Eddie is a survivor and that's why over 3 decades later pearl jam is still going strong. I was 29 when my girlfriend introduced me to PJ debut album ten and I've been absolutely hooked to this band since, I mean daily on my 39 mile commute to work they have been keeping me company past 32 years. I'm about to retire as I'm now 61 but even as I how out from my career one thing that will not be bowing out is my absolute love for this band. That girlfriend is my wife over 3 decades now 5 daughter's and a lifetime of Pearl jam's music. Not a bad life ☺️👍
That was a beautiful story, I love hearing people stories how Pearl Jam effective their lives and their hearts, I feel the same way, they have saved my life through the 30+ years they been around. I was 32 years old when the album Ten came out, instantly found in love with Pearl Jam. The love Pearl Jam family awesome fans!! Thank you for sharing your story 😊💓🤘✌️
There are times when I am having just the worst week at work.. Then I will come home on a friday night, have a few beers, listen to eddie sing and all is right with the world again. Thank you PJ.
I was dying, on dialysis and chemo at age 30. I had a toddler & me & his father (Shane) had already been together for many years. I looked at both of their faces memorizing every part, trying to be brave for them. My son is now 18, I got a kidney transplant & God cured my cancer, but we lost Shane this past January. I was the sick one, why did we have to lose him? My heart remains broken until I see him again on the other side.
@@ravenfunderburg4782 it’s amazing how you recovered from the dialysis and chemo (I had that too) So sorry your loss of Shane. May God bless you and son and keep you safe.
Oh, Eddie......God this band has just always got me. Twenty years of life, love, tears and heartache...you've been there with the soundtrack to it all. I couldn't love this band any more.
Jessica H. yes!!! this is so inexplicably abstract - the feeling it evokes within you. I don't think I can describe it with a single adjective , not that I have a weak vocab.
Pankaj absolutely. this is one of thoese songs that you never really expect. ive listen to them since i was a kid, ive always loved them. first time i heard this song, i think i played it 5 or 6 times in a row, and even now it makes my hair stand up, and puts me in a trance. but your right i still cant really find the words to truly describe the feelings it brings up
My dads favourite band before he passed away when I was young... Now that I'm older I'm appreciating why more and more. Love to everyone listening to this, regardless of where we are from.

This wasn't my dads absolute favorite but he liked Pearl Jam a lot. He raised me with Pearl Jam. I use to not really like them but now I'm in love with them. Ever since he passed, I've listened to Pearl Jam a lot more. I think of him more when I hear Eddie. We say that my mom's song is Last Kiss because she lost dad too soon.
This song is proof that a person, band or creative thought should never stop growing... Thanks Pearl jam, for never becoming stale and always keeping it about the music.
Such a a profound human being! He exudes class, he's a true gentleman, he feels deeply, he honestly cares and is as humble as one can be. No ego! True class!

The talent and ability this man exudes is phenomenal. Pearl Jam immediately took over as my number one favorite band , from the first time I heard Alive. They keep getting better as time goes on. "I could take your hand and feel your breath.. I pull you close - so much to lose - knowing that nothing lasts forever." So powerful and beautiful. I want a man to sing this to me.
Eddies voice is a powerhouse and this song is one of their best ballads but Matt’s harmonies just give this song such a good kick in the ass to make that chorus really feel electric and something special ❤️
Sometimes I try not to hear this song because it hits hard, but when the shuffle picks it, I have to hear it like 10 times and every one of them I begin to cry. Became such a personal song in my life since the first release then 10 years ago.
This song is really profound for me, given that Eddie/the band has experienced so much death around them, hell the whole seattle scene dropped in tragedy over and over, hell practically brothers to them. Kudos, I'll always adore this song.
Love how the piano and guitar sound like sirens during the choruses then fade away again until the final crescendo at the end. And Eddie's voice is just magical!
MrRichierich got very emotional in the car the other day listening to ‘Comes then goes’ Grew up with all these guys, and into manhood and middle age. Still feels surreal that Chris is gone and Eddie is the last man standing. You can feel his pain and longing in the song. It’s almost too much...
And its not like its only his voice. The band he got together rips. Do the evolution is the tripper ripper and literally 50% of it ripping is singer and band. Couldn't have picked a better pairing.
I hold this song near and dear to my heart!I just lost my beloved boyfriend on 11/14/13 at the young age of 51.We had just rekindled our relationship on 8/30/13,after a 22yr separation and had been together 6yrs prior to that. This was his song to me.Thank you Pearl Jam,for a beautiful song & memories!!Peace & Love
Clayton Browne I'm a massive pearl jam fan and I still think that this (and Black) are the best things they've done. I don't think given to fly is any where near as good as those. I might concede that Sad, Force of nature or yellow ledbetter are, but only just.
***** I'm not a fan of them, I only know some songs of theirs from the radio (and like all of those), but amongst these that I know, I think Black is the best. Followed closely by Sirens.
So I listened to this song like I would any pop song, letting it soak in, feeling its pulse, vibe, and words. Halfway in I'm HOOKED! Powerful and real, SO real to the core and GOOD!! Good as any song I've stuffed in this emotional catalog of my brain. I had tears!!....53 now and rolling wayyy down that rock 'n' road. From 70's Arena rock to Punk/hardcore and all the shit between.....Pearl Jam has NEVER failed, kept it real and faced Demons that have summoned Angels! (I know this!) THIS is a special band. I thank them for getting me through some tough times! We are NOT alone. Hold onto this!
I remember the first time I heard this song on the radio. My husband and I were pulling into the casino and I just had to turn it up. It hit me hard bc we were having issues and this song helped so much. Made me realize how much I needed him and didn’t want to lose what we built.
Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley and Scott Weiland. All gone. We need to protect Eddie Vedder at all costs people. The best music depends on it!
Seriously, what a fucking beautiful song. Eddy is so good here I don't even know how to act right. I dont know what to do but listen in awe. This song is pure truth and as real as anything I ever heard. It fucks me up every time.
This song has definitely grown on me since the first time I heard it. Their musical vision has grown so much since Ten and Vs. I was in college for those masterpieces and I can honestly say I appreciate this music almost as much.
What a song! I know Eddie gets alot of the plaudits but this band are just awesome. So intense, so beautifully in sync with each other just feeding off each other to produce beautiful, moving memories. I love the end of the song. Silence, with each other looking around and thinking "How freaking good was that".
Back in my Native village.. On a full moon night,me and her (crush) were walking down the street while playing this song repeatedly. We sat under an old oak tree.. i asked her out (you how difficult it is) and she just leaned toward my shoulder,i embrace her and say if this is her yes, she say nothing but kiss me on my lips.. i feel like it seems the world stop rotating. The moon shine so bright,we sat there under the shadow of the tree until mid night talking about every possible things we could do in our lives........... Time gone by... I went to the town to earned for my livelihood, for my family....i havent heard anything from my love.. I return back home on december and thats when everythings changed. She married to a guy who is 10 times (100times) smarter and better than me, yes,i am happy for her, because she dont need to worry for tommorow i know she surely will be happy for the rest of her life.i wish her my very best of luck!! I am thankful to her for giving me such a wonderful moment and happy moment of my life, that i wont ever had again... I dont know if this song relate to my story or not. But it always remind me of that night, the moon , the wind ,the cloud ,the ambient. If i had one wish i wish to meet her for one last time, there are so many things i wanted to ask her,so many things i wanted to tell her.. but i guess that will never happened.. I am sorry for my bad english but i feel like i must write this..to let go.
Don't worry about your English...you expressed deep, ephermeral sense that is very hard in any language...those of us that can share thgis with you truly get it, darlin'. And hey...we never know what the future holds...there is undoubtedly a Goddess-Woman on your path, keep your sensors open...you will know. Blessings, Meg

you know thats there is something special about a song when it brings a tear to your eyes when you hear it. this song instantly hits the play button on a video in my mind of my soul mate and one and only true love. i wish the fear would go away!
No kidding! Unbelievable how my tears well - love him, not the absolute best voice, but one of few who vocalizes emotion powerfully and I could listen for days
Esta canção é atemporal: resiste ao tempo, nunca envelhece. Pearl Jam é das melhores bandas do mundo, de todos os tempos! Muito respeito por essa banda. Minhas reverências.
I am a metalhead and generally hate alternative music, but I heard this song on the radio today and it's so pretty it almost hurts - the lyrics really hit home with me. I know the relationship I am in now will not last very long, but it is so very beautiful while it lasts...
I don't really get why people are saying that it's that different from their past. They've done ballads ever since Ten (Black and Release). This sounds like it could have easily been on Vitalogy to me. Except for the fact that Eddie's gotten even better as a singer (the falsetto on this song blows me away). This song is so incredible. And it's nice to see Mike playing longer emotional guitar solos again.
absolutely the smoothest transition ever... from playing acoustic guitar to electric guitar, phenomenal..... Mike mccready's a fucking Rockstar.... extraordinaire.....
Remember the first time I ever heard Pearl Jam. I was just a little one listening to my dad sing one of their songs as if it were his own. While riding in an old Pontiac somewhere in Louisiana. When it comes to vocalists that sing from their heart. You can feel every bit of the honesty and pain within this man’s voice. Always my most favorite band.
Pearl Jam's music has always reached me in my darkest days and pulled me back in the light. Eddie's voice is one of a kind. I have never seen them live and I always wanted to but never got the chance. Maybe someday.
I was fortunate to see them a decade ago in Perth Western Australia. I listen to their music and I’m right back there swaying in the crowd with a huge smile on my face. Timeless epiphanies 💕
Me also, one of my life regrets is not seeing Pearl Jam live in concert, I want to say some day but.... I've been a huge fan since the beginning 1991 I fell deeply in love with Eddie's vocals and the band. My favorite band on this planet! 😊💓🤘✌️

Agree! absolutely beautiful I was Evanston Illinois today where Eddie grew up ;)
Don't forget about Rob Swire :P
ProxyCode Music or Billy Corgan.
ProxyCode Music And Dave Ghrol. And Chris Cornell. we'll just start there for now.
Liam M. Hennessey Can add Maynard James Keenan in there as well
Love how the piano and guitar sound like sirens during the choruses then fade away again until the final crescendo at the end. And Eddie's voice is just magical!
Thanks ❤
A masterpiece from a band who's been making masterpieces for almost 3 decades.
mrbobawesome 1990 to be exact
AMEN ❤👍💘💖💝
Yhea Thank God Vedder still here cause ain’t many left!!
@@caseybice6385 simplesmente linda!
MrRichierich got very emotional in the car the other day listening to ‘Comes then goes’ Grew up with all these guys, and into manhood and middle age. Still feels surreal that Chris is gone and Eddie is the last man standing. You can feel his pain and longing in the song. It’s almost too much...
This song is something special. Not sure how or why.. It brings tears to my eyes every single time.
Eddie Vedder is the best lead singer a band could ask for 🎸🎙
There no one who could match his lyrical genius!
Great voice and beautiful lyrics.
With massive charisma and authenticity.
Ain't that the truth. He's like Bowie living on..in his own way of course.
Ditto beautiful lady... 33 yrs rekindled and he sent me this song... I'm on my knees crying and happy❤
PEAERL JAM IS THE MODERN DAY ROLLING STONE.....THEY CONTINUE TO REINVENT THEMSELVES....GREATEST BAND OF MY TIME......INCREDIBLE!!!!!! BEST EVER......
A masterpiece, musically and lyrically. Truly moving.
I can't stop listening to this song.... Haven't been the biggest Pearl Jam fan in the past, but this.... This is phenomenal
this is nothing to compared to old pearl jam trust me
Tristan Lindsay Nah, this song is by definite one of their best. Black's still my number one, but if I wasn't nostalgic for it this would be.
Give the song 'Given to Fly' a listen
Clayton Browne I'm a massive pearl jam fan and I still think that this (and Black) are the best things they've done. I don't think given to fly is any where near as good as those. I might concede that Sad, Force of nature or yellow ledbetter are, but only just.
***** I'm not a fan of them, I only know some songs of theirs from the radio (and like all of those), but amongst these that I know, I think Black is the best. Followed closely by Sirens.
I love this band way too fucking much. They give me life.
+Caitlin Sutherland I feel ya! This band has helped me so much, without them I would be an emotional wreck
I second you
I feel you!
I agree!
Same here. Real life saviours
When I am sad this song makes me cry, when I am happy it makes me smile. It's always present in my life.
All

"i studied your face, the fear goes away the fear goes away" goosebumps every fucking time. kudos powerful song
I love how much this song makes me feel the lyrics. The beautiful emotion is simply bittersweet.
Eddie produces magic everytime he opens his mouth to sing. Effortless, amazing, devine!
Hold onto this!
right on
I hope the next generation finds these gems and falls in love all over again.
There will be no next gem...... Allbfalls apart
I'm 21 and this is my favorite band
21 and listening
William Hutto same we are already a fresh start in the next generation keeping the good stuff alive
I am teaching my kids....
I remember the first time I heard this song on the radio. My husband and I were pulling into the casino and I just had to turn it up. It hit me hard bc we were having issues and this song helped so much. Made me realize how much I needed him and didn’t want to lose what we built.
How are y’all doing? I hope everything is going well. This song absolutely beautiful.
His voice is just....
wow. I cant imagine someone with a richer and deeper voice than his.
His voice is one of a kind❤
Kurt Cobain, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley and Scott Weiland. All gone. We need to protect Eddie Vedder at all costs people. The best music depends on it!
Jay Kirwin IKR!!! Thank God Eddie a bit more stable and woke up before it was to late unlike all those Rock Gods you just mentioned RIP!!!🙏
Layne will always be my fav 😭
Yes...indeed
He's no doubt the living legend we're having now. May God bless him
Eddie is too in to life to finish like them. No risk at all
You forgot Chester Bennington...
Nádhera....Mám husí kůži ❤👍
Seriously, what a fucking beautiful song. Eddy is so good here I don't even know how to act right. I dont know what to do but listen in awe. This song is pure truth and as real as anything I ever heard. It fucks me up every time.
I love this comment! I don’t know how to act right either...it’s amazing the effort Eddie’s voice can have on you!
@@virginiaknighten4687 I can hardly control my emotions. Love this song!! He is a treasure!!
@@natalieflahive6964 yes he most definitely is a treasure...our treasure...
I cry every single time I listen to this song!! 😢 Why do I get so emotional. A beautiful song🎶 I LOVE PEARL JAM FOREVER ♾️❤️🤘💕🌹
Every song is Genius!!!!
This song has definitely grown on me since the first time I heard it. Their musical vision has grown so much since Ten and Vs. I was in college for those masterpieces and I can honestly say I appreciate this music almost as much.
Thanks a lot
What a song! I know Eddie gets alot of the plaudits but this band are just awesome. So intense, so beautifully in sync with each other just feeding off each other to produce beautiful, moving memories. I love the end of the song. Silence, with each other looking around and thinking "How freaking good was that".
Thanks a lot
Thank you so much for sharing!
Matt Cameron has added something so much with his backing vocals it's so good with the contrast to Eddie's awesome voice.

Roxy KandyKoRn You're the best!
So r u...😁
This solo is one of the most underrated in music history!
What a beautiful way to use that guitar!
12 strings
My favourite PJ song, it means a lot in my life.
The beginning of Mike's solo sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it
Eddie’s voice is so beautiful on this song that I actually feel knots in my stomach.
Thank you Mr. Vedder! Thank you Pearl Jam for keeping music real and rock alive. [peace!]
I love your comment…
Eddie's voice's so powerful
I seriously can't start my workday without some Eddie Vedder and this is one of my favorites.
Thanks ❤
you know thats there is something special about a song when it brings a tear to your eyes when you hear it. this song instantly hits the play button on a video in my mind of my soul mate and one and only true love. i wish the fear would go away!
Best song of the album.
Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Bound. Congrats
Already there...
The last man standing....
They all could live and give us amazing masterpieces like this.....
How do you make a grown man cry.................read the lyrics to this song ......damn I can relate to a lot of it ,,,,,,,,,,thank you
The voice of Eddie it's charming...Siren indeed!!!
this came out 3 years and since the beginning it was an instant classic
Written so beautiful
I love this song and Eddies voice is wonderful , the song brings up so many feelings
Goddamn this man knows how to make me cry...
No kidding! Unbelievable how my tears well - love him, not the absolute best voice, but one of few who vocalizes emotion powerfully and I could listen for days
Oh, I think his voice is incredible. I read that he has a 5-octave range. That's unheard of.
Wow!
because it's christian rock
+Nate H lol
+Nate H -Eddie Vedder is an atheist, how in the world is this " christian rock "?
Memories of my my university ♥️ time. And will always ❤️ 😍 💖 his 🎶 🎵 forever...
Sempre magnífico. Impossível ouvir uma única vez.
Concordo admirada pelo público e pela crítica. Poucas estão nesta lista com este quesito no currículo.
Man, this song only gets more and more incredible.
I am a metalhead and generally hate alternative music, but I heard this song on the radio today and it's so pretty it almost hurts - the lyrics really hit home with me. I know the relationship I am in now will not last very long, but it is so very beautiful while it lasts...
Something comforting about seeing 7 mill views/pearl jams name and vevo nowhere to be seen.
I don't talk much how much this band's music played apart of my life Ty for the memories The 90s🎉🎉
love that they chose to shoot this live for the music video. Amazing song. McCready and Ed at their best in my opinion.
Genius. One of the best performing artist in the world & it helps that he doesnt look too shabby either LOL Lyrics are easy to relate to. BEAUTIFUL
absolutely the smoothest transition ever...
from playing acoustic guitar to electric guitar, phenomenal..... Mike mccready's a fucking Rockstar.... extraordinaire.....
Truth! Highly under rated...
FSEVENMAN on a top 100 list he made number 1 on most underrated
Mike m ready best gutarist ever
Remember the first time I ever heard Pearl Jam. I was just a little one listening to my dad sing one of their songs as if it were his own. While riding in an old Pontiac somewhere in Louisiana. When it comes to vocalists that sing from their heart. You can feel every bit of the honesty and pain within this man’s voice. Always my most favorite band.
Pearl Jam's music has always reached me in my darkest days and pulled me back in the light. Eddie's voice is one of a kind. I have never seen them live and I always wanted to but never got the chance. Maybe someday.
I know what you mean...maybe someday.
About the same situation, had a chance in Virginia Beach but didn't have a ride.Like you say, maybe someday.
I love the power of his voice
Thanks ❤
This is legendary, also one of the reasons why Pearl Jam are brilliant.
Thank YOU Eddie Vedder for the ENERGY
It is a song that is born already as a classic.
