Yeah, it was a lot of fun. mostly it was stuff that I remember from my childhood, I admit, although we tried to create a load of references that a broad swath of people would recognize.
This looks amazing! Souls are my favourite genre and seeing talented devs like you make one is just a joy! My favourite soulslikes map layouts are definitely from DS1. It's wonderfully open and interconnected. Another great one is salt and sanctuary, shich does the same thing but in 2D. DS3 is my favourite out of the trilogy but I can't deny it's way more linear than DS1, that's its biggest flaw imo.
When we started the game years ago, the goal was "Dark Souls 3's combat with Dark Souls 1's level design" - of course, it's come a ways since then, but... that's how it started, anyway.
So, if someone finds some dumb means of clipping through solid objects, what would be on the other side of a given wall or floor would be consistent with what *narratively* should be there, then.
Haha! I wish. we're still constrained by our content loading tech, so if you actually do manage to clip through the wall, you'll find yourself falling into an abyss. But THEORETICALLY, if our loading tech was perfect, yes, you're right, that's the idea.
@@youtubeuniversity3638 I like that too, actually. TBH our loading tech is painful to work with as it's all trigger based. it took a lot to get everything air tight. I suspect Elden Ring might have something like a sector based loading scheme which is much more secure (of course I don't know exactly what they have)
I like how the broad strokes of Firelink were captured here. Must be an interesting exercise to decide what to keep and what to leave out.

nice game 😘 please make part 3 of the fall 🎮 game
I haven't forgotten! We took a pause to reflect and change gears because we took a brutal financial pounding on the fall part 2.
@@Overthemoongames1 im so excited to see how you explore the "AI uprising" from the perspective of AI
@@goldeneyeentertainment4136 That's certainly been on my mind.
Never actually PLAYED a Soulslike before. Maybe I'll change that, though.
In that case I'd be particularly interested to hear what you think of it.
@@Overthemoongames1 Just seeing this now, guess good I put my demo thoughts on another of ya videos!

@@Overthemoongames1 That's such a promising premise!
@@scas97 Glad you think so! I hope players feel as though it lives up to it :D

@@Overthemoongames1 I see, I see. I've not played Elden Ring, or, well, any Soulslike, so I'd not know either.
