T-Fal ActiFry Review and Demo

- The T-Fal ActiFry is a product that I highly recommend. It really does a good job frying food with minimal oil. The ActiFry is very versatile and easy to clean. It would be perfect for a college dorm room because the clean up is very easy and combines the best of a microwave and a hot plate. I wish I had one of these when I was in the Marines. This would also be perfect for small households because you can cook an entire meal in it.
I will really only be using the ActiFry as a replacement for things I would traditionally fry, but many people use this to prepare "normal" meals. I have seen Chili, fried rice, stir fries and casseroles made with this. I have seen prices range from $110 to $299 on Amazon.
If you are on the fence, or are a kitchen gadget junkie, I highly recommend it.

Below is information from the T-Fal website:
The T-fal ActiFry is a low fat cooker that enables you to cook tasty dishes while reducing the amount of fat you are having. The ActiFry is engineered to minimize the use of oil while cooking. This revolutionary appliance allows you to enjoy great tasting a wide array of dishes but at the same time stay healthy and feel good about what you are eating.
With ActiFry you can enjoy cripsy, great tasting fries that are low in fat! By using just one tablespoon of oil you can make 2 pounds of fresh French fries, enough to feed a family of four. That one spoonful is over 200 times less than a traditional 3 liter deep fat fryer, which not only means that your food is substantially more healthy, but it is also more economical. The French fries have only 3% fat per serving.
Moreover, ActiFry is a versatile cooking appliance and can be use to create a variety of helathy, low-fat dishes with minimal effort. ActiFry is not just for French fries, it enables you to cook full meals such as chili, risotto, gumbos, vegetable, or meat stir frys, seafood, and even yummy desserts. ActiFry enables you to create your favorite dishes that are not only delicious but nutritious. Each recipe requires from 0 to 2 tablespoons of oil for four servings.
How Does It Work?
ActiFry is the result of 10 years of research and development. It has a unique stirring paddle and pulse heat system which cooks foods to perfection. The food is evenly cooked thanks to the stirring paddle and the pulse heat system will ensure an even distribution of the oil on each piece of food. Moreover the T-fal ActiFry heating system and stirring paddle combine to cook your food to perfection, hands free! No pre-heating is required; it's ready when you are.
To make French fries in ActiFry, simply place 2 pounds of freshly cut French fries into the removable pan, drizzle over 1 tablespoon of your preferred oil, and set the timer. The ActiFry does the rest, just wait for the timer to end and the alarm to sound. You can then sit and enjoy real French fries, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, safe in the knowledge that they only contain 3% fat.
For other recipes, simply place the ingredients in the pan as directed in the recipe, close the lid, set up the timer, and switch it on! ActiFry has a steam free lid and viewing window that allows you to keep an eye on your food while cooking. The automatic lid opens at a push of a button for your convenience.
Finally clean up is a breeze. The removable pan, lid, paddle, and tablespoon are all dishwasher-safe. That's everything you need to clean taken care of.

I was gifted a Tefal by a friend this year who had upgraded or inherited another model! It took this video and this long for me to learn the lid comes off for easy cleaning. I had been struggling all this time. i need a responsible adult, in my life, lol!
I bought mine in April 2011 and I only found this out by reading your comment before I watched the video! I wanted to know if I could use it without the paddle, now I know I can I don't need to replace it. Wish I'd thought to look on YT sooner.
No hipple back at it again, you literally helped me get my kids back because of this tutorial, I can't thank you enough, you a real one
I could hear the crunch! I'm buying one of these. Thanks for the review.
+nerocentric I really like that actifry. Thanks for checking it out
I am so happy to see this video. I have been seeing the T-Fal popping up all over the place, and I am glad to see an in depth review. Thanks Lyle :-)
+Spoon Fork Heart I think spring rolls and wontons would be great in it. I need to learn how to make those.

Good job on this tutorial bud, very informative and straight to the point.
That was absolutely great tutorial, you made my day. I leave big thumbs up for you mate, Good job...!
Wow Sir! Thanks for this video. I always thought you do not remove the middle attachment for cooking. I cooked fish cakes and they came out in pieces. Thanks again.
Thanks ! Had mine for years.... just took it out again to use after a long while... great tips and demo, I did not know you could cook without the centerpiece moving things about !
Good stuff :-)
Thanks. I hope you enjoy using it again
Wow me too
Same here i hope that using it now would give better results

+Rivet Gardener I really like that actifry. It has exceeded my expectations
I love everything that the acti fry can cook, much healthier and the possibilities are endless. Booger is the first person who introduced me to this product, before her videos, I had no idea what it was. Great review Lyle.
+FitAnge S I think it would be perfect for people that are really into fitness. I have a few more of your recipes coming soon

Great video!! I’m definitely ordering mine today
I really like mine. There are a lot of air fryers out there. Do your research
Got this at a thrift store for 10 bucks. Thanks, now I know how to use it 😀👍🏼
For 10 dollars you can't go wrong. I have had a chance to use a few different air fryers, they are all good at different things. I have quite a few actifry air fryer videos on youtube
This is so cool, might need to get one myself. Thanks for the review x
+the nepscots show I love that actifry
I'm all over this! I'm convinced now!
+Cookin' Amigo I see them on Amazon for right around 100 to 115. I have seen some people trying to sell them for 299, which is more than i would have paid
Thanks for the video. Just got one for Christmas so this was helpful.
I think you will like using it. If I were only cooking for 2, I would use it a lot more often
Lucky me, it's just the two of us now! I just make bacon and eggs.
I've been curious about this thing, for a while...I don't like to fry/deep fry foods, very often.....your video is very informative. Thank You.
+Judith Loue I really like that actifry
+No Hippie BBQ & Cooking Just to inform people...the T-Fal Actifry costs about $169.99 on Amazon, now...I will post a link for non-believers:
www.amazon.com/T-fal-ActiFry-Low-Fat-Dishwasher-Multi-Cooker/dp/B005GM15HE/ref=sr_1_1?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1458159099&sr=1-1&keywords=t-fal+actifry
I got one from amazon warehouse deals for $115, but its definitely worth $170, but I wouldnt pay the $399 that I have seen

+Kaelyn Cooper I have a few videos that I havent uploaded yet. I really like that actifry
loving that meal!
+Madison C Iowa Thanks. I love that actifry
Loved the video. The fish looks amazing. Can I ask a question? I have a hand me down “like new” actifry and it smells horrible when switched on. Like really bad. Is that normal? Have been running it dry and also with lemon-vinegar mix.
oooh this would be perfect for my little sister. She's currently in college and stays complaining about not being able to have real food.-Kayla
+Day2Day Davis I wish I had one when I first went into the Marines
Teach kids to cook with an ActiFry and not the microwave? Heresy!! ;-) Your brussels sprouts look delicious! And yes, I could hear the fish crunch! I don't have a lot of room for more appliances, but I may have to look into this! Thanks for the review. :-)
+Laurice's Kitchen I wish I had one when I was in the barracks at Pendleton
The actifry looks easy to make food. Thanks for sharing😊
+Dany Kao Thanks for watching
You've got me seriously considering one of these...
+oldchevy4x4 od for the price I got it on Amazon. They are anywhere from $100 to $299. I was good at $115, but I would have stopped at $135
Detailed review Lyle. I think I can get rid of the stove....keep my Power Pressure Cooker, get one of these T-Fal ActiFry's and one of TosTinMan's toaster ovens and be set!
+ArmadilloPepper.com LOL. It definitely serves a purpose. I really like how flexible the actifry is
I have had 2 of these and just realized now that you can cook without the paddle😂 it always said dont use the machine without it.😊
Thank you very much
Food looks great lyle
+elrabbitsbbq I like that actifry. Its very useful
Excellent, thanks.
Thank you so much. I appreciate it

That is so neat. Great review
+Cooking with Cricket (cricket516) Thanks. I really like that actifry
I might have to save up to get one, but right now my kitchen is so small. I keep adding shelves, but they are getting packed. LOL. This does look so neat, though
Hi Lyle!! The food turned out great, seems like a very nice product!! Tfs, Liza :))
+A Cozy Casita I really like that actifry
Very nice review.
+lovers4healthylife I really like that actifry
Thanks 👍
Is it safe to use around a wooded surface? Also near a wall.
This is a killer review...man but the fish looks tasty and delicious...thumbs up. You and Booger rocks.
+Ray Mack's Kitchen and Grill That actifry did do a good job on the fish
Wow! Roasted brussel sprouts in less than 20 minutes. When I roast them in the oven, it takes at least 45 to 50 minutes. They looked good. I could see that this would be a useful tool.
+Pidasian Hippie I really like this actifry. Very handy
we love our T FAL : )
We love all of our air fryers. also
Lyle, like I said to Booger, if I get one, I would have to store it under the bed. There's no more room at our little getaway. I love the easy clean up! I love the results on the brussels sprouts and fish. Was the fish seasoned with Kade's Season All too? Thanks for a terrific, in-depth review of the ActiFry!
+Juanelo1946 I used the cooking with kade fish fry mix on the fish. That is some good stuff. I hear you about the space. I am the anti pack rat
How do I bake pies in the airfryer I have the exact same fryer
I love my actifryer, but I think the paddle is turning in reverse. It turns with the curved arm, pushing food. I thought it should turn with the inside curve to toss food. Please tell me which way the paddle should turn.
but what good is something that has to adjustable temperature settings? Not everything cooks at the same temp.
Just picked one up at Goodwill in mint condition for just $3. Can't wait to use tonight. Gonna try chicken fried steak and chicken fried mushrooms.
I have done a few things like that in my air fryers. I hope you enjoy it
That’s very good deal and they Made in France. This thing I would be feel safe from exploding pressure in the fryer
That seems like a really useful tool and just thin of all the oil you will save over time!
+Paul W I like the less oil, but I like the clean up even more. No draining and straining, and the actifry can be totally cleaned in less than 3 minutes
What temp does it reach?
If timing noise is coming continuously. What should I do
How to adjust temperature in it
thank you! :)
Thanks for stopping by
This thing is the bomb!
I really like it
Hi. how do u set the temperature? i saw a few recipes id like to try but they specify like: airfry at 350 for 10 min
Clever man
Thank you
Love the Demo However the Sticker Shock for the T-Fal ActiFry after looking it up is a no for me. However on the upside I think I'm going to try doing some fish like this in my all In One Aroma cooker. It's worth a try. I know it don't have the air blowing feature, I shall see. Thanks for the video as always
+swampmammytheone I thought the price that I saw was high until I saw it on Amazon for $115. I figured that it was good to go at that price. I have seen them near $300, and I wouldnt have paid that much
What about the Toxic Teflon
If you had just taken a smaller bite of the fish we wouldn't have had to watch you chew for 20 seconds hahahhaa
You are probably right about that
On an island, fine. But on a counter, how much space for the open lid?
Plenty
Do you know if there's really that big of a difference between this model and the new T-fal actifry express model? I've been trying to find a comparison video for so long but can't. Do you think that it's worth buying the new one (it's about $80 more)? Or should I just stick with this model? All I know is that it cooks faster, but this model seems to do just fine with the cooking time so I don't know if I should spend that extra money.
I don't know much about the T-Fal Express. I can't see how it could be worth $80 more than this model. I bought mine on Amazon, and paid much less than the normal price. I think I paid about $110 on one of their warehouse deals
Happy New Year From No Hippie BBQ
It's nice that the oil doesn't splatter all over the place too.
+TosTinMan EasyCooking I really love this thing. I'm glad booger sold me on it
I wish I had one of those ....I have brussel sprouts in y freezer that I need to cook.
+imfreetobeme8 I love that actifry
Very nice
+Michael's Home Cooking I love that actifry
Does this hold any odors like the older air fryers I would cook fish then fries and the machine would keep that fish smell and fries and other food would taste like fish ect
I haven't noticed that
if you cook liquid in without the center peice does it go down underneath
I really havent cooked with a whole bunch of liquid, but I havent had that problem
The fish looks really. It makes me want to go get some snapper.
+Valerie Reese Actually for the price I wish I had got some cod. I hadnt had snapper in a long time and it wasnt worth the additional $5 pound
I'm looking for a healthier way of my.son eating french fries. We have a deep fryer but I'm looking into this. Does this make crispy fries with homemade fries?? Thxx
Not as crisp as deep fried, but they are good
I have a Tefal but really it's just an expensive chip / fries cooker. The paddle makes it impossible to cook anything else as they break up .. also because of the paddle you are kinda forced to do 1 thing at a time. Take the paddle out and you are in for a mess as the cooking bowl has a large centre hole in it which the paddle covers...
I kind of agree with you. I like my other airfryers a little more than this one
They do sell a basket attachment for it.
Bought an original actifry with no timer, that was never opened the other day for $50 Canadian lol Works great. Local store sells the basket I need for $30,so I'm all in for $80. If I had bought it on Amazon in Canada,I'd be in over $150. So I'm 😁
Have you tried the karmin airfryer?
I havent. I have used something similar at a friends house. It seems to be a great air fryer from what I have read
do you still use this regularly? I wasn't sure about these when they first came to market... Would be nice to hear your opinion on the long term use of this and if you still regularly use it.
I do. I have a sweet potato fries video on the way that is already filmed and I will be doing bacon wrapped scallops in a few days. I use it a lot more than the videos i post
I'm still using air fryers. Just an update
omg thats so cool i want one now and $115 that's not bad at all I'm just going to look it up. 😍😍 thank u for another video
+karlisa Fitness life I think i got a deal on that actifry. I have seen them almost close to 300 dollars. I wouldnt pay that much
Can we do cupcake in t-falairfryer with paper cupcake?
Ive seen it done. Just think of it as a mini oven
Good demo! But: Spray cans aren't very ecological. Just pour in some oil or use a reusable sprayer.
Can you do steaks in one of these?
I would like to know if when the timer rings it stops working or one has to stop it.
While I love the Actifry, the timer is basically useless. It beeps when the timer goes off, but doesnt shut the machine off. I guess most ovens dont do that either. I mainly use the timer just to let people know how long something took to cook
So I got one of these in a business used by 23 dollars, this unused but
lacks fin that moves food, I hope to be able to get it, thanks for
answering.
To be honest with you. I dont use the paddle that much with food that is breaded because it has a tendency to knock the breading off the food. I only use my paddle about 40 to 50 percent of the time.
Happy New Year From No Hippie BBQ
get a spray bottle, and put your oil in it, voila!
advice taken
How long would it take to fry a potato
I'm not totally sure. I'm thinking about 45 minutes in this air fryer
Fred flintstone brontosaurus portion size!!
Biggest I've ever cooked for sure
Can I cook with out any oil maybe a little water ????
Yes. Just think of it as a mini oven
Am here because my friend gave me the fryer yesterday
you will love it
I have one, or had one. It broke after three years and lots of money. Now I have to service It. Its been almost two weeks and still they have not got back to me for where I can get It repaired. Its a wide world of choice we live In now. I bet Its going to cost me just about as much to repair It as It Is to get a new one. Which I am not going to do. I was hoping for aleast 8 years. The turn around thing In the middle also breaks. I bought a new one and I can see that the new one Is starting to break. The little turn around thing cost me 30 bucks.
I'm sorry to hear that. I have heard a few people mention that their paddle has broke over time. I must have had some good luck.
I should have said that my actifrie has stoped heating
nice like and share
+Pink Fairy Thanks
Man you add too much oil ... there is a spoon coming with the package why dont u use it ?
If I were you, I would add less
Got mine at Goodwill for $4.99
That's a good deal
friend beautiful... 😂Fantastic! Great video..
+Minnie Mause Thank you
