*A very professionally shot video, Scott. **_Nicely done!_* I ran hundreds of trains on this line in the late 90s and early 2000s when I was Superintendent of Operations for the Youngstown Division of the Ohio Central Railroad. We ran 40-car loaded trains south to Negley with four GP10s on the point. It was all they could do to get up that 2.02% grade that crests near Midlothian Boulevard. The grade going south out of Columbiana was a tough one, too. I once ran a train of empties north that had 82 cars! The traffic at Route 224 in Boardman was backed up for about a mile each way after we passed through with that big train. The railroad actually looks to be in pretty good shape today. I saw several large piles of old ties along the right-of-way, indicating they've been recently replaced with new (or relay) ties. That's a good sign.
A good cut of cars in storage is big bonanza for the shortline. Easy money. No expense. They just sit on unused track. As long as they don´t have to retrieve them in winter in 3 feet of snow. They can add surcharge for snow removal. Cream on the sundae, not hazardous material. Thanks for the good shot. Well film + drone in colorful fall...and bonus, clean almost untagged cars.
That 2nd loco is a GP9 or something like that. As for IBCX, Indiana Boxcar Corporation, we see quite a bit of it in Jaw Tooth's Cincinnati Eastern Railroad videos because they have leased locomotives from that outfit.
I just want to point out that they are doing all this work with only four operational locomotives at this video with uploaded and they still are to this day
Hm. This has to be a model railroad. Only the locomotives are weathered, and i counted 4 cars with any sort of non-standard paint: 2 just had quick tags, one had an attempt at graffiti, and one had actual graffiti. Nah, just kidding. It's just unusual to see (nearly) no graffiti like this. Nice to see a high nose GP38-2, and an ex-CN rebuilt GP9.
@@vettebecker1 interesting... well rail traffic is used as a leading economic indicator... so now i'm thinking, is this a one off or is this a trend... considering how fast the economy has been moving (since the covid lockdowns were lifted, runaway inflation and super high prices) ... i don't think it would hurt to have the economy slow down a bit
A line so rickety, the horse fell off the engine!😂
I love all these videos of short lines
I concur!
Reminds me of Spurs every 5 blocks,1955 St Paul MN 👍👍💯
Amazing how clean the cars look-------no graffiti.
Men at work on a operative shortline , wish them success and keep people working ….

Back in the Jerry Jacobson days?

Y&S hasn't changed much since the P&LE days. Thanks for videoing this.
An interesting railway line and a great GP38-2. Very nicely filmed and presented. Thanks for showing.
Absoluteley fantastic.
Wow great catch thanks omg I surprised nothing derail those tight curves 😊
I think rickety might be an understatement Scott. Great video.
Not as rickety as the old Maumee and Western (now the Napoleon Defiance and Western) that Scott used to video regularly.
@@JeffRyman69 its been vastly improved
@@johnspencer7291 Indeed it has.
Far better than pan am
Even the crossing gate bells are shot....lol
That's a nice great hopper storage train
Very cool video!
Nice coming around the curve
Love this!!! Thanks a bunch!
Liked the vintage power❤❤
Too bad 5152 couldn’t be painted back in her southern colors
Thanks again god bless be safe
I remember seeing that locomotive in Andersen years ago!!
Couldn't help but notice quite a few unmolested hoppers in that train, many with a shine to them yet.
That's quite a way to say it
Very nice video, thanks!!!!!!!!!
Great video!
Scott,
I really like how you edited this video. Really nice change up of different views! Well done!!!
agreed
Wow Cool. very nice old school train. New friend here. - SweetDidoy -
Great Video
Shortlines rock! Lovely video thanks, will be useful for modelling my railroad in N
I was going to make a goofy comment about this video being "All fake. This is just a well done n-scale layout".🙂
The first locomotive is a former Norfolk Southern, but I believe the second one is a former CN one.
Awesome video 💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂
I didn’t notice it right away but it’s nice to see the old Alco trailing if my old memory serves me correctly.
EMD GP9
It also had an oddball fuel tank from a GE or custom-made.

Great job😋Scott. I thought the Y&S was long gone years ago. Thanks again!!
This is a newer shortline. Not the old Youngstown and Southern
Realy nice video thanks for sharing enjoyed the short lines i work on a short line in new jersey
Nice video with mostly Tag free cars.
Nice,a Southern high hood Long hood forward.
awesome is that a alco in the back tracks look top shape 😂
Enjoyed the video
This is such a cool video, great work!
Norfolk Southern with a major dysfunction
Ever wonder how long these two strokes will be around? What does it all look like in 20, 30 years. They’re already 40+ years old. Hate to see them go
5152 has an awesome horn
that poor bell!
Them 2 locomotives are strongggg. I wonder how many grain hoppers they were pulling?????

Ex CN GP9
They have locomotives all over the country.
Seems like every line in the tri state area is storing those shell hoppers...
Love to see innovative railway...😅😅😅
love it ty pauleeeeeeee
MAJOR SAND PISSING AT @2:50
Loooooooog hood forward.
Huh. The crossing at East Wayne Street in Lima is doing the same as in this video, the noise is cutting in and out while it's still down.
I wonder if this showed up on the most recent monthly signal inspection?
I'm not sure, but I was thinking about calling it in. I didn't know if it was worth it or not since the gate isn't going up or down when it's active.
What is the 1st Gen power ? Can't place the paint scheme either.
I just want to point out that they are doing all this work with only four operational locomotives at this video with uploaded and they still are to this day
Were they going into or out of storage?
IBCX 5152 LHF. The long hood is the front of the unit.
Show the entire train please.
I did show the entire train in the last location.
I love when the engine is reversed
Where is this?

Haha very similar to a model railroad. They sure did spend some money repainting all those cars.
Ai nao fazem a manutenção dos trilhos ja esteo todos sanificados
a lot of pellet hoppers being stored... i wonder why

@@evanstauffer4470 No manufacturing. Those are plastic pellet covered hoppers.
Was ist denn da los.In Deutschland fahren auf solchen Wackelstrecken nichtmal die historischen Züge.
Another ridiculous one man train crew by the looks! Don't understand it...
