The Funky Cat comes from one of China's leading carmakers, Great Wall Motor, while Ora is its EV-only brand. The firm hopes to finally establish itself in Europe and the UK as an alternative to more traditional brands, and the family hatchback-sized Funky Cat is its first move.
It comes with a 48kWh battery, 169bhp electric motor and a 193-mile range. Initially it's only available as a high-spec First Edition with prices starting at £31,995.

Great review as usual. This car looks really nice, and the quality! The Chinese have come a long way. And i don’t mind the retro friendly style, the over aggresive sporty style of everything is a little tiring these days

The trousers and the interior 👏
Apart from range and price, no rear wash wipe is an omission (look how the vision was obscured in the test), no sunroof and restricted colour choice. Pity as outside style acceptable, inside really rather nice.
Just had one of these for the weekend, epic for the price, but low and behold the charging network here in the UK is pants

I currently have a Suzuki Swift Sport and I'm looking at one of three new cheap Chinese EV hatchbacks (this, the MG4 and the BYD Dolphin) as it's replacement.
I took the Ora for a spin on the weekend and it's interior is so much nicer than my Suzuki it's not funny.
Apparently the one I had has had a bunch of software updates, which is why I didn't get bothered by the driver assistance/monitoring.
You can turn the distraction camera off. The dial gear knob does click into place but you were in drive when you were turning it in video which of course won’t allow you to change gear as that is a safety issue .

With nearly 32k budget to spend on an EV, unfortunately most will spent it on the MG4 with its 64kWh battery you can also get the Kona 39kWh with almost the same range and Kia's 7 year warranty . Too big a price , small battery and boot capacity + The Mini-e and Fiat 500 electric have the retro look scene sown up from trusted legacy automakers . Ora's best cars . The almost complete Beetle lookalike Punk Cat and the star of the brand - the Ioniq6 lookalike Lightning Cat they've left at home.

Sorry to tell you that I am told that ORA have dropped the name ‘Funky Cat’ in the UK. It is now called the ‘ORA 1’ Is that right??

retro freindly, coolest name if your a nerd LOL , bland with hardly any boot space THAT WILL PUT 50% or more off who might have been in the mkt for a first EV , all for £32,000 . These will be a rare sight on uk rds unless their bought for fleet cars. A less bells and whistles version kicks off at 12/13 k in china home mkt . It has a round conventional steering wheel and novelty wise knows what the weathers like in London WOW

You’re right not a 1950’s car. Apart from bad range, no rear wiper, virtually no boot, slowish charging and being £10k overpriced it could be recommended! Oh forgot where’s the dealer network? Will get some initial buyers for the looks with more money than sense but then ………..
