I find they're not too bad generally, get about an hour at 4k. What is annoying those is occasionally (twice out of about 150 -200 recordings) the file gets corrupted. Very annoying when it happens.
I have watched lots and lots of tests on UA-cam of the CBR650R and CB650R and it seems so funny that the testers remark how the CBR is so quick and yet the two are exactly the same specification except the fairing and handle bar position and at high end a little more power because of the ram of air on the CBR650R. CBR650R definitely looks better, as in sporty than the CB650R. You will regret having a tail tidy on the CBR650R and CB650 in the rain and on dirty wet roads.

Sweet! Sounds like a good choice. Invest a ton of time in your training. Training requirements are a lot stricter over here than in the US. Avoid the temptation to do the minimum
I started on an R3 and really glad I did. Even with 320cc, I could get myself into trouble easily. I found that getting to 90+mph on the freeway really doesn't take much. I can't imagine how much more trouble I might get into with the CBR650R lol.

If you're keen to do a track day, on this machine, Go to Ron Haslam racing school. He supplies you with a CBR650R and all the kit including insurance. If you use your own at a typical track day, it can cost £200 in insurance alone !!

Great question (presuming you mean this CBR650R rather than the CB650R). For me the street triple rs is the 'better' bike. The ride and components of the ST, brakes, tft screen, quick shifter etc are all so good that the ride is sublime. Though as you say, its 3k more expensive... The CBR650R for me looks better and the fairing makes it more suited to a track day. Both bikes have made me want to do a track day on them however the fairing and 3k saving would probably see me getting the CBR650R for track days. Neither would work as a daily for what I need from a bike. So really hard to say for definite. I think I prefer the ST rs however if I had the money in the bank and was buying an extra bike with those two to choose from I would be debating it for weeks if not months. @TommyBarnez I might ride one next year. The Honda dealer had more issues letting me have a test ride this year because I only passed my DAS "A" licence in early May this year. Once I've had my licence for a year, it sounds like it will be easier. I can't afford another bike until next year :( . Triumph dealers maybe cater for the "middle aged newbie rider demographic" like me , and let me have test rides for a £20 fee , refundable if I bought a bike , which I did ! Honda really need to fix the display. They don't need a TFT (although the Triumph one was excellent), just a plain LCD like the Suzuki SV650 that can be read in bright sunlight, and back lit at night.
Havent ridden the 650f though seat heights the same so would presume very similar. I'm 6ft and I felt at the limit. Obviously everyone is different though.
Great review 👍 I genuinely can't decide on this or the ZX6R 😣 (yes I know there are worse decisions to be faced with lol 😏)I've seen 9k with free performance upgrade or chance my arm for 8700 with sport pack and save 1300 for other upgrades 🥴🥴🥴

@@colbyd.5044 I got the GSX750 but I would not recommend such a powerful bike as your first bike. Do what I did i started on a Ninja 300 which is now a 400 then the Ninja 650
Depends on what sort of riding you're going to be doing. Wouldnt work for me as in my first year I did just under 30k miles. However for someone who wants a bike for a bit of fun then it could be a great first bike choice
TommyBarnezTV it looks beautiful i am also planning to buy 650r first i was thinking about kawasaki zx6r but this bike is good for touring so changed my mind. what is the price of the double bubble visor you r used now? any link where can i get that online?
The major changes were styling and the guage cluster. The bike needs to hit 8k rpm to get to the fun part IMO as an owner. It will really go once you hit the power band. It's not a supersport like the R6 etc. where the throttle is fly by wire and another 40 hp. The exhaust is very mellow below the power band. Nice for cruising but you really have to thrash the throttle a bit to get nice noises from it.
@@smileydag since you're an owner please share with me your thoughts on the excessive engine heat, I've read about in forums, primarily at traffic lights and in stop and go traffic. Kind regards 🏍️✌️🏍️
Asthmatic?? It’s direct competition are parallel or v twins, that have significantly less power then this. This bike is NOT a super sport. It’s not a zx6r or r6 competitor. That’s the 600rr’s territory... this bike takes on the ninja 650....
@Bunnyshooter 223 They could've had a plain old school LCD , like the Suzuki SV650. They're pretty easy to see in bright sunlight or when backlit in the evening. But I don't guess they look as "cool" . I like the retro dials on my Triumph , but then I'm a middle aged old git !
I have the 2019 CBR500R with the same screen, I've seen the complaints about visibility in direct sunlight before buying it and during owning it - honestly I don't have any issues with it whatsoever. On max brightness setting it looks great in the dark and always readable even in the most direct sunlight. If you have a tinted visor/drop down you'll always see it, and even when riding without it in direct sunlight behind you it only gets /so much/ harder to see. You can still read it out or move your head slightly to a different angle or block the sun with your head - the speedo is not something you stare at during riding anyway and it will never be unreadable to the point where you're wondering if you've got any petrol left or are doing 100 in a 30.
@@Valks-22 I could see the speedo on my CB125R in sunlight but it wasn't easy, maybe my middle aged eyes aren't as sharp, I do find the retro dials on my Triumph Speed Twin easier to read, and the Suzuki SV650's display was a bit easier to read when I had a look at one. Agreed, the display on my CB125R was really good after dark. In a choice between an SV650 and CB650R , I think I'd have the CB650R because I could live with the display, I think the CB650R is a bit better bike on a few other things.
@@karlosh9286 could be, but also check the settings - friend had the exact issue but was running the factory 2/5 brightness! Agree, the bike looks amazing and delivers everything you could possibly need aside from agressive track day riding if that is what you aim for. I'm definitely looking to get it for the mext bike after I completely master my 500.
@@Valks-22 Bit late for me to check now, the CB125R got sold to fund the Triumph ! If I have enough cash, I could well end up with a CB650R or a Triumph Street Triple as a second bike, they'd both be quick enough for me. I've had a test ride of a Street Triple and like it, but it is so expensive. I need to wait at least until next year, and I will test ride a CB650R .
I'm 6ft, I'd say you're gonna be right on the limit. Have a ride of one though and see how it feels to you. Just saw your other comment about getting your license. Once you have test ride a number of different bikes. That way you will see what works for you.
Is it mostly scooters out there? Haven't been but will go on holiday one day and probably hire a scooter, though I would want to wear all my gear and from videos it looks like most just wear shorts and t-shirt😂
Really wish you stopped saying "it really goes for a 650", its a detuned, heavy block no where near the potential of a 600 in-line 4. Im not knocking it, i love the bike and the power is ample, and makes more sense than a pocket rocket supersport.

Love the review! Love the bike... sounds great, sexy AF and really is a contender for my list :-)
Yeah could be a good option for you to add the mix...
do you recommend this bike for beginners ? :D
Depends on the rider and training. Its not a definite no, not a definite yes :)
What is the max speed of this 650r with full system exhaust sir
ooo I wouldn't know. I would guess 140ish?
I'm a Duke 250rider I'm planning to buy a super bike I chose to go with zx10r zx6r or cbr 650rr. Which is good or me sir I'm confused
Aprox 250kmph😉
Bro its bike comfortable for pillion bro???
Not sure, I never plan on being a pillion :)
@@TommyBarnezTV so one request bro check it for comfortable pillion riding bro.... ❤️
Is it worse than older CBR650F for tall rider? I'm 6 ft 3 inches. (192cm)
Havent ridden the 650f though seat heights the same so would presume very similar. I'm 6ft and I felt at the limit. Obviously everyone is different though.
Great review 👍
I genuinely can't decide on this or the ZX6R 😣 (yes I know there are worse decisions to be faced with lol 😏)I've seen 9k with free performance upgrade or chance my arm for 8700 with sport pack and save 1300 for other upgrades 🥴🥴🥴
Nice! Havent tried the zx6r out yet, keen to give it a go soon
How big are your elbows? Do you have big elbows?
I'm in the market to replace my Ninja 650. I'm looking at the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SE ,The Kawasaki Z900 and this bike. I just love the look of this bike.
Look for a Ducati supersport s. It’s a sport cruiser like the 650. Looks double better than this bike.
Did you get the 650 replaced? That’s the bike I’m looking at getting for my first
@@colbyd.5044 I got the GSX750 but I would not recommend such a powerful bike as your first bike. Do what I did i started on a Ninja 300 which is now a 400 then the Ninja 650
Nice video, thanks.
Honda should have inverted the dash color
re 13:00 and the country lanes. I'm jealous . Hardly any cars :)
Yeah was a nice bit of clear road then 😎
*GREAT!*
do u prefer this bike as a first bike?
Depends on what sort of riding you're going to be doing. Wouldnt work for me as in my first year I did just under 30k miles. However for someone who wants a bike for a bit of fun then it could be a great first bike choice
TommyBarnezTV thxs for the answer ^^
is it the stock bubble visor or did you changed it ?
No that's upgraded
TommyBarnezTV it looks beautiful i am also planning to buy 650r first i was thinking about kawasaki zx6r but this bike is good for touring so changed my mind. what is the price of the double bubble visor you r used now? any link where can i get that online?
@@DeMoNiC36 it's an official part from honda. Code is 08R71-MKN-D10 and £55 according to website
TommyBarnezTV thanks brother😀
I wish the black version was sold in America
Yeah it really amazes me they arent selling it there
Its WOW!
Have they done anything with the engine? The older 650f was asthmatic
@@smileydag OK so they haven't then, that's a shame
@@smileydag since you're an owner please share with me your thoughts on the excessive engine heat, I've read about in forums, primarily at traffic lights and in stop and go traffic. Kind regards 🏍️✌️🏍️
Asthmatic?? It’s direct competition are parallel or v twins, that have significantly less power then this. This bike is NOT a super sport. It’s not a zx6r or r6 competitor. That’s the 600rr’s territory... this bike takes on the ninja 650....
Awesome review
Do 6ft guys feel problem in riding it?
I'm 6ft and felt ok
Nice bike
no one likes the rear fenders as standard!
You hardly have to blur the speedo out. It's so hard to see ! A bit similar to a Honda CB125R I had. That was terrible in bright sunlight.
Is this the restricted bike ?
No
beautiful bike~~~~ㅠㅠ
Who was the bloody twit in the white knickers wandering around in the background?
Haha he was a nice guy, came over and chatted bikes for a bit
So in summary if you like going slow as shit but feeling like a rock star this is the bike for you
How is the ride quality on poor roads ? is it stiff ?
Felt ok but the roads around me arent too bad. Few bumps which are a little jarring but think it would lose its edge with softer suspension
9:58 he is like 'i can do it all day'
I'm 5,8. Is this comfortable for me
Yeah I would think so
Hey Tommy, it looks like a bit of low ride for me. Would it be still comfy for a 6.1 guy?
I'm 6ft, I'd say you're gonna be right on the limit. Have a ride of one though and see how it feels to you. Just saw your other comment about getting your license. Once you have test ride a number of different bikes. That way you will see what works for you.
@@TommyBarnezTV Thanks!
The only thing I hate is the tail. It's like it was an afterthought.
I personally like how minimal it is with the plastics, especially with a nice seat cowl, fender removed and passenger pegs deleted it would look great
Screen not bad
Enough already about the quickshifter, I'm more interested in how it rides.
That is a sexy sexy looking bike. Tinted bubble screen does look good.
you want to try biking in thailand - that is hot - and humid!
Is it mostly scooters out there? Haven't been but will go on holiday one day and probably hire a scooter, though I would want to wear all my gear and from videos it looks like most just wear shorts and t-shirt😂
@@TommyBarnezTV their er's are full of people fallen off mopeds and scooter - most big bike owners do wear the gear though.
I bought mine 2 months ago, can't ride it tho... covid canceled my motorcycle driving class -.-
Ahh no! Something to look forward to
if only this bike had an analog tach.
This looks like something unlike the other color variation that i hate . The Ninja 650 Still Looks Better Though .
I do like the ninja 650, will be trying it out at some point soon
I strongly disagree on the ninjas looks being better. It looks cheaper then the Honda
Hey guys, is this motorcycle has automatic gear shifting??
No
Only scooters have that
Quick shifter... £170.. in your dreams...Try £345!
Really wish you stopped saying "it really goes for a 650", its a detuned, heavy block no where near the potential of a 600 in-line 4. Im not knocking it, i love the bike and the power is ample, and makes more sense than a pocket rocket supersport.
try £370 for quick shifter :(
Just double checked, 305 on website however I'm pretty sure I've been told different when in dealer. Might be some wiggle room from list price
try riding in thailand - that is hot!
Love that shit..😍😍
