Oceans and Black are some really underrated songs I've ever heard. You can tell they put so much meaning and thought into those songs, overall Ten was a great album.
Abraham Mercado Well not in The Netherlands. In The top 2000songs of all time in the Netherlands black was at number 9 , so you should probably move to The Netherlands ( ten also Crowned as second best album of all time )
How come "Black" is underrated?!?!? It is one of the most unberable music that still plays in the radio until today. I'd love to hear "Jeremy", "Oceans" and "Alive" instead but "Black" is always on. And I haaaaaaate that "do do do do ro doo" part.
I have a condition called synesthesia. Its an umbrella term for the different types. The types i have are grapheme color (letters to color) and chromesthesia, which is seeing sound as colors. @@MaryR.. well basically, it’s almost like a river of oranges reds and these golden brownish specks of colours around it. Eddies voice in this song is really red! That’s why I like it! Red and gold is one of my most favourite colour combos so yeah. I can give you more detail if you want!
@@MaryR.. sadly no… in the song “deep” for example, his voice is purple as is the majority of the song! It’s very purple and green! Which is again a rly cool colour combo haha. Also the song even flow has a lot of yellow in it! His voice is mostly yellow in this song. But what I’ve found out while listening to eddies voice, it always has a hint of red in it no matter what. Every kid in every generation has a soundtrack from their life. For me and a lot of others it is Ten. The defining years for me were my early 20's and Pearl Jam wrote my soundtrack. I feel an emotional connection to Ten and get a sense of nostalgia for a time that can never come again. Thank you PJ
The way he uses his voice as an instrument in this song rather than to get across an actual message adds this beautifully eerie ambiance to it. Truly astounding.
I remember listening to this album when i was 14 years old, and every time that "Ocean" starts I felt there's something so beautiful in this track, i just can't explain it. Now i'm 44 and i could copy paste the same thought. I just can't get enough of this album, so special. Love that fretless bass!
My dad is 44 haha but he showed me ten when I was 14 and the album came out when he was 14. Now I’m 15- even though it’s only been a little over a year I’ve listened to it, I’ve never known an entire album so fondly and loved an entire album. It’s a special connection to each song, and oceans truly does have something unique and beautiful about it. It’s the most underrated song on ten I feel.
This song always reminds me. It was October 31st in Corpus Cristi Texas. I sat on the monkey bars, dressed as a Marine Corps Werewolf. Next to me, my first love, Amanda. We plotted our trick or treat course. I brought my tape player. We sat side by side, listening to Ten. I got my first kiss to Oceans, as that south Texas sun sank into Halloween night. I can relive that day anytime. It was...perfect.
I listen to this song almost every day and I can't explain how much I get lost in it... it's honestly like I just disappear into the song and then it's over in the blink of an eye
almost 30 years later....still one of the most BEAUTIFUL songs ever put to airwaves. simply stunning! the image of the 2 older gentlemen fading away into a wave is just....emotional . in a great way....we will all fade away eventually. dust to dust.
First time I heard this as a teen in the 90's it very much reminded me of being alone at the beach at night. The song paints a profoundly vivid and calming image. So nostalgic now.
Turned 18 in 1990. Not sure if I appreciated it as much as I should have. Oh, my personal PJ favorite, right here, kids. Enjoy. Let music be your time machine, my sweet children!
There are not enough shots of Eddie with his shirt off in this video for me. The most gorgeous and beautiful song that you don't want to ever end. Can you imagine being sung to by Eddie just with his "ohing" part at the end of this song? Complete heaven.
I don’t care how much time has gone by, how much people talk about it or how popular it got... it’s always shocking to revisit this album and remember how perfect it is.
The most aptly named album of all time. The only song I don't love to death is Jeremy, and only because it was so overplayed on the radio and MTV. It is an incredible song in its own right, I've just heard it more than I needed to
jackie scorpio You're lucky to have physically been there, but I guess I've been lucky with having parents who encouraged this music for me, and listened to it most of my childhood.
I've always felt that Ocean's is the best song on Ten. It's very emotive and spiritual. Even not fully knowing what Vedder is saying it's still an emotionally powerful song. I especially love the use of the timpani. This song is the rock equivalent to a tone poem in my book. THANK YOU PJ!
When I was 11 i listened to this song the first time in my bed, in the dark.. That feeling was amazing.. This song still is that one song that gives me chills al over my body when I listen to it.. I'm 41 now but with this song, I'm back in my bed and 11 years old.. This hits hard..✌️&❤️
Were you listening through a Sony discman by any chance?? Bcuz if so we were doing the exact same shit. I used to fall asleep with my headphones on to the outro of Release...
I met my partner 25 years ago while this song was playing at a party,25 years later we still listen to the ten album and when this song comes on,always a smile at each other,my 16 year old daughter now loves this album thankyou pearl jam xx
My memory of this song was hearing and seeing the video in a cafe in Assisi in Italy and looking out at the view of the Valley below. (Yes the Assisi that St Francis came from, it's a Medieval town built on top of a hill). Below was wine growing country. One of the best memories that I have of living in Europe back at that time. Great song too.
This is one of my all time favorite songs ever, not just from PJ... It reminds me of when I was in high school, and we'd meet up at "The Rocks", this area near Sandy Hook/ Sea Bright, NJ, right at the beginning of the Jersey Shore, around where the bay meets the ocean. We'd go there after big things - like shows, prom, stuff like that. We'd pile up in cars, drive down to the shore, climb up the rocks, wrap our selves in blankets, and wait to cheer on the sunrise. Ten came out right before my senior year started (I graduated H.S. in June of 1992). This song is truly special... for reasons I'll always hold to my heart... Especially now... being married to the love of my life! We snuck there on one of our first dates... on the beach... after hours... and now we've been together for nearly 15 years, married nearly 13 years... Where has the time gone? Lol! This video is my happy place... especially that smile at 2:02! Wow!
As someone who has surfed for over 4 decades on the beaches of So. Calif all the way to Mavericks this song is one I can sit back after getting out of the water kicking it in my truck watching the ocean and it's absolute beauty and how I get to feel it's energy each and every day. Love this song
It almost feels like this song was made for nostalgia. Hell, this video even depicts the passing of time and the similarities between generations enjoying the same things, such as the ocean. And no matter how old I get, Ill always enjoy Pearl Jam.
I was at their gig at the O2 London in June 2018. Eddie is such a beautiful soul, he performed for us as if we were in his living room, told us stories about early travels to England and acid trips when the band first started out. He also invited his brother on stage and introduced him to us. Yellow Ledbetter and Jeremy were strangely missing from their repertoire. Looking forward for the next one. '90s grunge, how ecstaticly nostalgic.
This song and Black is simply why my favorite album of all time is Ten. I absolutely love this band and Eddie Vedder man his voice is just too majestic and hypnotic especially in this song.
What can I say... It's painfull and nostalgic in the same way. It's magical becouse of the drums and overall mood allmost like a ritual of some kind. This song can freez you and melt just like someone sad before " on a endless loop". I soo love this early album.
Love this song. Seeing this video brought back feelings of my first "rock star" crush. I was 13 and totally "in love" with Eddie... Still my all time favorite band. Got me through so much heartache. Can never thank you enough guys!
This song is eerie and otherwordly. Wow. Every single song on this album is brilliant. I am 66 and grew up as some of the classics came out-Zeppelin IV, Dark Side of the Moon, etc. This album is as perfect as any of them.

This song is eerie and otherwordly. Wow. Every single song on this album is brilliant. I am 66 and grew up as some of the classics came out-Zeppelin IV, Dark Side of the Moon, etc. This album is as perfect as any of them.
