perfectly responsive, I have to admit that I had to go deep to find an issue to give them back :D I'd really have kept them, was loving them! But unfortunately I have a particular spot on my feet which was affected by the upper, and for 190 euro I decided that I had to face no issues at all. Therefore I sent them back to Hoka, which was perfect with the 30-days warranty and gave me back the money with no problems at all.
Thank you for the review !! 😊 Are you sure about the Rocket X2 being over 10 onces? It seems very heavy for a racer!! 🤔 It depends on the size I suppose...
I've put about 60 miles into the Mach X and imo it's not very good. It feels too clunky and heavy. When I try to accelerate it's not there. The comfort is nice but it's caused me to have sore achilles and calves, probably because I'm use to 8mm vs the 5 mm. I would suggest to go to a shoe shop to try them on before buying cause some people love the Mach X but I hated it.

I cringed every time you said “Cielo.” The correct pronunciation is “See-el-oh”
I was also going to comment this
Why don’t you do a “The proper pronunciation of your running shoe” video? 😂
I like his pronunciation a lot better tbh
