- Shoei J Cruise II Helmet Review
rvz.la/2JlpdCc
The J-Cruise returns for its second iteration. Shoei's proven, premium three-quarter helmet offers superb ventilation and comfort. A sun shield is at hand to for bright days, and a plush interior works to quickly wick moisture away. The J-Cruise II carries a DOT certification. - Авто та транспорт
Best 3/4 helmet I've ever owned in 60 years of riding and having had many, many 3/4 helmets. Great looking, well ventilated, easy on/off with ratchet closure ( which I just love), and very comfortable. The flip down face shield is far thicker than any other I've owned. Wind noise is tolerable and 3/4 helmet good.
This is what i call review. You strip off all the removable part to show and review.good review! Hope you will maintain this kind of review
Love the helmet. After regular washing of top liner, getting it to snap back into place at the /frontvisor is difficult. They need better snaps to hold in place.
I’m hoping it’s a nice lid.... I have one on order... l already have a Neotec...
Interestingly, I got the J-cruise I with rachet strap, removable ear pads, and longer sun visor. Look forward to a comparison on the ventilations.
@alfred….. I got the J-cruise 1 with ratchet strap and other items you mentioned too. Ordered it from Japan as the USA model only offered double d ring strap. Got it on EBay, was 100% authentic, with even really sharp paint graphics and color way. Foreign helmets do not have the DOT sticker, so I remedied that for $1.50 again on eBay. Have loved the helmet but its nearing the 5 yr mark. Considering going to Neotech 2 for more coverage/ safety.
If this came in JUDGE DREDD colors, maybe...
"I Am The Law!"
What's the best/easiest way to get the cheek pads back in? I've been fighting with one of them for the last half hour trying to get them back in correctly.
Thanks for the review - I would like to ask:
1) for the noise level (both road noise and wind noise) Is it really more quiet than the previous version or is it the same? Did you compare both helmets on a road test?
2) I remember having a road test with the newer version and when the visor was down, the wind still was able to come in between the visor and my chin, all the way up into my eyes - Is this something that can be solved? If i'll try the old version, any chance that it will be better?
I ride a Goldwing here in Texas. I wanted the helmet for a long stretch of the ride. Upon buying this helmet, I immediately noticed a quieter noise level. The level you can tolerate on the highways. Not sure of an older helmet. The visor never gave me an issue with wind noise but I ride Goldwing with a windshield.
So my main reason for buying this helmet is because I can now sip on drinks with a straw or camelback. Another reason is it keeps me less overheated during hot Texas rides. I love the ratchet system. The ventilation sucks. Sun visor works well. Price sucks. Comfort is good. Brand name is legendary.
Spurg great info on the helmet, thank you. I can understand you not Anthony he takes why to fast. Lol
I miss Anthony, :(
Jordan Sparks At this rate I would even take high viz. Brian
Jordan Sparks ......Anthony now a big kahuna, so cant be bothered with we minions.
Almost as fast as you type! Gotta love spell check. Team Anthony!
I was given a shoei full it was great its old now 10 years so I bought a new full face not shoei cant afford it new$ 140 bucks works just fine
USA needs the Glamster from Shoei. Make it happen Revzilla.
@J G I picked up the RF-SR last year and would drop it in a second for the Glamster. Dumb name but very nice helmet.
Chromeburner.com for the Glamster - $407
I have a GT Air 2 with the SRL system. Thinking about going with a J Cruise for my Vespa riding. Will the system from the GT Air 2 fit the J Cruise 2 or did Shoei make it difficult, so you have to by a new COM system too?
If you have the SRL2 system in your GT-AIR II it will also fit the J-Cruise II as well.

I now ride a HD cruiser and my old shoei GT air which was great on my gold wing looks a bit weard on the harley. Is this the helmet for me?
My old Shoei GT air was perfect for my sports bikes. Now I have changed to a HD cruiser and find the new J-Cruise II helmet perfect for this style of riding. Soooo much more comfortable. Just need earplugs now, which is no big deal.
I would have paid $50 more not to have the SRL system. Same reason I won't buy a neotec going forward. Shame that Shoei is really narrowing the appeal of it's brand. HJC making better value proposition helmets nowadays
I agree on the SRL aspects. Wish it was easier to put in the Bluetooth I want.
I run a Cardo on my NeoTech (didn’t like the SRL system at all) it fits perfect and is mount just behind the factory SRL location, great helmet, even better with the Cardo!
Finally
How is it if I already wear glasses? any hitting with the dark visor?
It would hit the visor, but why would you wear sunglasses with this. Their built in!
@@Kahuna_550 because some people need prescription sun glasses ;)
Do you know if shoei/sena plans on updating the SRL unit to be on par with the new 50 series Bluetooth units? Or is an update like that probably going to have to wait for a new helmet redesign.
We have not heard anything from Sena/Shoei on this being in the near future. If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to our Gear Geeks at cs@revzilla.com or 877.792.9455. Ride safe, -Pat
@@RevZilla many thanks
Ventilation sucks compared to old one and drop down visor always fogged or smudged….
How do you install the sena srl 2 in this helmet?
The SRL installs by using the included tool to remove the side plates and clipping in the SRL's side plates and routing the wires through the internal channels of the helmet's EPS. The install is nearly identical to the one Sena did in the video below.

Man if it only was a bit cheaper
It's the extra ear room that makes it so God dam noisy! The most noisy helmet I've ever used even the neotec 2 is the same I've gone back to a j.o far better
Visibility looks okay, but not enough protection for me.
I mean, if you already get a SHOEI, get a full face, do yourself a favor..
The oval face shape is impressive, BUT I also enjoy having a lower jaw
@@sonics747 This is also my choice for city riding. My wife loves hers too.
Not enough protection for $550. Silly not to wear a full face helmet, even if you are a HD rider.
@@AkulaSpawn i have investigated hundreds of motorcycles accidents in 30 years and have never seen anyone wearing a 3/4 helmet suffer any additional injuries than a person wearing a full face helmet. The only time it would help is if you hit something smaller than the face opening on the helmet, which I have never seen. It is still a Shoei internally so the price is consistent with the quality.
$500+ for an Open face helmet ? ‘Overkill’ is an under statement since open face helmets aren’t quite safe and ideal for touring..
My Vega open face helmet cost $15 ( yes - fifteen) here in India which I use only for City riding.. ( I use Bell and HJC full face helmets for touring )
I'm glad you feel safe with a $15 helmet. 👍🏻
Hafiq Johari : Yep I feel safe with this ISI (DOT equivalent) certified $15 Helmet in bumper to bumper traffic at 15 KMPH ( as do millions of two wheeler riders in Indian cities )
I use DOT and ECE certified expensive HJC and Bell helmets for Highway touring !
I have investigated hundreds of motorcycle traffic collisions in over 30 years and I have never had a rider suffer additional injuries or death due to wearing a 3/4 helmet over a full face. Why do you think most motorcycle police officers only wear 3/4 helmets? They are just as safe in almost all situations you will encounter.
@@capecrusader6932 I agree! Deputies patrolling on their bikes all wear open face helmets for decades. I wore it for many years and it's fine.
Why all of these shielded open face helmets smoosh my nose is weird …
All helmets should have a Bluetooth headset system as standard.
I'd rather add a Bluetooth system that I want after the fact. All modern helmets should Bluetooth capable.
After a year of owning this helmet all I can say is “please please go back to the original” the original j Cruze was perfect. Just to accommodate SENA they made it far from perfect. The visor always comes down smudged now…. Instead of amazing venting on the top of your head it’s now barely vents at all.
Ruined it if you ask me !
Huh, still not a 3XL... who do you think are buying these? Us fat old big headed geezers on Goldwings that’s who... that’s why everyone has a RJ Platinum and yeah, $550 and no Snell?? Although I suspect the drop down is the reason for that... Oh well please keep making the RJ Platinum forever please Shoei
Just a DOT certification for $550? I think we're getting ripped off in the safety aspect of these helmets.
In fairness, no helmet that has a drop down sun visor can have SNELL certification. But I agree, an ECE rating would have been nice otherwise. If you have any other questions or concerns, please reach out to our Gear Geeks at cs@revzilla.com or 877.792.9455! Ride safe, - Pat
@@RevZilla REALLY???? What about the ARAI RAM AIR X??? DOT and SNELL certification!!!
I appreciate the reply.. I'm going with HJC F70. DOT ECE & about half the price. The helmet & rating industry need to get their act together. We are not idiots out here. If we're paying premium money we want premium value in the helmet not some crap Toys R Us plastic shell with a fancy name scribbled on it.
@@scottpeters2974 Arai don't put drop down sun visors in their helmets because the SNELL rating is important to them. Any helmet with the drop down sun visor will not pass SNELL certification.
No more tidy on ears..?
lame. totally boring and uninspiring.
