This video demonstrates how to defeat Mr. Dark - the ruler of Candy Chateau and the final boss of the game. [This is the PC version] [Thanks to DOSBox team for creating the 8th wonder]
I wish there was an option to retrieve to redemption the gradual progression of powers with Batilla and some of the older designs (like the original prefight with Mr. Scops) because I preferred some of those and the original difficulty (with some of the changes of redemption of course) but with the final boss fight of redemption.
@@dandycrow2821 Because in the original you can't fight Mr. Dark, instead fight hybrids of the previous bosses. And unlike Redemption the Protoon is not in-game.
Imagine having to get every single collectible in one of the hardest 2D platformers there are just to beat the game- but you don't even fight the main antagonist.
I can't help but feel as though there would have been another part after you beat the Frankenstein'd bosses, but the devs ran out of time, resources, money, etc. and decided to just leave the boss as is.
Yes, that's a reasonable scenario. But as I commented here earlier, a similar pattern happens in Rayman 2 as well, as if not terminating the main villain was some soft of a principle.
Neo Raptor rayman was created by the fairys through magic. though that was in origins so wather or not its cannon to the original rayman game is questionable i guess
***** Believe it or not, you're right. Rayman 2 was suppose to be a direct sequel to this game, but it was re-developed into the 3D game. The PS1 version of Rayman 2 had a secret where if you beat the game 100%, you unlock a beta demo of the original Rayman 2. Search "Rayman 2 beta" on UA-cam.
I always thought that the fact that Mr. Dark runs away without taking any damage was kinda cool, of course I wanted to beat his ass into oblivion, but maybe it symbolizes how he was always one step ahead of Rayman, of course, he could be shapeshifting into those mixed bosses but that its up in the air.
Kirby the Atari version implies it's Mr. Dark, halfway through the fight with the first monster, he sweats an goes off screen then the last monster shows up, Sharing the health bar
it scared me when i was little when i couldn't get the power up cause he kept yanking the rope. now i laugh every time i see this scene. dark is such a troll lol
Evil Kitsune lol I didn't expect that either when I was younger when I saw this I freaked out now I just look back and laugh it's funny how I was scared but the frankienstein MASQUITO space mamma and mr sax is my favorite part of this fight it has always been my favorite
@@kylestubbs8867 i think it was so the player wouldn't get the power up straight away. Which would seem weird by todays video game standards, but bosses back then did some pretty zany stuff. They might still but i don't play as many games as i used to so i don't know for sure.
Sid Walker This game needs to get a reboot and make you actually fight mister dark not those other frustrating bosses mister dark was a really cool antagonist but that final boss fight spoiled it big time for me I wanted to fight mister dark they hyped him so much in the game for no reason😞
@@kylestubbs8867 yup, but it has a lot of thing added that it wasn't on the original game like: new levels, new power ups, new bosess you know everything of a remaster
Rayman Redemption fixed this Boss Battle. I wished they kept the part where Mr Dark steals Rayman’s Fist and then traps him with fire walls with no way out and then a pair of Electoons rescues Rayman by giving him his Fist back and then a cutscene takes place where Mr. Dark is angry that Rayman got his Fist back and sends his minions to destroy Rayman and Rayman defeats them and then another cutscene takes place where Mr Dark is even more angry and he decides to Fight Rayman himself and then Rayman defeats him and then Rayman gets ready to fight Mr. Dark again in The Final Showdown 👍
They didn't bring him back though, earlier in development, the game was a prequel and he was the main villain. When the game changed to a full retail sequel he was replaced "SPOILER" by the magician.
It was because of technology limitations - i mean, it came out in 1995. No character could have limbs, apparently. When they made it 3D, they could finally have limbs, but because Rayman's look had already been established, they kept him limbless.
I think what the creators wanted to do is that mr dark would become the transformations of the mixed version bosses, since he might not face rayman's golden fist after the electoons gave it to him, so he decided to become all the bosses of the game but mixed, this may make more sense in the sega version where all the crystals break maybe meaning that we have defeated mr dark
Not exactly. What happened there is that those fire-columns cannot be passed whatsoever, so they will hit you even when you are supposed to be invulnerable (right after been hit). That fire waves hit me first, and the blow threw me back to the fire column, that hit me again with an unavoidable damage. An easier method (I was trying to avoid any damage) would be to deliberately get hit by the column just right before the wave is coming at you. Thus you'll be getting only 1 damage instead of two.
Thank God I didn't put myself through beating this game as a kid, to go through one of the hardest ps1 Platformers only to get a PNG as an ending, lol.
I just want to think mr dark jumped on the air and used the power of the great protoon to shapeshift in those fusions and when he becomes space mama and bzzit fusion he just multiplies into two.
@supermancrashin But the main Villain, Andre the Black Lum escapes as well. Well, he's turned into a Red Luma again, but something scares him and he returns right when the game ends. So....
Not only space mama and moskito. Mr Sax is also Part of it... :) I think in the PS-Version of it you can see which bosses are part of which phase since the windows lighten up on the beginning of each phase...
It's lame how Mr.Dark just escapes and that's it. Ubisoft really should take this opportunity to make a sequal of their BEST Rayman game where you confront Mr.Dark once and for all!
this is not what happens. Ive seen another video but i dont remember the link. Mr dark flys up in the air and shoots more things at you and fill the whole screen with those lazer things. It looked extremely difficult.
@RadioactiveG Lol, Funny, the only main Boss to actually return once was Razorbeard, but it was for the party game Rayman M/Rayman Arena... But that really doesn't count as a main villain role.
We think some versions say that he actually transforms into the hybrid bosses, still very anticlimactic, but at you actually fight him somewhat with that idea
@supermancrashin Yeah, that's it, they make Shadow Puppets now that I recall. lol, haven't played the game in a while, but Yeah, after they scare him, Andre comes back (Since Globox asked what makes a Black Lum and Rayman Replies it has to be scared, Andre's Red Lum form happens to be the one that gets scared.) And, the fact there hasn't been a Rayman 4 yet, there's a chance he may not return either.
@supermancrashin LOL, well i did say I haven't played in a while (Actually gave my copy away, and regret it now.) But while I haven't played Hoodlum Revenge, I would guess so, despite I don't think that was a console game, as many know, Console games are usually the main games for series, usually, But yeah, hah, thanks for the correction there!
Rayman Redemption turned one of the most anticlimactic final boss fights in a video game into one of the coolest I've ever seen.

They get it right in “Rayman REDEMPTION”, at least.
Oh wait a minute....
i love how in this game rayman was always smiling and didnt give a fuck about anything
That’s why he’s the GOAT😢❤
Not even realising Mr Dark was toying with him.

I really hope that Mr Dark comes back for the next Rayman game he was my favourite game villain when i was a kid :D
too bad he officially died in this game
I heard that the robot pirates killed him.
He didn't officially die guys he ran off, plus he's in a couple other games, even though those ones are learning games, he's in them.
Dumuzi Jesus Those were before rayman 2.
Moe Sabally Really? The dialouge on those games said he returned. The pirates didn't do shit, that is all fan theories.
Hard as hell game leading up to.. an extremely anticlimactic boss. Wish we atleast got to fight Mr. dark himself at the end like in the intro phase

Boy, do I have news for y'all
The idea is that Mr. Dark is a shape shifter. So when you fight the boss mash-ups you are actually fighting him transformed.
We need Mr Dark returning in The Rayman Videogame Series and especially Dark Rayman too and Mr Dark is one of my favorite Rayman Villains.
Without doubt the best boss theme ever made. Such a shame the battle with Mr. Dark was an anti climax to an otherwise brilliant game.
See rayman redemption
The bosses in this game look absolutely hilarious.
i loved the way rayman always smiled in boss battles lol
Is this guy what phantom meant in the mario + rabbids sparks of hope dlc ?
this game will never be forgotten, they even made a dsi verson not long ago XD
Tfw the video is titled rayman vs mr dark but he’s only in the fight for literally like 20 or 30 seconds and you only fight his minions.

The music makes me cry

All of them, when Mr. Dark flew towards the sky he simply shape-shifted into the monsters which Rayman fights afterwards.

You're doomed, Rayman...
Rayman is so calm, he's like wayne and garth combined
In the PC version where all the sounds are lower pitched than in the PSX it Mr Sax's honking noise sounds like farting. XD

You can actually punch the Skops/Stone guy at the start TWICE every time he launches his claw!

In the Gameboy Color version you actually fight Mr. Dark, so if they made that canon that would be how he met his end.
