Sorry for the lack of videos everybody. We got a lot more coming, but I'd really appreciate the support liking and sharing this one. I've been pretty sick these past few days, though I think it's completely unrelated to the current goings-ons.
Speaking as someone who also has that priming grip on their Takedown (with a near identical spring load), a major contributing factor of the difficulty you're having (besides it just being a heavy spring) stems from the bit where you reassembled your Takedown with ALL of the locks still in it - the partial prime lock in particular has a dramatic impact on the difficulty once you increase the spring load, I cannot recommend removing it highly enough. Essentially, you're getting a horrific spike in the difficulty because the placement of the lock requires you to compress that much heavier spring PAST the point where the Takedown has actually caught, which is already at near full compression. I tried running mine with the partial prime lock in place for all of a day, and it was absolute murder on my arm - open it back up and yank that nonsense out, with heavier than stock spring loads it's actively detrimental to your ability to operate a Takedown.
Are you talking about the little yellow piece that notches into the bolt sled thing? I tried to remove that thing and it wouldn't prime at all, I thought it was mandatory.
@@WalcomS7 No, the problematic lock in question is the one that sits over the screw post immediately behind the slot in the shell that the pump grip slides along (that is tripped by the molded notches along the back bottom section of the plunger tube). You don't need any of the pieces that slot into that bracket that resembles a bolt sled though, or even that bracket itself - those bits are just the automatic trigger override and double-prime locks: imgur.com/WTa18f2 - none of the circled components need to be there for the Takedown to function.
@@davitdavid7165 Just got my ProRx spring in the mail today, just finished putting it in. I did what Matthew said and left out all of the yellow pieces and works great. This thing was not that impressive before, but now it fucking SLAPS. I recommend this spring for sure. Only problem was having to cut the fins down on the plunger, but other than that it was pretty easy. And another thing is that it’s hard as hell to prime with the stock grip, but it’s doable if I use my right hand to prime with.
Literally just bought the Takedown, and stumbled upon your video. Love this thing outta the box. Looking into the springs, grip, and speed loaders to make it that much sweeter. Thanks for the vid!
160 FPS nice - and added parts rock! Looks great and love that functionality - love firing it left handed with the double feed option using the jam release.
A full lenght mod would be pretty cool. A longstrike stock and a 10" barrel would make a somewhat futuristic feverdream- shotgun. Would have to remove the hop-up to get some performance back from the long barrel but it would look cool
Probably the biggest thing I'd like to see for this gun would be for someone to make a stock extension that the handle fits into and hooks onto the tac rails. If done correctly, that would make the gun less front heavy as well as give it more carrying capacity. Imagine a full stock that can hold two speed loaders in the stock while the modded stock also has its own tac rails.
thanks for making a video even though you been sick lately and you seen the Xero1tec kit for it? I am sure you have on the kit thing lol. still bummed we couldn't met in IRL tomorrow, but them's the brakes.
It would be so cool to see somebody make a Takedown mod that incorporates a stock and more traditional grip, I just feel like that would be a great mod to see for a sawed-off style shotgun.
How do you install the speed loader holders cause I’ve never modded a nerf gun in my life my entire collection is stock cause I’m scared of breaking things
I don't go hog-wild with spring-upgrading Rival blasters... the accuracy, she takes a nose-dive with them higher spring-loads. Though the Takedown seems to be doing just fine... and who doesn't love speed-loaders?
I got that stock I put the short worker grip on it from out of darts I also got 18kg worker Kronos spring with the worker grip it’s way better now to prim I do want to try foam freaks spring see how fps is compared to Kronos 18kg mine is also hitting 160fps
Priming Difficulty See if adjusting your hand position helps? try rotating your hand down slightly so that your fingers wrap higher up on the far side of the blaster, thumb pointed upwards instead of forwards. slight dip in elbow, forearm angling more downwards below the blaster, instead of horizontal out to the side. (you might have to take off that angled grip thing to use this hand position, since the finger hook is going to block the palm of your hand) anyway see if it helps, subtly changes the angles of your arm muscles for better advantage.
why not go with a forward pistol grip? you can prime it very easy with that since you pull back on a handle and not something you have to grasp horizontally. also, you can mod a roundhouse to hold 25 rounds which i still more than that takedown with the 2 magazines. if your talking aobut side loading the magazine keep in mind the extra time it takes you to pull off each magazine and then re-attach it to the gun is same time it would take to open a roundhouse magazine well and inject a round into it then reclose it. the only advantage is the bottom charger is much easier but a good 3D printer can make a side grip charging handle for the roundhouse and that would change the whole game since the roundhouse is more accurate than the takedown.
"I can't prime it." Well, maybe that is because you replaced the spring with a truck suspension coil. Lighten up on the spring strength (move down to K25) so you can actually use the blaster and so it fires straight. 165 fps is useless when you can barely use the thing and it doesnt hit what you are aiming at. 125fps is plenty for this blaster.
@@LepidoliteMica well I made a slight extension for the extra internal capacity. So its not the same shortness you exspect from the takedown but it's not a yard stick long either. I have a video if you may be interested in seeing in while it is currently being build. Almost finished of course.
You can put a rival round inside of the chamber, and put a rock, a stick, a Buzzbee shell, and A SCREW, and it shoots. Imagine shooting sharp pieces of metal at people with a Nerf blaster...
I said it before and I'll say it again. It's UNCANNY how relevant your videos are to my current thoughts. I do wonder if the speedloader is actually faster than manually loading a handful of 8 rounds considering you have to take the speedloader off, click it in, push it down, and return it to its spot.
Short answer: YES. Longer answer: Whatever additional time is added to the process of reloading - due to wrangling the speed loaders themselves - is MORE than made up for by just how much faster it is to load an entire magazine's worth of rounds in a single action. Once your supply of speed loaders is empty... well then it's a wash.
all those loaders strapped on, Meh I'll just stick with my Artemis they come out to be the same size but the Artemis gets less frequent reloading, better pump grip by default. why waste the money shoehorning a Takedown to be an Artemis when the Artemis exists?
You haven't looked at the price of the Artemis recently, have you? Also with this being a Kronos platform it's going to hit harder; no gears, no BS. There's a few decent use reasons in there.
@@WalcomS7 These current scalper prices aren't relevant to me. I bought mine ages ago when it was still in production and cheap. Less than the cost of a new Takedown+Boutique 3d Print Upgrades. I'm not seeing enough of a Benefit to warrant buying into a whole new package, not when I already have an Artemis and can invest in upgrades for it instead.
@@adriansue8955 That's kind of a short-sighted way of looking at things. If you wanted this, it's an option. You have something that works perfectly fine and is similar, better in some ways even? Totally fine, but that doesn't diminish alternatives existing. That's like me saying every blaster is garbage compared to my FDL-3 so what's the point of me liking anything that's not my FDL-3? More options are always good.
I feel that Nerf missed out on an opportunity with the Rival blasters. Could the Kronos and Takedown not have been engineered to accept speed-loading from existing magazines? Not to take anything away from the third-party designers of 3-D printed loaders. That kind of ingenuity must still be encouraged.
