This Gauge Works company does quality work! Love the new gauge set. A lot of people don’t pay this much attention to the interior. But that is where you live when driving the car. It will make driving the car a pleasure. Worth every penny spent on it!
Great to see where things come from, put some personalities with the products. Thanks! The Tempest is gonna be sportin’ a snazzy dash for sure. Enjoy the build, we’ll be tuning in!!
That AFX set was probably made in Canada by the Toronto Airport. As a 9 year old in 1981, I would go to the AFX factory on Sundays and go dumpster diving through their trash containers. Including the compactor bins(crazy dangerous in hindsight). Had a whole bag of those slot cars. Used to trade them for 9 year old kid essentials ( fire crackers and cigarettes).
If my 86 trans am interior wasn't all original and working as good as it has been, I'd definitely go this route with my gauge cluster! Excited to see the tempest is getting some love.
I have old AFX slot car catalogs on my computer. I do not have a 1980 catalog, but the Fibebird Fever set is not in the 1979 catalog, and is in the 1981 catalog. I saw one Canadian release of this set that has a 1980 date on the box. There should be a date on the box somewhere, so check the sides and bottom of the box if you want to know the date.
So tell me, how does that new cluster fit in there? Will you be cutting an oblong hole in your original dash and then slip your new cluster in and attach it with some type of trim screws ?
It's nice that Dakota uses a handsome font for their digital readouts (Eurostile, which GM used a lot in the 80s/90s) but it would be cooler if they matched it to the stock Pontiac font.
I’ll be getting in touch with him to do my instrument panel looks like he does excellent work I just want mine restored original and then I’m gonna put a tack hood on it or put it was an option a hood tack

Hey Liv, The new gauges look great. Can't wait for the car to fire up. The pile of new parts are getting bigger. Take care and be safe.
Awesome upgrade Liv, gonna do the same to my 1970 GTO

Are you tempted to put Centerline wheels on your Tempest?
