So interesting!!!! I made up my own slang accidentally once too like Rachel haha! I was hiking with my Japanese boyfriend and he pretended to push me off the edge of a cliff and I was so surprised i shouted "yabunai" like abunai 危ない and yabai ヤバイ mixed together haha XD now we use that new word all the time lol some of our friends use it too around us 😂

Fun fact: Today I learned that it is physically impossible to get a paper plate of spaghetti to fall spaghetti side down. Try it. Or don't, because it stains floors really quickly. Which is another thing I learned today.

Here in Quebec, "excepté une fois au chalet" popped up as a joke related to doing anything embarrassing. It came from an arguably more serious incident - an aging child abuser accidentally confessing to a cameraman by saying 'I never molested my daughters, except for that one time at the family cabin', but the absolutely thoughtless nature of that confession struck local minds as being meme-worthy.
So now, if you want to use that in its meme format, you might say something like "J'ai jamais utilisé le mode Assistance à Mario Kart 8, excepté une fois au chalet." In English, that would translate as 'I've never used Assist Mode in Mario Kart 8 before, except for that one time at the family cabin.'

So I don't know if this is still relevant or not. But it was really common during my middle/ high school days. So in Germany when you were saying good bye to a friend after chatting with them you would write "HDL" (Hab' dich lieb) or "HDGDL" (Hab' dich ganz doll lieb). This basically means "love you" or "love you a lot".

"日本語でおk" is often used for some one who's Japanese makes no sense even though he is Japanese, so it means that when people don't get what you are talking about they use that term a lot. It's also used for someone who is pretending to be a Japanese while his Japanese is not perfect yet.

Chinese slang also uses similar sounding words to replace the original set. This normally gives it a cute-ish effect for what you want to say. A more recent example would be 蓝瘦香菇 which literally translates to "blue skinny shiitake mushroom" (yes, shiitake. not any other type XD). This is meant to sound like 难受 想哭 which means "I don't feel good, want to cry" and has a similar usage in English as "I cri every tiem". I think it originated from someone on the internet mispronouncing the words, and the blue skinny mushroom was born to make fun of them. These slang often die out quickly too and will be replaced by newer ones and at times you'll be made fun of if you use old slang. Kind of like memes...
We also use numbers as well like 88 to represent "byebye" in similar sounds (really really old slang that nobody uses now) and 66666666 to mean thumbs up, because it looks like a thumb.
