Fun fact: From technical point of view, this boss fight is pushing playstation hardware capability to its absolute limits. If you count that two massive models, coco's model, background and so many particle effects had to be loaded at the same time, its insane that this boss run smoothly (on 60/30 fps depending on the version). Just a reminder, playstation has 2MB of RAM and it had to load everything and use it at specific times without any loadings. One of the things where they did save precious space is in the fact that you and N.Gin are not actually moving forward. Only the scenery is moving and the hectic movement from N.gin and stiff control from coco creates an illusion that you are moving forward. This way the "arena" where you are fighting is actually pretty small (probably big as Tiny Tiger's arena, although its little taller because of Phase 2). I was actually talking to Crash modders about this boss fight and they also said that its a miracle that Naughty dog actually pulled out something like this. Huge shotouts to all programmers because they had to probably optimise it like crazy.

Probably one of the greatest boss levels to be designed in a 90s video game. The fact they decided to have Coco annihilate Ngin on the freaking moon still blows my mind even today more than 20 years after release date.
@@zanegandini5350 The two actually fought in 'Nam together if we go by Twinsanity as the next game after this, N.Gin is still doing other things, he just considers Cortex a really good friend and wants to make sure the best is happening for both of them.

N. Gin used to be the first boss that I thought "damn.. this dude serious". Like all the others before him were cartoonish and not entirely serious, maybe other than N. Tropy. But N. @@CamerataAndrea2000 I know of a strategy for fighting Tiny: when he unleashes the lions, stay in the lower left or lower right corner. That way you only have to worry about the lions that come out of the far left or far right hole.
Looking back, the fight just starting abruptly without any establishing intro of Coco’s spaceship coming out of a time portal and the reveal of N Gin’s insanely huge boss robot is kind of weird. Especially when every other boss, even the final Cortex fight has one of those. XD I THINK the N-sane Trilogy remasters made one but I wonder if it got cut at the last minute in the original game’s development?

Darkstar263 Much like the other bosses. After you know their patterns well they are easy. But when we played this game as children, this fight was the real shit. I think it is the hardest fight out of the 3 original games.
One day, Dr Eggman asked his little brother to visit him to check out his new robot created in order to defeat Sonic. When he arrived, Eggman admitted that his new robot was still a little glitchy, and that a few modifications were recquired. When the brother, who was right in front asked Eggman if there were missiles in his robot, Eggman showed him the button used to cast them. Unfortunately, he pressed the button a little too hard. Thus was born N.Gin.

My greatest fear when seeing N. Gin's second mech was that there were going to be three mechs - three mechs for the price of three bars of health - as all the other bosses had only three bars of health.
@TheAllamondeSeries I'm guessing they record the voice actor saying N. Gin's lines. Then they copy the sound file. With the copy, they add a "pitch increase" which makes his voice sound a little bit higher in tone. And when that's done, they add a slight robotic effect. Then they play these two files together and that gives him the Normal + the High Pitched + the Robotized voice.
Can't tell if I like this boss fight more or his Crash 2 fight. Either way, a pretty fun fight and I'm happy Coco got to have a boss battle. It being split into 2 phases was definitely a surprise at first.
N. Gin from Warped and Cerberus Alpha from Mischief Makers are my favorite bosses from the 5th generation era - love the constant barrage of rockets and lasers as well as the kick-ass music
i only liked this boss because i got to be coco. xD she was my favoriteeeeeeeee back then haha. thank you for posting these! brings back good memories! 8D
I can't count how many times I fought this boss because it's too much fun. I actually made it into a challenge of getting my health down to like 3% of course that was an easy, just as a challenge of not to get hit XD. Even though I can do this while staying at 100%. And the music is great to that I can still hear it even with the sound
N Gin is my fav character, i havent started crash 3 yet (im palying the original 3 on my ps3) this bos looks awesome. what accent does n-gin have? it sounds spanish to me.
I noticed something about this boss in the European version. I believe N. Gin fires those laser guns in his first form for a slightly longer period, and they also take slightly longer to go down than in the American version. I could be wrong, however, because I haven't played this game, or this boss, for a long time.
