I'll spend the 50$ extra bucks to get my regulator how I want it, but Im someone who can't spend $500 on a nerf blaster, and the same goes for most people. Even if they have the money, very few can justify the cost. It's great for those who can, but there's definitely a market for much more affordable stuff
Yeah I’m one of the few who actually likes Regulator. Granted, the magazine-well placement is a bit off but this forces you to use a forgrip with this blaster which makes perfect. With that said, I got this kit on order now.
This is my favorite blaster!! I modified the stock board myself to run a duel battery setup so I could 2s lipo mod the flywheels and keep the select fire at a 1s lipo. It's just been super awesome for me, I think I will have to get this board anyway though. It looks really cool! Edit: I have no Idea how the stock board works, it was all trial and error untill it worked!
I like that the flywheels are near the front of the blaster despite its length meaning you don't have tons of faux barrel to slow down your darts Great video.
I wish you could of saw any of our regulators at the Florida table. It didnt get placed until later in the day. We have 3 modded Regulators in the NCFNC. All 3 still have select fire although my personal regulator's burst fire is a bit wonky.
Thank you for uploading this! I've been waiting for something like this to come for a while now. I always wanted to like the Regulator a lot more, but it's stock range and difficulty to modify was kind of a let down for me. Now I have high hopes I can make it what I always wanted it to be!
I use 2 Regulators in my standard war loadout, 1 (secondary) in a "minimized" configuration with no attachments and on full auto , and my primary which I'm running a afterburner using bits from a stockade, and hits 110fps and is set to burst fire.
I just found out about this mod kit more recently and it blows my mind you can get a good boost out of a simple mod. It's especially going to be useful for me since, like you said, it's friendly to beginning moders. Also, I truly agree, it does not get a lot of recognition because of its shell layout and internal functionality. Ever since I first heard it was coming out, I saw it and was like, "that is a PERFECT lmg for cosmetic ww1 & 2 mods!" I love the regulator, no doubt.
Based on the Regulator I have: - Sub-par performance (I can't get my regulator to reach 70 fps or above) - Inconsistent firing (The darts get caught on the side of my magazines only in my Regulator) - Slow fire rate (Slam-fire is faster than that) Or maybe I have a bad regulator. I don't have any friends with a Regulator, so I can't tell if mine is defective or not.
Could you put better motors, flywheels, and cage and still use this kit to keep select fire? Like could i upgrade this with a hyperfire kit and use this drop in kit to *keep select fire*
So 3 years later, I have come upon a regulator that could use some sprucing. Any follow up information on how this mod held up over time? Did it ever explode?😝
So much for upgrading my Stryfe, time to look for a Regulator and toss this board into it, more options, less grief. I got a regulator today at K-Mart for $32.
I got my regulator(my first electric) from a church sale for 3$. It didn't fire but all that was wrong was the conveyor motor has a gear box and it got misaligned just had push the gears back together and it started feeding. Was missing the barrel attachment and sight tho and came with slightly curved 10 dart mag.
@@BenAgain452 Like I said it has a lot of features that I don't understand, and it's cheap. If you thirft/buy a second-hand regulator (or helpfully buy a broken one that burnt out), and throw the 35$ board in it you can get a blaster with all these features you typically see on much more expensive blasters. Then you upgrade the pusher motor and flywheel cage for another 20-30$ depending on if you buy the cage or print it yourself, and you have a blaster with great performance and a ton of features that cost you potentially well under 100$.
The most modding I ever did was a longshot solid stage 1 and 2 from Orange Mod Works, and it didn’t even turn out well. Darts get stuck in the tight barrel. So while you say anyone can do this, I’m looking at it like there’s no way in hell I could pull that off.
The upgraded battery provides more power to the flywheels so that is why you are getting 100feet per second. Stock model will give you around 73 feet per second.

@@Its_lieseeeee Unfortunately not; it seems the only people who have it only use LiPos with it. I've been meaning to get one just to try with other batteries on one of my Regulators, but more urgent purchases keep getting in the way.
in all honesty, the multi-fire modes are lacking in power. firing several sets of burst shots from a single standing position shows you that there are three dart groupings. the flywheels loose too much speed from dart to dart in stock form. it is not a terrible blaster by any means, it just benefits greatly from being fixed up like this
hey..my upgrade kit suddenly died...i had it for 3 months..it usually run 2s lipos..since i replace the motors with fang rv.. but when im upgrading with 3s motors..and so 3s lipo..i just only playing it for 4 hours...then suddenly it's dead. no smell no smoke indicating any burnt..it just died..and idont know why.. i warning many mooders to consider 2s only for this upgrade board kit. (ps : my friends regulator..having that problems too)

in theory...if you have a half dart mag adapter that seats the mag in the front of the mag well, half darts may sit close enough to the flywheels that the belt pusher could still get the half darts there. in theory, at least
It is symmetrical as well unlike the Stryfe!. I need to see someone put the only aftermarket Flycage available into this and see how to get it wired up. I might just drop the stryfe to use this....

The Regulator takes Cs not AAs, and I don't believe there are C size IMRs. Please correct me if I'm wrong because it seems that there is something new everyday now a days.
Does the unit come with a low voltage alarm built in? I'm looking at buying one and wondering if I need to get a separate alarm or if it's already in there.

My idea would be to cut a small opening in the side of the battery tray and attach an xt60 plug into it. That way if I wanted to have a quick "fight" with my kids I could use regular batteries, but if I was going to a Nerf night I could plug in the lipo and have the longevity. What are your thoughts on that? I'm planning on ordering the nfstrike setup if that affects your thoughts on the subject at all.
@@s.sullivan5299 Yeah, it's been done. Just wire both up to the same circuit, but don't have both power sources active at once (or else you'd need a multiple-position switch for that). This was done with the Perses. You should be able to find the same kit on Amazon, compare prices before ordering.

Ok so I got the kit and here's my issues. 1. I've only got 3 round burst. No matter where I put the selector it goes 3 round burst. 2. The Rev trigger acts very oddly. if I pull the trigger nothing happens. When I release the trigger it revs for a fraction of a second and stops.
Would anyone here recommend this as a first electronics mod. I have spring mod experience. Also would I have to buy any other kits to use this kit and would I need a lipo
i hope they do another regulator run... maybe tweak it to make trb and full auto punch at higher fps than a semi-auto shot, fire faster, whatever would make it that much more popular. Better paint scheme?
I have a 41.5 crush OFP cage and worker wheels hitting 180fps, with all the original features. Here in Australia it's a Target regular. I used Outta darts MOSFET board on the rev switch, running on a 3s, and coz the battery tray was so huge, I used a 2s to run all the original internals. Yes that's right a 2 battery build, that runs all day! The stock pusher, loves the 2s and hits 7 shots per second. When I used this at wars it destroys peeps! I don't know why it's not a popular blaster?
Because think of all the hoops you had to do right there as opposed to just wiring up a Stryfe. Something like that fixes that completely and opens up the blaster a lot more. Now you can run the entire thing off a 3S and change the flywheel speed/ROF to your liking (at least I assume you can? I don't know exactly how these things work yet, but it has options for it).
I still say Hasbro missed a fantastic opportunity by integrating the select fire from the Regulator with the Halo MA40. Does it have select fire in game? Nope. But it would have had a much larger appeal and it'd have been more than a reshelled Rayven.

how does an afterburner set up work? i know its just a second set of flywheels, but is that like a second circuit on a stronger battery, or....?

I use a stock Regulator. It's a pretty decent blaster. I liken it to the Judge Dredd Lawgiver Gun.

It does, though I haven't tested it personally. IIRC it automatically turns off when the voltage hits the amount you set.

Woah this could probably upgrade a Hyperfire no big deal just get the selector added and IR/Rec LEDs mounted
