Jessica Nurack I wonder the same thing! I have a horror story. I walked into a two stall bathroom and one stall was occupied so I went into the bigger one. It smelled unbearably of vinegar. I looked at the gap at the top expecting some crazy woman to be staring at me. Or the ring girl.. But no. Phew. Thank God. =( I hate our public bathrooms. Always had.
It's cheaper and it's also for safety reasons. If someone has a medical issue and loses consciousness than it would be noticed much more quickly than if you enclose the whole thing.

The dad freaking berated me for cursing out his son and told me to go back to my own country( he didn't see me but he can tell I got an accent)............ I was literally speechless.
Dads just don't know how to act in public honestly, white dads in particular. I worked in a candy store after high school and a little boy came in and broke a 40 dollar novelty mug. His dad blamed us for "putting it too close to the edge of the shelf" and walked out refusing to pay for it. Any mom would have have apologized profusely and immediately offered to pay. That's lucky; my school didn't have those. I had to wait at least until someone washed their hands, but normally I wait for someone else to flush lol it's odd
Or they can just damn well deal with it. If they leave, good. I can have uncalled for upset belly in more privacy; I do try to minimize any sound but sometimes that just isnt going to happen despite efforts. I cannot and will not force further discomfort to myself just because "but people will hear me!"
@@ShadowSkyX True but some people have anxiety including me especially if there are unisex bathrooms and it’s that time of the month for me it’s just awkward I’m like “it’s fine it’s not a big deal” but it gets uncomfortable

I looked it up, and it seems that the reason Apagard isn't available in the US is because the patent for the active agents in the product was bought, then immediately removed from the shelves. I'm assuming this is because it worked too well and would drive other products out of business. Glad it's at least available on Amazon.
“Public toilets can play flushing noises if you are embarrassed and don’t want others to hear you use the bathroom” this might be the most considerate thing I have ever seen ;;
Your hair is so beautiful! In the 1960s and 70s, straight hair was popular among American teens. But we had no straightening perm and hot straighteners didn't work well. Solution: We put our long hair on an ironing board and our mothers ironed it.
I love how Rachel's method of convincing you to get the products is her usual craziness with cuts to cat footage, whereas Jun pitches the products like it's Shark Tank. It's perfection.
As someone from a major city I appreciate how clean and quiet the train station is. Also, I love how dark alleys are the best thing here. Go down an alley in Chicago and get robbed. Go down an alley in Japan and find a new restaurant or bar!

I 100% complain about the fact that we don't have pictures and/or at least menus outside of restaurants here ALL THE TIME! WHY CAN'T WE AT LEAST PUT OUT A MENU!?
I'm a picky eater, and sometimes I'm even afraid ordering something normal like a hamburger from a restaurant. Each place is different, and ok I know it might sound silly, but I go off of looks for food because it's faster determining whether or not the food would taste good. Like I'm chill with most food, but like tomatoes, mint, mayo, pork, coconut, certain cheeses, off the top of my head, I cant stand eating.
We're very lucky in the bay; as MOST places in San Francisco have their menus located outside. When I moved to the East Bay I was rather irritated that they didn't have them outside, and visiting home on the east coast? Good luck. Lol.
You apparently get a lot of the functionality by changing the seat. Amazon has such seats ranging from about $40 on up into the hundreds, though for anything heated or automated, you will likely also need to add a GFI electricaal outlet. Gabrielle Uy American toilets don't have bidets but most have at least 2 rolls(they're both normal though), it just depends on how crowded the place is or how often they replace them
Yeah that's a benefit of a homogeneous culture that frowns on immigration, Japan is Japan because they don't want anyone messing with what they've built over the centuries.
I have wanted one of those amazing toilets forever. The toothpaste and the beautiful straight perm are both amazing! My hair frizzes like crazy. I am definitely ordering the toothpaste right away!
They have the button and bell noise thing in New Zealand. And you don't have to tip either. And our bathroom doors close all the way round too. We also have those fluffy mattress things. And we have the straight perm.

There's actually more than those types in America. We've got natural cat litters in pellet form (paper or pine) natural clumping cat liters (made of walnuts or corn) the ball type that's ingredients are mostly chemical as well as the clumping clay litters. Each of those usual has several different brands and a few different options like scented or not scented. Clumping clay is cheapest (but it's actually made out of rare clay so that could change one day) and generally stocked more places but if you care about your cats health or litter box habits you quickly find a location that sells the other types. Kroger or Tractor Supply stock a good smattering of them or go to a dedicated pet store like Petsmart which will generally have a larger stock of litters on hand than other locations that only have one or half a shelf dedicated to feline defication.

One of the main reasons why tipping should be banned. In addition, I feel that there's one thing that America also needs from Japan that should be a big thing, GUN CONTROL LAWS!

America’s public bathroom doors are soo horrible. you don’t even get a kid looking from underneath, they can see you from the 1inch side slits you guys have I felt more privacy doing it in the woods than a civilised toilet
Korea has restaurant call buttons also. I happened to be at a Japanese restaurant in Daegu, Korea. After browsing the menu for a few minutes, I was ready to give my order. I waited. And waited. And waited. . . I started to get really irate. I thought "Where the hell is the wait staff?" Just when I was on the verge of storming out, I noticed the call button on the table. It was a genuine "Doh!" moment. :)
Korea also has the special toilets with bidets and certain places, often times shopping malls, will have them as well! Call buttons are a lifesaver honestly, I wonder why America hasn't thought of them.
Rachel: describes an American black woman perm (that basically, every black woman used from the 1910s until the rise of natural hair) Also Rachel: It's uncommon in America Me: chuckles in black girl
Its actually completely different as what African American women did/ have been doing is SOOO bad for your hair. Watch her original video as she describes the differences.
@@bumblebeehappy Bees I understand that it's different since I'm a black girl living in Japan. But she acts like the concept of straightening perm is an entirely new construct only found in Japan. And in her follow up video where she mentions relaxers, it seems like she still didn't understand what it is, since she said they weren't permanent. I'm just amazed by white Americans' complete obliviousness of African American culture. We've been in America for hundreds of years. I get really interesting questions from Japanese people that shock me, but I'm sure I'm the first black person they have ever met. I have nothing against Rachel. This page helped me adjust to life in Japan. I just find it amusing. That's why I said "chuckles in black girl"
@@Nisha_Chantel it's possible she grew up in an area where she wasn't exposed to black culture. There are many parts of America that simply have such a low black population that it's not really something white girls would know. I've lived in both areas and in-between. I don't believe she's trying to be rude, she probably just didn't get exposed to it. America has a lot of different cultures in different areas, not every American will be exposed to it all.
I'm not too fond of the fuzzy covers on a toilet seat. You would have to clean it every week. Where as I can clean the toilet seat easily with spray every day.... Not that I do. It's still once a week. But I can't tell if it's clean or not....gargh lol
#3: I emigrated to the US from the UK and I found the massive gaps in the bathroom stalls to be a pretty big culture shock and hard to get used to. I still don't like it! We have the same kind of stalls in the UK but they manage to put them together without leaving enough space for kids to climb in. Which... has happened to me too.... I remember one time I peed in a loo at a tourist site in the US where the stall sides were so high off the ground you could literally have seen my butt from the entrance. Didn't realise until I sat down and looked under. FORTUNATELY there was nobody else in the bathroom that time!
Cat litter has changed a lot overseas! America has multiple types of litter now. There’s still clay, but also walnut, paper, wood, etc. I used to work in a pet store so I was amazed to see so many different types now!
I live in America my friend carries a legit curtain in her backpack with magnets to attaches to bathroom stall just so people can't see through the cracks 😂
Agrees, Karōshi is a real problem.,. If not with all the bad sides, I might have thought about it as well.,. Not to mention that moving to another nation will Always mean that you are a second class citizen.,. In short, it means you will need to work always that much harder to proof yourself.,.
How horrified could he have been... most of the outlying areas in Egypt don't have plumbing. In addition, its one of the poorest countries in the world whose people regularly go days without bathing. Perhaps the horror was misplaced?
Bidets are cleaner but you need to clean them after use so its sanitary, if possible with bleach or products that clean it profusely because poop and pee. And almost NO ONE DOES THAT??? They just let water run???? At least in Argentina that's what I saw and know of, unless you are in a hotel, motel or hospital. Tp is faster, and less bothersome to use. It really depends on what you like though.
At 1:17 the reason they keep that part open is for ex: you can see if some has fainted on the floor and needs help you can crawl under the door to get to them. So it’s for safety if they need to get in there they can just crawl under the door to get there without having to bust down the door and it’s cheeper.
Toilet seat covers were a thing in America... back in the 60s and early 70s. I view them as something only a grandmother would want... because those were the only people in my family that ever had them.
@jetfowl said _"Toilet seat covers were a thing in America... back in the 60s and early 70s"_ I've never seen an American one that was as well made as what Rachel was showing though. All the ones I've seen seemed to dry out, crack, and start pinching in a week or they were wood and gross in a week.

I looked it up, and it seems that the reason Apagard isn't available in the US is because the patent for the active agents in the product was bought, then immediately removed from the shelves. I'm assuming this is because it worked too well and would drive other products out of business. Glad it's at least available on Amazon.

#8 Not only Japan, Europe has different cant litter materials too. :-)
So does Australia.
In california at least i can find natural cat litter that looks like like pellets
Sweet Archangel
And Canada
And Alaska ( I class Alaska as part of Russia)

I actually worked as a waitress for a while so I know, physically and spiritually, the pain of having to try to entertain people as an awkward af teen to make up for the rest of my wages.
One of the main reasons why tipping should be banned. In addition, I feel that there's one thing that America also needs from Japan that should be a big thing, GUN CONTROL LAWS!
I have no idea why America still does this when they could just raise the prices of the food or include a service charge in the receipt and take the hassle off of everyone involved.

Korea has restaurant call buttons also. I happened to be at a Japanese restaurant in Daegu, Korea. After browsing the menu for a few minutes, I was ready to give my order. I waited. And waited. I remember one time I peed in a loo at a tourist site in the US where the stall sides were so high off the ground you could literally have seen my butt from the entrance. Didn't realise until I sat down and looked under. FORTUNATELY there was nobody else in the bathroom that time!
