Mr. Gasket made these gear drive parts for mechanical secondaries. Two arc shaped gears that mesh together. I am not sure how well they worked but they look cool!! Ebay.

The Jolly Holly has been a favorite for decades among builders and even came from the factory on some of GM, Mopar and Ford high performance models. They always been a favorite for hot rodders in their builds as well.

Good old Holley's. Back in the 60s That 3310 & aluminum high rise manifolds were the favorite switch for sbc 4 barrel quadra jets & BBC a lesson in time 👍🏻🎄☃️🎅🏼

Once you understand all the metering circuits and they affect each other tuning becomes easier. I had a 3-2 setup (Stromberg 97) on my GTO tri-power and could dump the clutch at 1200 rpm and pull away smoothly. I ran a 4500 Dominator (primarily for looks) on my rat motor and could do the same at 1800rpm (4:88 gears).
Tuning takes some time but it is worth it. Fuel injection definitely has some great points like traceability and mileage so yes on my daily driver I love it. Also, don't forget about throttle shaft wear as sometimes you need to have them re-bushed. It can affect a lot if too worn. Great video Liv, you always do a great job.

That was really informative, I was waiting for you to mention the Jet kits and fast forwarded, I should have just waited for you to get to the part. Then after it restarted, there you were explaining them haha. the 2 barrel that you showed is for limiting the number of re-fills that a driver has to pit for. And for fuel economy.

Stripped down, with 1 seat..It would run 14+ in the 1/4 Most of the time bumping 100hr....My holly set on top of a stock cast chevy manifold...Ran Hooker fender well headers...It was a blast. With the price car/ motor/ trans and rear...Less than $700..That included some fat 10X15 Recapped Slicks..Im a new sub...Thanks for the great videos..

That Holley 4412 is actually a could carb for a stock engine. That one is rated at 500 cfm. Has a 50 cc accelerator pump. I actually use one on a Dodge 318. Performance is very good and gas mileage is not bad at all.

Have you ever owned a set of three two barrel Holley carburetors? The most common were those made for Mopar. Ford had them on some early FE big blocks in the early sixties. I had an extremely rare Shelby six pack intake and the original carbs provided by Ford to Carroll Shelby and still had the Ford part number tags on them. Interesting video of a nice collection and thanks for sharing. Have you ever seen Autolite inline four barrel carb?

  • @auteurfiddler8706
    @auteurfiddler8706 2 роки тому

Everything you said was correct. Even some car experts think a 4150 means a double pumper when it actually refers to the secondary metering plate. You can be glad your 3310-1 is a 4150 type. The far more numerous 3310-2 and higher numbered ones are all 4160 types. They have the cathedral bowls, but no secondary metering plate. Of course Holley has been making kits to replace the plate with a block, but it is pretty expensive.
3310 with no dash and 3310-1 were original equipment on some 60's Chevy muscle cars.
3310-2 was a decontented version made for general aftermarket use. It sold great. The only carb that sold better was the 1850-2 and higher which was much less expensive. Like the one you have. The original 1850 was the stock carb one a 50's Edsel.
Believe it or not, Holley was known for making original equipment carbs and Carter made the performance carbs. This only changed about 1970 when 3 barrels, double pumpers, 4500 Dominators, and 3310's and 1850 aftermarket carbs gained popularity.
I consider the choke missing "unfortunate" as UA-camr Sleeperdude would say, and milling off the choke towers tragic, borderline criminal.
I have a similar collection to yours. I have a few with milled choke towers, mainly to provide parts for unbutchered carbs.
That `2300 two barrel is required for some forms of oval track racing. As for the holes in the plates, people did that to carbs that were on engines that didn't have enough vacuum at idle because of a radical drag racing cam shaft. It is a mystery why it would be done on an oval track carb. You could probably find some plates to replace the ones with holes. I don't know if the holes could be welded closed.
I am curious why you didn't use the hand choke when you started the car.
I think, if you are like me, you will want to add an original Dominator, 4575 with choke to your collection. The choke is 100 times harder to find than the carb, however and costs there times as much. You also might want to consider a "Three barrel" 3160, which looks basically like a 4160 such as the 1850 types but has a goggle shaped plate instead of the two secondary bores in the back. It also has an extra big vacuum reservoir, slightly tipped forward, like on a semi's 4160, to deal with the low vacuum in these applications. The three barrels are not expensive when you find them. They were kind of a flop and soon forgotten because of the better carbs Holley sold soon afterwards that I mentioned above.

Gratiot Auto Supply mail order used to sell the 3310's for about 100 dollars and the 1850's for about 60 dollar and sold a lot at that price. They had Thermoquads that were Chyrsler OEM surplus , not aftermarket, for less than that. This was around 1979.
