A railway company unknown to me, especially the locomotives are very interesting. The sound of the engines and the horns is fantastic. A great video and excellently filmed.
Excellent footage and production in this video. Well done! 222 is one of the last surviving Illinois Central GP9s. These were the folks that brought us the Paducah GP10, and, as such, most of their GP9s were heavily modified. 222 is one of only three that I'm aware of that survive roughly unmodified out of the several hundred examples the IC rostered. It even has three of its "eyelids" over the class lights; a classic IC feature!
@@25mfd The last "phase" of GP9 production used two 48" fans in place of the earlier four 36" fans. 222 is a late-model GP9. Dynamic brake-equipped locomotives would have another 48" fan over the brake blister in the middle of the hood, but the Illinois Central didn't buy the dynamic brake option on their GP9s.
Between the slow speed the older engines and the commodity being handled it's like the Uncle Fester and Western. The fences made out of old corrugated pipe anduto fenders as theast buildings that have seen better days. For starters the better part of a forest of railroad ties to be inserted. Then @14:00 the crew got the jostle left and jostle right. That section of trackage between the two streets makes one think of an old Interurban line and with the autumn colors made for a more impressive look at the Shortline
Great video. Bad track, low speed, weathered GP9. Lots of trash on this one. What's in the closed boxcars? Nice to see those new ties along the right-of-way. It needs them.
@@BlackMan614 a lot of the main line fore the shortline has been replaced with new ties however the interchange points ties are still old and some are broken.
@ 4:08... the ends of some of those ties are resting on nothing but air... better get the M.O.W. boys out there let em' work their magic now @ 5:32... looks like they did do some work there... that looks fine
No wonder these guys are creeping along. Condition of those rails & ties are very bad. Great video. That whole line needs a complete overhaul.

Shortline called Youngstown Southeastern 40 me shortline known to only use Geep locomotive
Beautifully shot. That is some wonky track.
This would make a great model railroad!
Beautiful work, beautifully shot. That first locomotive needs a paint job and those tracks need work. Have a nice day 😊
I love the old geeps. Great job editing

so the 222 is a GP9?
with only two roof fans?
@@25mfdmodified? No dynamic brakes when built is how it looks.
11:38 great video! Well done!❤❤

Awesome filming, what a pleasure to see this, thank you

The managed decline of America.
Awesome Work!! Love the rough short line track and ex CN GP9RM!!
Nicely done, your camera and production work is excellent.
Second unit still has its old CN number boards. No more RCL equipment though. I’ve been on that engine
Excellent video ! 😁👍
Love this video! One of your best!!! Thank you!
Dueces! Good vid. Thanks!

The boxcars are used to haul scrap paper from North Lima to Niagara Falls.
Looked like they were empties ( by looking at the springs at least🤔)
So like GP9's, ty for this.
GP9? A rarity. Good catch:)
Both are actually
looks like theyre getting ready to do some major track work
Much needed track work
The have been working on part of line in boardman
State of Ohio probably bought those ties for the shortline. That's kinda how things work in that world.

Great video.
Exceptional video and channel! ✅👍🏽
I wouldn't mess with a Train that has a RS5T horn 😂😂😂😂
looks like they will replace the ties at some point. great video!
Awesome video Scott!!
A shoestring railroad. The engines need paint and the track is in dismal shape.
Looks like a daily adventure to not derail.
5:45 new ties!
1,031,000 total YT competitive railfanning foamer points awarded 👍
Guage rods occasional new ties. Gravel. Thats all folks.
Amazing how these old work horses continue to go soldier on under less than ideal conditions.
NARCOA is riding on the Youngstown & Southeastern RR this Saturday 8/19/2023 that would make a nice video
2:12 cool
Cool video
I hope they have the money for some MOW
Those tracks are almost certainly unsafe for trains
Are there wheels missing on these cars? I've never seen anything like this before!
No wheels missing. Why did you think there are?
Hi Scott. Terrific footage here, including your aerial views. Nice flying, my friend. Can you tell me anything about the RS5T ? Thank you. James.
Junk rails, junk equipment, hauling junk. USA baby!
I've actually seen worse at least they plan on new ties thats a good beginning.
Si era de Nacionales de México la GP9 de nariz alta y Ferromex no adquirió la GP9 de nariz alta, Porque no es de Ferromex
There are 3rd world counties laughing at how poorly maintained those tracks are. Pathetic.

well the usa is great at fixing up other counties crap, butt when it comes home we are forgotting and its our tax dollars
