I will go to my deathbed saying: Nanci Griffith was/is one of the most under-rated, yet one of most influential, and uniquely great an artist, in both America and Europe, over the last 4 decades.
4 decades now since her first LP release. 4 decades of soothing, moving, angelic Music.
Kudos to all of NG's work; over her lifetime, and for making my own life a bit gentler, and kinder ~!~
Proof Angels do exist on Earth, if but for a short while.

Strangely enough, according to her Wikipedia page, she had actually died about a week before they announced it. Apparently it was her desire to wait to tell people.

    • @BrianCormackCarr

@@sneakerfacevids441 No, that was an error and the Wikipedia page has been corrected. The press release from her management actually meant that there will be no more announcements about the cause of her death until a week has passed.

She performed quite often in Taos, New Mexico in the 80's and it was always up front and personal! Consistantly one of the best performers to see in person!!! Townes Van Zandt performed on that very same stage as did Lyle Lovett! The Kachina Lodge and John Brown was the promoter! Right up the road is Red River that also hosted so many greats. Some of the best years of my life.

I love many of her songs, the pure strong quality of her voice, her tender rendering of being alive, steeped in southern expressions. Townes Van Zandt said her version of Tecumseh Valley is the best cover of one of his songs. One Fair Summer Evening is one of my favorite albums. Love at the Five and Dime is a treasure of American songwriting. Her singing Deadwood, South Dakota gets me every time. ** Thx, Nanci ~

Yep, some fond memories from Middle Earth. I left there in 1981 to go have a conventional life & raise a family & never really looked back. From a distance, I was pleased to watch Nanci go big & take some mutual friends along with her. I do regret never getting back in touch; but, hey, we are all saints of circumstance; and sometimes all we can do is continue to sing the songs. So, yeah; fare well, Girl. Ya done good.

Then she blasts her talent on her own. Super talented class act.

I have looked on the Internet often but can't find any news of how or where she is now.

I think the title may be incorrect because in the video Nanci refers to 'Love Wore a Halo' as a song that hadn't yet been recorded and as being due to be cut that coming summer. The album on which the song appears is Little Love Affairs, recorded in August 1987, I believe. I therefore think this concert was recorded in 1987.
