Thanks so much for this review. I was persuaded and now have the Shoei J Cruise 2 and it is the most comfortable helmet I have ever had. The streamlining is remarkable. No matter what speed, up to 70 mph, the helmet feels the same and unaffected by the wind. The view with the visor is wonderful and like viewing a large screen, panorama TV having previously peered from a letter box. My local roads are single track and the vision of the immediate roadsides is great. Also, glancing behind has a much better and adequate view that I have with my full face helmet where I have to turn my head much more. Very useful for merging onto a motorway. Flipping up the visor, a normal conversation is much easier. As you say the vents are very effective. The inner sun visor was a must for my local roads and makes the helmet complete. Very satisfied! Hi Chris, thank you for doing a review on this lid, I have the Shoei GT Air and it's the best lid I ever used. I used it on my gold wing but now I have a harley davidson cruiser and my GT looks a bit weard with this bike. I think the only helmet you can use on a cruiser is open face but most of the other brands I looked at make you look like you are waiting to be shot out of a cannon gun

Is it really more quite the the previous version?
It is still an open face helmet. For an open face it is quiet but if you want the ultimate in quiet then buy a flip lid.

After a year of owning this helmet all I can say is “please please go back to the original” the original j Cruze was perfect. Just to accommodate SENA they made it far from perfect. The visor always comes down smudged now…. Instead of amazing venting on the top of your head it’s now barely vents at all.
Ruined it if you ask me !

Plain nonsense that with such a helmet you don’t need a pinlock. You obviously haven’t driven one in rain...
Still haven’t quite come to terms with the aggression and dogmatism exhibited by correspondents on social media. People who come to the shop tend to be far gentler in their observations. Anyway, I do not believe that what I said is nonsense. I’ve had a Schuberth M1 since it first came out. I’ve done thousands of miles in it. Indeed, a few years ago, I rode down to Wheels and Waves in it, and it rained almost the whole way. Misting up was never a major issue, and indeed the Pinlock is still in the box. A couple of pointers. I do always clean the visor in Fairy Liquid, and this helps keep it clear. My bike is a naked, and as I said in my review a slight lift of the head has always cleared any incipient fogging, but if you sit behind a big screen on your bike you may not have the airflow that allows the visor to demist itself. Failing this, it may be that you are someone who generates a lot of heat in the face, and this may be the cause of any problems you have experienced. But my final observation is that Shoei is the most professional of helmet makers. This is the only visor’d helmet I have ever known them to offer without a Pinlock, so clearly they don’t feel an insert is necessary. They will not have taken this decision lightly, and so occasionally, as a sample of just one motorcyclist, one might have to accept that one’s own opinion and experience is not representative of the wider world. Given this, I do think it unreasonable to suggest that my observation was ‘plain nonsense’. And your accusation that I have never ridden in such a helmet was simply wrong. No problem with you sharing your views, but might I suggest that a less accusatory tone in the future would be more appropriate?

Honestly, with this price tag I would also expect a pinlock. Even if misting up is less of an issue.
I ride in a very humid central florida, USA and I've never used the pinlock. And i don't believe I'll need one. I still have one brand new that came with my Shoei RF-1200.
