I have a Herbert MK3 and Hagen. I get tempted to buy a VH4 every once in awhile but I don't think I'd like it more than my Hagen. Once you find the right cab/speakers and guitar with Hagen it's unbeatable.
That's how I am currently feeling with the Herbert MK3. I just bought one this past weekend and already have a VH4. Haven't tried a Hagan or D-Moll yet.
I love my Hagen. Curious what your settings sound like on my set up. It looks like your ch3 mid is at noon, bass at about 2. is treble at 3 or 9? and presence, is that 3 or 9? can't quite tell. lately i've liked to set my treble to about 10 or even lower with higher gain settings. I use a bit brighter settings when playing with the band because the other guitar has a herbert mk3 and its just so much brighter.
Yeah treble is around 3 o'clock. I generally like brighter tones more than darker tones, with a tiny bit of mid scoop. I think I kinda messed up with the D-Moll because I didn't scoop the mids like I did with the other two amps.
Just your bog standard Ernie Ball Skinny Top/Heavy Bottom pack. The 52-10 gauge orange pack. I love them. I play in drop-C with them just fine, and they sound class.
Hi there, what’s it like playing these amps. Feel, response etc. which one is quicker? Faster attack and which one kicks you in the chest harder? Cheers.
Heya. I'd say the Hagen and VH4 are the yin/yang on the same kind of playing experience. The low-end is ballsy, and has the typical Diezel "slowness" but if you dial the amp in to be bright and with a lot of presence, you get that classic Diezel sound. If you throw an EQ, tubescreamer, or a Boss SD-1 in front of them, they tighten up and get you the "fast" responsive metal thing. The D-Moll is an odd one. I find it much fuzzier and slower than the other two amps. It takes pedals very well, but the core base tone seems closer to a doom or sludge kind of sound to me, rather than competing with the 5150's and recto's of the world.
Yeah could be, but actually I think for my tastes I prefer the Hagen the most. For me it is - Hagen, VH4, then D-Moll. Which is surprising because I've gigged the D-Moll for years! But really, they're all awesome. I'm just splitting hairs and having fun.
@@Drew_VernonAwesome video! Exactly what I was looking for. I agree with your ranking. The Hagen sits nicely between the VH4 and the D-Moll. It has a big bass response but it’s more controlled (in German they call it aufgeräumt = tidy). And it has lots of more modern features. Hagen is a total sleeper amp, don’t really know why. The VH4 has tons of balls but can get overwhelming, that’s why many people blend them with a Marshall or another brighter amp. And the D-Moll is super precise in the low end and it’s attack and imho definitely made primarily for metal.
Well the ex-2nd guitarist in my band owns the Hagen currently (I'm going to buy it off him this year) and it was his gigging amp in the band from 2016 until 2021 when he left. So I've experienced it quite a lot live, and have helped him dial it in and all the rest of it. The Hagen is a beast live. It really punches you in the gut. The same can be said of the JVM410HJS. So for the last few years I was using the JVM, and he was using the Hagen, and our live sound was just huge. When we get the band back up and running with our new 2nd guitarist, I'm hoping to continue having the Diezel sound in there in some form; whether Hagen or VH4, I'm not sure yet.
The rockerverb is very different to the Diezels. The distortion character is a bit more grainy, and not as smooth. I love it to bits though, and it is a classic.
@@Drew_VernonI find a lot of Diezels fans love Orange amps too. I have three Oranges myself. I think the hubris of some amp snobs won't allow them to admit Orange has some top tier tones.
why does everyone that demos Diezel play tool. Yes we got it. Personally i would l prefer demos showing the range of the amp instead of a downtuned Tool cover.
It's just the main audience that Diezel attracts. Most people want to hear riffs of tool when it comes to people demoing Diezels. Dont blame em Adam Jones has a unique sound. Diezel themselves have a great series demoing the amps very thoroughly.
Hagen for me. I remember trying a Herbert at the Brum Guitar Show and loved that too.
I've been trying to find a video like this for months, thank you!!!
A little surprised but to my ears the D-Moll wins on this one for me, clarity, raw aggressive gain, attack, love it.

Those strings look THICC!

Can you please share the D-moll settings used? Sounds great.
Heya. I think it was:
Channel 2 - Mid Cut enabled. Mid cut set to 10 o'clock. Level at noon.
Channel gain - 10 o'clock.
Bass - noon.
Mids - 2 o'clock.
Treble - 3 o'clock.
Is it just me or does the Hagen sound more "loose"? The D-Moll just sounds a bit more together to me vs the Hagen

@@Drew_Vernon that’s funny, because for me, it’s the opposite from this video. D-Moll, VH-4 and then Hagen lol. Different strokes!

Do you have any experience gigging the Hagen? How does it hold up to your JVM410JS?

What speakers you used? Front or rear loaded?
My Egnater Tourmaster 4x12 with Chinese V30's. Rear loaded.
How do these amps compare to the rockerverb?
The rockerverb is very different to the Diezels. The distortion character is a bit more grainy, and not as smooth. I love it to bits though, and it is a classic.
@@Drew_Vernon thanks for the reply. Would you be able to give a similar riff comparison, quick clip on the rockerverb vs VH4? Would appreciate it.
Sure! If I get a chance, I'll do something this weekend!@@tyroneenglish8396

Checkout my band - www.bridgedisaster.co.uk - last album is Diezel on both guitars.
