While I'd argue that _Rayman REDEMPTION_ has a leg up on the original... its version of the Mr. Stone fight removes his torso partway through. So you don't get the victory dance at 2:38.
omg thanks for this i was stuck on this boss and this helped me figure out some new manuevers. i can now beat him easiliy. im totally giving you a thumbs up.
You know, before I reached Space Mama's 2nd fight at the tail end of Picture City, I thought this guy was the hardest boss in the game; I was quite surprised to be stood corrected.
Can you send me the content of ur "dosbox.conf" file by pm plz? Because my Rayman with Dosbox doesn't play any music! It plays sounds but no music. And the CD doesn't look corrupted because I can play Rayman music on it with Media Player....
I never got past the first level in Band Land (2nd World). If I recall, it was called Bongo Hills. I've been playing this game ever since it came out on Ps1 in 1995. And to this day, I've never completed it. It was the first ever Ps1 game I played too. One of the hardest platformers I've played.
@RadioactiveG Really? I read multiple times that alot of key elements were never tested, like the spawning of cages and stuff. Maybe they just tested the animation and hit detection, but not the actual level design, or maybe what I read was bullshit.
@RadioactiveG I've heard the same thing but this is the only reference that I can find right now: "At the time of the first Rayman, we didn’t playtest our games that much. That was a big issue, because game developers don’t know the real difficulty of their own games. They have something like hundreds of hours of flight, when a player is still learning to fly. So we end up with a quite difficult game, but we were not really aware of it." raymanorigins(dot)uk(dot)ubi(dot)com/blog/2011/11/03/
@p433rmeyafreakin00bs I think nothing actually dies in this game. The beaten enemies don't even "poof" such as in other non/solf-violent games, they just jump out of the screen... And having some of the beaten bosses dancing with Rayman to his tune is not the only thing that doens't make any sense in this fantastic game.
I remember being stuck in this stone elevator that would go down, and me being a little dumbass back then, didn't figure out you had to cut the rope with your hair. Can't remember if I ever played beyond that level.
The Blue Mountains and The Dream Forest were my most favourite Levels!! Loving this soundtrack!! The Blue Mountains was the most fustraiting level to play..but it was great! ~Lenne~
@ theguywhoannoysme @ DxBALLxD Nice story. I hope you noticed the background (this level's graphics) and understand that according to this theory, The Blue Mountains had many presious rulers before Mr. Stone... There must have been a serious massacre, or that Mr. Stone is the proceeder of a long cruel tradition... :)
@Outside998 I'd say either what you read was bullshit, or it spoke of another lightweight version (not the PC nor the PS, at least in their final form). That description you mentioned suits state of affairs where this game is full of varied technical bugs. But actually, it's quite perfect from this aspect (and many others). Rayman's technical qualities are quite flawless.
I have rayman gold and I still use it, its THAT fun to me. I even have those rayman CD's that teach you about maths and english ^^ I still use them too!!
Yea, sounds in Rayman are still really good :) But I more like that sound from first part of battle with him. You know, when he charges... something like RRRROOOOOOAAAR!!!" }:D Sweet and nice ;)
@dumbasspauldentonkin Interesting, thank you. This phrasing however makes much more sense than claiming it wasn't tested at all. Being tested only by the "experts" does explain the relatively high difficulty, as well its fine qualities. :)
WTF? how come none of the bosses in this game actually die? I mean, Mr. Sax and Mr. Stone just get up and dance when you beat them, same with Space Mama. it makes no bloody sense:S
wow, thanks for the help, I knew that silly stone figure had something to do with it, and I like all the original Rayman games, 1 2 & 3. this raving rabbit nonsense has gone to far.
lol i loved this boss not just because he was fun to fight, but because he makes the most pissed off growl i've ever heard XD ahh... i miss the good old rayman.. not this raving rabbids crap, but how these games in my childhood used to be. 1993 ftw! ahh... where have all the good games gone? Sure, this game was hard as f***, but it was fun, and i beat it when i was like, 8.
I doubt THIS Rayman will return because of those god forsaken rabbids taking over the Rayman franchise and turning platforming gold into cliched minigame party. I would love to see a sequel to this too! one that you actually get to kick mr dark's ass rather than his minions fused!! XD
When I was little I never made it that far!
Great game playing!
Wow.
When you're not paying direct attention it just looks like a bunch of rocks.
While I'd argue that _Rayman REDEMPTION_ has a leg up on the original... its version of the Mr. Stone fight removes his torso partway through.

I swear I could hear Stone yelling "WHY?!"
BigEWR same...odd
Maybe a retroactive "WHY did I choose to fight him so close to that column?"
0:25 I love it when Rayman pulls that face when he's scared.
0:25
omg thanks for this i was stuck on this boss and this helped me figure out some new manuevers. i can now beat him easiliy. im totally giving you a thumbs up.
Best PS1 game ive ever played. Had it as a kid and to this day I still cant beat the game
I love how Rayman crawls at 1:50 xD one of this games many adorable little quirks.. Ah, nostalgia.
(1:50)
@@kylestubbs8867 why have you replied to my comment from ten years ago you absolute madman
@@FireSinger Because its timestamp doesn’t work.
@@kylestubbs8867 i cannot argue this point, thank you for your service
@MadeInOs32
Remember to mount the CD drive in Dosbox?
You know, before I reached Space Mama's 2nd fight at the tail end of Picture City, I thought this guy was the hardest boss in the game; I was quite surprised to be stood corrected.
Amazing. This big bastard was giving me a hell of a hard time. Thank y'kindly.
Lol I like the names in that game xD Mr. Stone Mr. Scorp Mr. Dark
*Mr. Skops, actually. But yeah.
How do i make my game work on windows 7 i got the PC version
Can you send me the content of ur "dosbox.conf" file by pm plz? Because my Rayman with Dosbox doesn't play any music! It plays sounds but no music. And the CD doesn't look corrupted because I can play Rayman music on it with Media Player....

Pica is that you?
Pica from One Piece become a stone man and is very similar at Mr Stone
@Outside998
There are 15 people credited for testing the game.
None of them ever played it you say?..
I love the way this game is animated :)
@RadioactiveG Really? I read multiple times that alot of key elements were never tested, like the spawning of cages and stuff. Maybe they just tested the animation and hit detection, but not the actual level design, or maybe what I read was bullshit.
Could you tell me that a little more specific? I have a Vista and an XP, and I would really liked to have this game on my computer. =)
Yeah wow, it's just such a brilliant concept i feel almost stupid not thinking of it earlier
Mr. Dark is surprisingly easier than this.
Mr. Dark was hardly a boss battle - A few projectile dodges, followed by chimeras of earlier bosses that _definitely_ don't count as fighting him.
Yeah, Space mama was the hardest of all
@RadioactiveG I've heard the same thing but this is the only reference that I can find right now:

Ah i remeber when i was young and played this game. This boss scared the living shit out of me!
They're certainly the front-runners!
I tend to find Stoney the main sapper of my stockpiled extra lives, though.
@crazybaby2211 Doesn't this video help you out? That's the reason it's here for...
How the hell did you find this video without even knowing what it was?!
~Lenne~
That's... Mindblowing.. Did you read it somewhere or is it just theories?
@NewFinalCountdown I thought the Great Escape was amazing....
i did not know what 2 do when i first faced this boss
Best soundtrack ever
pretty cool design for a boss
You must Admit, Rayman had the Most Hard/Epic Boss Battles for a Simple 2D platformer. (Also Great Music!)
Yeah. I never checked any of that. It was one of the first games I got after obtaining a PS 1.
is dat u saying excellent or is it da game because da playstation version does not say dat
you damn right about that
@SuperPro6UYA33 he isn't but some of his minions are
man, it take'd me forever to find out how to defeat this guy..
RayAndFlare, you get to kick his ass in Rayman GBC.
they are childish names, I LOVE THEM TOO!!
God This was the best music EVER!!!
@ theguywhoannoysme @ DxBALLxD

Mr.Stone should be in Rayman Origins!! He's freaking epic!!
what game is this
0:14 Rayman looks so cute
lol the dance at the end
how come mr.stone dances? when you beat him he gets a new head
The new head took over his old body.

EXCELLENT
the best rayman 1 boss battle !
Love it when Mr.Stone gets hurt. UGH!!! XD
rayman for DSI came out when i saw it!
SAME :D
really builds up tension, eh?
You're welcomed
^^
It would be cool to see a return of Mr. Stone and blue mountains in rayman origins.
Well… Mr. Stone came back in _Rayman Redemption._ That’s something.
Yea, sounds in Rayman are still really good :) But I more like that sound from first part of battle with him. You know, when he charges... something like RRRROOOOOOAAAR!!!" }:D Sweet and nice ;)
thanks for that could not figure out how to get past this level :-)
ray man saves the world
I love his theme! And This was the last boss that I met :/
ITS THE PC VERSION
Mr Stone always reminded me of Kevin Spacey lol
heck yeah!
i remember this ga me when i was 7 :)
this is my Favotire Lv's and Boss :P
Well, it just seemed like what had happened.
@dumbasspauldentonkin Interesting, thank you. This phrasing however makes much more sense than claiming it wasn't tested at all. Being tested only by the "experts" does explain the relatively high difficulty, as well its fine qualities. :)
@.@ i dno about anybody else but i think that rock that becomes Mr Stones' head at the end look kinda freaky!
WTF? how come none of the bosses in this game actually die? I mean, Mr. Sax and Mr. Stone just get up and dance when you beat them, same with Space Mama. it makes no bloody sense:S
It's a kids' game. Why _should_ any of them die?
I love the very start when it goes '....duuuuuuuh (dum dum, dum dum, DUM!)' Sory if you didnt get that XD
every boss besides mr dark has MS in the name.
ex: MoSkito
Mr. Sax
Mr. Stone
Space MaMA
Mr. Skops
So... Mr. Stone defeated the previous ruler of the rocks and turned his fallen foe's body into a totem pole.
Yikes.
Ok...who here thinks Rayman looks so cute in this game? Or am I the only one?
Nice vid by the way
HARG!
There is, you should search a little:)
I played it on Playstation 2, not 1.
this boss was soo easy the second time
@Mogman12 *cries*
The high difficulty is partly based on the fact that Rayman 1 was never play tested. Neat, hu?
Well, _Rayman REDEMPTION_ certainly was. Mr. Stone gets a second phase there.
his theme sort of sounds asian like...
do you think he might be asian?
this battle was a bit easy
Ugh, second hardest boss.
i got to art land then i died.....
Origins lacked the epic boss battles this game had, hope Legends improves and is on par with this
I remember playing this with my brother when i was 10 years old, he was controlling Rayman i did the shooting, rofl :)
CHildhood
wow, thanks for the help, I knew that silly stone figure had something to do with it, and I like all the original Rayman games, 1 2 & 3. this raving rabbit nonsense has gone to far.

Buy:
Rayman 3 for GBA
Rayman Raving Rabbids for GBA
both 2D platformers
@NewFinalCountdown
Rayman 2 and 3 were classics though. Raving Rabbids was good..then it got MILKED.
cool! now i know how to kill mr. stone
i beat him last night on the psp
Its a stone luigi, you didn't make it!
It's a football! I chiseled it!
@jmario232 what about little big planet ;) BEST GAME EVARRR lol
