I own both of them as well, and soon will sell the Herbert because I don't see any reason keeping them both. You can get the Herbert sound from the VH4 with a simple EQ. I find the Dual rectifier much more enjoyable. Thats my 2 cents.

imo in this comparision they have pretty much the same sound. The big difference is the Herbert is tighter, has the mid cut (which sometimes acts as a small boost) and has a lot more headroom. I noticed it because I own an Herbert.

This is the first time I've heard a Herbert described as tighter than a VH4. I've owned both and the VH4 is way tighter than the Herbert 🤷‍♂️ Even here, you can hear the boom of the low-end on the Herbert coming through quite a bit. That doesn't really exist on the VH4 when switching back to it.

@derek_d Second this statement. Herbert was not tighter to my ears.

If you could only buy one which one would you pick? Herbert mk3 or vh4?

@@ivansandoval777 hard decision for sure as they are both great. I am a big Tool fan so if I absolutely had to pick one probably the VH4 because of its versatility. The Herbert though can do drop tunings and 7 strings better with the mid cut.

The one who chucks wood , to hard to pick. They are both heavier than fat Albert. MK3 looks badass .

Mr WC, do you prefer the VH4/VH2 or the Bogner Uberschall Ultra Mk2 as your favorite, or if you had to choose one amp head? Thanks! Rockit

Vh4 out of those. I traded my Uber Ultra in for a Helios Eclipse and grabbed a Bogner Uberschall Rev Green. The Rev Green has been my overall favorite.

The VH4 sounds impressive. I noticed how gainier and brighter it is compared to mine but I have 6L6s. Could you tell me which mics were used on the IRs? Thanks.

Just an SM57, Ownhammer Mesa 4x12 from Heavy Hitters Collection - Volume I. I put in 6L6s for a bit in my VH4, it added more low end and highs. I need to experiment more with it, but I keep falling back to EL34s on it.

I've had VH4 for a long time, I also changed it to el34, this sound went more, now I have Hagen on kt77, I miss my VH4, but Hagen is also cool)))
