- Is Shoei J Cruise the best classic motorcycle helmet? I will try to give you my honest long term review of that helmet as the user of that lid. I had many other helmets in my motorcycle career and even now a have a few others so I think I can be really honest on that topic. If you have any other jet helmets which you enjoy - let me know in the comment section.

Totally agree. I’ve reverted back to this type of helmet. Couldn’t get the Shoei mk2 in NZ, so I bought the Nolan 44. Your helmet is user friendly. I don’t use my high falutin full face Arai anymore now. And good peripheral vision in the open face. Love the Shoei you have. Keep rocking Uncle.
Thanks mate. I also have Arai SZ-Ram which I need to start using and that is really similar lid except it doesn't have internal sun visor which keeps me away of it.
Yes, agree with all of that. I've had mine for about two years. It was a display model so managed to get it for just under £300. Absolutely love this helmet.
Good to know I'm not the only one ;)
Agree with all your comments, I bought the same helmet 3 years ago for the same reasons you stated, and it’s been superb, you got a great bargain for £100, they have made a Mark 2 now with some minor tweaks, so will buy the same again when mine is worn out, cheers
I also have Arai SZ ram x which is really similar and I will compare those two soon... and will say why I prefer Shoei ;) cheers mate
@@UncleLongbeard seems like the shoei inner lining material is very very comfortable compared to other brands/models.
Good review, best compromise between full face and open. Most bikers thinks its just for scooter riders and ignore the JCruise.
Yes, that's exactly what I think
Hmm...riding in the rain. I'm going to try that one day. But not today.
Just bought one Unc!
I hope you will enjoy that lid
Thanks! Just got the j cruise ii! Are you looking to upgrade? First impressions it is really really comfortable, but the noise isolation is interestingly louder than I’d expect even going at just 60kmph. I have a bell custom 500 with bubble shield, maybe it’s a placebo thing, but i feel the custom 500 is less noisy at 60kmph.
Ps. I exchanged from a glamster which i really like but unfortunately it hurts my ears so much when removing the helmet.
All the jet helmets are way louder than full face or closed helmets. Even the J cruise is the quietest I ever seen and had. I also have Arai SZ-R but it doesn't have sun visor so I prefer using the J. But it's condition is getting worse and worse, so the time of Arai is coming big steps ;) Anyway, if the silence is that important for you, the only solution for u is the full face... or ear plugs ;) Or sth like bell but I would rather have something in which I can lift my faceshield on every junction ;)
@@UncleLongbeard cheers. I'll definitely compare it more with my bell custom 500 (with bubble shield). At this stage comfort easily goes to j cruise but feels like custom 500 has better noise isolation 😂
Btw does your j cruise make creaking noises if you press/adjust the cheeks? Ie when you wear/remove it? Mine creaks abit oddly, thankfully it doesn't do it when wearing unless I press my hands on it.
I don't think it does, but I don't think I paid much attention to that as it never creaks while riding. Talking about bell - I can't tell much about it except that it's form over function. It might be even quieter and looks good but... try to open the visor when you stopped in a traffic ;) Also how are the air vents there for riding in hot weather? ;) Just sayin. J-cruise is not the best helmet in every aspect but it's sort of universal tool. Reasonable looking, reasonably quiet, reasonably working in cold/wet/hot weather.
How is the visor fogging in the rain compared to a full face?
No it wasn't fogging at all. Now I use similar Arai sz helmet and that one is
Just looking at getting back into bikes after a long time definitely a Kawasaki for me, advise on helmet as I wear glasses and need for driving
My mate is using that helmet with glasses and he seams to be happy with it. You might also check on Arai SZ ram X which is a similar helmet but with no sun visor and a dedicated place for the glasses. Just find a store and check what is more comfy for you
@@UncleLongbeard thanks I shall just as soon as I can
Hey ! I took my W out yesterday and it occurred to me how much I hate full face helmets. I took my shitty Harley open face out this morning which was miles better, but a little more gust protection would be perfect. Having watching this vid I think I need to keep my eyes open for a Shoei.
I always had FF helmets but I always had powerful bikes. Now on the W the comfort and visibility is more important to me than how well my chin is protected in a 120 MPH scrape.
I think it's a really good compromise between protection, comfort, and style. Fully open face are great but not so much for the rain or stones on the road or some other wasps ;)
@@UncleLongbeard I had a wasp enter my leather jacket when I was a youg man and it stung my tit around ten times before I could stop safely and get it out. My arm was panful and partly numb for days ! Bastards ! :)
Thanks for the good review 👍 I am considering this one for my Harley and wonder how is it in cold days compared to a full face one?
I rode my bike with no screen whatsoever in +4 degrees on a long distance trip and still alive... Well, it's colder of course than in full face but I got a proper neck warmer which can cover the face as well and it is absolutely fine amzn.to/3Bx89TI. However if it's 12+ degrees and less than 20 miles to go there's no need to cover your face, just a regular neck cold - same as with any helmet
Отличный шлем, мерил его. Очень хорошо сидит. Вопрос: ветер не задувает в лицо при закрытом визоре?) кто-то писал что в лоб дует в холодную погоду))
Absolutnie nic nie wieje, chociaż w zimne dni w brodę trochę chłód czuć.
Great helmet. I got mine for £220 so bagged a bargain IMO. 👍
220 is not bad really. I know I was extremely lucky
Yes, it was on one of those occasional 24hr price drops, but like you I’d be okay with paying full price next time, it’s such a good helmet.
The £100 you paid for yours is practically theft! 😂
BTW. Loved the UpNorth video series. The English/Scottish border is my home territory so it’s interesting to see familiar places through a fresh set of eyes. 👍
Siekiera!
