    This ball is played by a number of folks in my social club! Low swing speed test show it the longest ball, but getting it stopped is the problem except that it launches high. Good review Nick. Thanks

    I've gotten addicted to playing Supersoft 5 years ago after finding one and giving it a shot It's so good for my game. I've gotten used to it not spinning back on the greens and have adjusted my game to accommodate that They are long and straight for me to where I'm at points close to the green that I've never been with other balls Whenever I hit any other ball I just think yuck..and I hope they never stop making them. I'm stocked up like crazy. Love the vids.😎👍

    My wife’s favourite golf ball! She has R.A. but is still determined to play but her strength and swing speed have dropped! She used a few before this but loves her orange Supersofts! The launch, flight & extra distance help and she doesn’t have enough speed to check up a ball so not an issue!

      Nick I'm 73 and a slower swing speed, close to 80, testing Legato and Wright and Ditson. Both excellent distance good around the green and real good height. I got both on sale for 23 dollars a dozen. Also checking out Vice pro plus.

    I played this a bit last year, but I really like the new taylormade speedsoft has good distance and is actually good around the greens. I'm starting to get to the point it may be beneficial to play a premium ball, but information like this helps find good balls for a better price.

    Thanks for the updated review. Was hoping for more spin ( any spin actually ) around the greens to move to this as my 2 piece option. Seems like an overall good ball, but not in the same league with the Snell Get Sum for sure. Still hoping for a review on the Hex Soft soon.

    I play prov1 to a five but have lost distance. I found a Supersoft and tried it out. I shot even par 71. My long game is not long. I play the low ball and usually come up short. The Prov1 doesn’t help. However it does help my chipping game. Today I played the same types of approach shots. The ball hits a bit short by then hops on the green. I had several opportunities to put for birdies. Ball putted really well. Ended with about 80% no pressure putts. The ball showed to have more spin with my PW, 56 and 60 degree irons from 67 to 110 yards. Although I chip the prov1 really well, I’d rather be putting. Super soft helped me get on the greens. As for the driver, I was longer with this ball than the Prov1. I’ll buy a dozen and give them a try as we come into fall and then winter golf. Btw, my buddy is 74 and drives the ball really well. He shot 4 over par today.

    This vid made me think about trying a harder ball. So I got the new Costco kirkland balls and done a direct test today with 3 balls each chipping and pitching. What I found was the supersoft didn't need to be hit quite as hard and had a higher ball flight, it definitely did roll out a bit further but by hitting the kirkland harder it landed a bit further and rolled less for both shots to be by the pin. I didn't take any full shots but on everything short game I didn't find the supersoft to roll out that much more 🤷🏻‍♂️ however if I were pitching into a front pin with very little green to work with, I can see the advantage to the harder ball. I can say though that on full shots with anything 9 iron or less the supersoft balls spin a ton even spinning back at times

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  3 місяці тому +1

      So couple things here. First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to go out and do your own test and experiment. Kudos to you. This is what I'm hoping everyone starts doing.
      Although, I wish you had picked a different golf ball to test it up against. The Kirkland V3 is one of the worst golf balls I've ever tested. And it's extremely firm. I would definitely love to see you try the test again with maybe more of a balanced mid-range ball like a vice air or something of that nature. If you ever get the opportunity please try another test. But thank you so much for sharing your feedback with the channel and others about your experience 😁

      @GolfBallAddict oh dayumn well that was an unexpected opinion on the kirkland ball. I saw so many reviews on how much people like the ball and how it stacks up really well with some of the other premium brands. Because of that I couldn't say no when I was doing my shopping and got the 24 pack haha. I found a lost pro V1 in the woods should I try that? Or I have a few titelist true feels new

    I won 2 sleeves of this ball in my league. This ball goes long. This ball goes straight. When I hit a shot to the green, I was usually at the back of the green or off the back. The next round I played the Wilson Triad (3 piece) and happily found my ball on the green when I hit it there. I’ll pass on the Callaway Supersoft.
    My playing partners even commented on how the Supersoft just will not sit down on a green.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  3 місяці тому +2

      Oh 100%. It's extremely difficult to get this golf ball to stop on a green for anything. It's all about distance with the super soft, kind of a niche market for just an average golf ball

The forgiveness is much less than the Supersoft, but I’m getting to the point in my game I need a little more feedback. It's a decent ball to play for slower swing speeds outside of 100 yards. But inside 100 yards it's a disaster pretty much. You're basically forced to play bump and run shots, can't use spin. And good luck trying to get it to stop out of a bunker.

  • @Medevah
    @Medevah 5 місяців тому +3

    Callaway has clearly went with a firm core and soft cover, whereas TM went the other way. Long response ahead.
    As far as spin goes, it’s all about club head speed. At 50 yards, I have several options: near full 60, three-quarter 54, pitch 48. As the club head and angle get lower, so will the spin. I’d hit the 60 if I needed to approach a pin close to the leading edge, a 54 if it’s somewhere in the middle, and the 48 if I want it to run to the back.
    If the ball compresses well on wedges, you will invariably reduce club head speed to compensate, thus reducing spin. Pro tip from a non-pro: never select a ball and compression on the driver speed and feel. 7 or 6 iron is where you want the sweet spot. You want your ball to force you to stay quick on your short game shots. For me, that number is 90-95. For everyone else, it’s different.
    My point here is that for $25 per dozen, there are FAR better options, unless your driver speed is in the low to mid-80 MPH range.

    I have found a few of these balls on the course and tried them over a couple rounds. I found them too lively on approach shots onto the green which isn't the end of the world, but the feeling from mid-iron shots was a deal breaker. I struggled to adequately describe how it felt (I personally described it as like hitting a spongy rock), but your description as a dead feeling definitely rings true from my experience. I am haunted by your comments regarding golf ball forgiveness, specifically related to the vice pro/vice air. That is a compliment. If I didn't trust your opinion, I wouldn't care what you said. So that leaves me wondering, do I want a ball that's more consistent or do I want better shots when I make better contact?

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  5 місяців тому +3

      That's a question I think every golfer needs to ask themselves.
      The thing is though, not every ball that lacks forgiveness will give you better on pure strikes.
      Also, it really throws your game off when an average strike goes 150, a pure strike goes 165, and a miss hit goes 140.
      Consistency is king for me

    I have two issues with the Supersoft…..#1 it explodes too much of the club chipping around the green for me, can’t tame the distance…#2 it explodes off the putter, once again, can’t tame the distance. I realize, if I only played the supersoft, I would get used to it. Just not for me.

      If your skill level is higher, the Bridgestone BRX and BRXS would be high on my list. Both are around 65 compression, but both are tour level balls. Fred Couples plays the BRX.

  • @fuzzybanana9128
    @fuzzybanana9128 5 місяців тому +1

    Couple quick things.
    Please quit talking about overcompressing, you arent.
    Im a 9 and would be a 2-4 if i ever practiced or played more than once every week or two. I just played them last rnd because of all the reviews and had zero issues. I hit my 50 degree further than your 9. Not a knock just showing i hit much harder/faster than you and had zero issues. I butchered 2 holes and still shot 80.
    My review.
    Decent length, fairly straight
    Good iron spin
    Very consistent
    Great putting
    Nice feel but kinda dead
    Now the elephant…greenside spin. I could get it to check no problem but it had to be a perfect little nip. Anything less it does lack. Very consistent ball.
    As someone who has also tested a ton of balls last 3 yrs i massively disagree with your top 50 assesment, its far better than that. Its not a ball for me but its a good ball.

      Oh absolutely. They most definitely are. That's one of the things I strive for in my reviews. I try to leave personal opinion out of it as much as humanly possible.
      The design I can't do much about, I mean it's kind of subjective so I have to put my opinion in a little bit lol. But other than that I try to just give you guys the numbers and what they are. Then you can do with the information what you will.
      However I 100% agree that I have seen many golf ball reviews where you can tell from the beginning that the reviewer isn't going to give it a chance.

    When I find one of these it goes in my wife's bag. For me this ball is horrible off the tee, especially in hot weather. You mentioned the matte colored ball had a different feed to the touch, and I noticed the same thing. I also thought the matte seemed even softer and mushy. This in my opinion is one of the worst balls on the market.

    Point of concern: I know you like to present yourself as someone with a "normal" swing speed. But I don't think that's true. I think you're faster than most golfers. Why? Because THEY DON'T KNOW! They don't know how far they carry their clubs. They don't know their miss tendencies. And they certainly don't know things like swing speed, launch angle, etc. This internet thingy, as universal as we think it is, is just a bubble a lot of people live in.
    I believe that, if your driver swing speed is in the high 90s (like mine), you're going to overpower some balls that others love. Why? Because their swing speeds are much slower than they think.
    They fall in love with this ball because, for them, it's a mighty good fit and the softness is incredibly deceptive..
    I've played earlier versions of this ball. It's softness is intoxicating. And (again) deceptive. It was so soft it made even badly missed shots feel pretty good off the face. But it can be deceptive. People who swing like you do (I'm only a little bit longer myself) would benefit from a 3-piece urethane ball right below tour-level. (TM Tour Response, Titleist AVX, Snell Prime 3.0, etc.)
    I subscribed to this channel because I thought you were relatively objective, thorough, and down-to-Earth in your expectations. I continue to get the impression I was right. This was a terrific video, one all golfers--even those not considering playing the SuperSoft--should watch. And a channel they should subscribe to.

      Thank you very much for the positive feedback. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and subscribe. It means the world to me.
      The only reason I advertise as the average swing speed is because of a study done by golf digest. I have no idea what the parameters of their study was, but it shows that the average swing speed for a male in the world is 92 to 93 mph. I granted over the last couple years I've gone a little higher than that. So you could be right.

    If you knew how to chip properly the results would be true. This applies to EVERY golf ball you review. But you're a high handicap, regardless of how delusional you are about your game..like most of us. But seriously, look at your chipping, you lack control and consistency. I enjoy your reviews, but you have to be realistic about your own skill and ability to properly diagnose how much spin a golf ball really has unless you're chipping is on point.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  12 днів тому +1

      Hey Michael. I appreciate the constructive feedback.
      However there's a couple things to keep in mind. The first is, I'm not a high handicap player. That's factual based on my handicap from ghin. At my best I was a seven, at my worst I've been a 12. I would definitely call myself an average golfer. Which I do. In fact at this point I would make an argument that I'm a little better than average. I'm consistently shooting in the low 80s and occasionally getting into the high 70s.
      Another thing, when I'm chipping on the Green I'm only looking for the rotation on pure strikes. That's all I'm doing. I use the hole as a basis but I'm not zoned or focused on getting the ball in the hole. I'm focused on seeing the rotation once the ball hits and how high or low it launches off the club.
      Last but not least, come on Michael. If you're going to pick a ball to debate with me on spin, make it be a decent one. The Callaway super soft is arguably the lowest spin golf ball that's ever been created. Now if you were debating the TaylorMade tp5, a golf ball that I recently had some issues with, I would understand a little more.
      Once again, I appreciate the constructive feedback, I always welcome in on this channel. But I just disagree with it. Have a wonderful day

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  5 місяців тому +4

      Well that's disappointing. For a couple of reasons.
      The first reason is that, you had a bad experience with the ball. It happens sometimes but I always hate it when it does.
      The other disappointing Factor is thinking that every time I recommend a golf ball every single person on Earth is going to have a wonderful experience with it. It just isn't the way it is. My channel is based on collecting data not only for the last 4 years but for the future so we can continue to learn more and more. The proper way to handle this would have been to just tell me your feedback and why you didn't like it so that way I have even more data in the future. Simply saying that you're going to unsubscribe and not come back I think kind of misses the point of the channel.
      I'm not trying to be mean in any way, like I said I definitely apologize for the experience being bad. But getting upset over a $30 a dozen golf ball seems a little bit of much don't you think?
