There are multiple moments in this game which allow some cutscenes to be skipped due to a desire to leave. It really gives the player more agency but in a way that it true to the character.
The one that surprised me more recently is being able to leave Nanami in Kyaro Town, but there's even situations like when Luca goes to attack Pilika with his sword and if you say no Jowy will jump in to save her on his own, instead of you also helping. The only other game I can think of off the top of my head with this much situational dialogue is Earthbound. Makes me wonder what else I may have missed?
I like this ending, because it tells you a lot about Riou's mentality, or at least how I see it He accepted the rune with Jowy to fight and defeat Luca Blight, avenge Pilika's family and end the war. Then once that's achieved, not only does the war continue regardless, but he finds himself at the head of it and has to face Jowy, his best friend. As I played the game, I always wondered just how much pressure is going through his mind at that moment. If you accept Nanami's proposal here, it basically means that Riou was under so much pressure and grief that all it took was one suggestion to run away for him to take it. Honestly the writing in this game is just on a whole other level
Ridley's Crit > Boris' Evade all day, crit is just too good. That one battle where Ridley gets surrounded and can almost rek half of a battalion sealed that deal for me.
I only recently discovered that Critical Stacks as well. From what I understand, if you have 3 war units with Critical, you have around a 90% Crit Chance which just vaporizes enemies. I like to meet in the middle with it and have 2 Critical Units coupled with Cavalry, which gives you 60% chance plus the Cavalry Unit Boost.
Ridley use critical 5times in row in map battle capturing ridley, never blessed with rng to unlock another dialogue, because most people cant save ridley
@@MegaHarvI came here to say this about Ridley - Yet can also say Ive never recruited Boris even though I knew about em. Guess its a good reason to replay the game since I never did the Clive Speedrun Quest or remember doing it.. Since it skips through most of the game & you can’t technically get all 108 stars - I never liked it
I hear you. Critical units stack as well, so you can have 2x Crit chance and cavalry in one unit, or even 3x Crit chance if you want. Critical is OP for sure
I was actually forced down this path cause my game kept glitchen out in tinto either at the mayor house or when jesses sends his unprepared army agenst the undead.
While Boris is indeed a unique character, he actually does not count as a Star of Destiny. If you take this path and do what’s required to recruit him, it will lock you out of the best ending in the game.
@@haiderharbi because she registered as 108 stars of destiny while valeria dont, if you dont have 108 stars of destiny leknaat will not come before final battle and you wont get bright shield final skill
Mega Dad joke there 😂
“Boris with the details”
The Boris pun is an essential component to the video. I can't tell you how long it took me to edit to keep it in!
@@MegaHarv haha. Yeah it took me a few times to say it as well.
It completely flew over my head lol

@@MegaHarv I wonder if there’s anything that has gone missed. It’s kinda like Skyrim, people are still finding stuff left and right.

The writing really is something special, and I've personally grown to appreciate it even more with age
You also get Boris if you fail to save Ridley during the war battle and he dies, Boris will join taking his place.
I was once got this bad ending. I was just too cooperative and easily convinced back when I was young 😅
Can you get boris and get the rest of the 108 stars and finish the game normally?
Yes. Boris replaces Ridley's position/star in the stone tablet.
@@thehanabata cool thank you
Imo Ridley is more useful than Boris in tactical war

Well that's an excuse to get to it again 😂😂
Never a shortage of story tangents with dialogue in Suikoden II!
I'll be real with you I'm not exchanging Critical for Evade
he's not worth it since those who have the Evade are more than those who have Critical

@MegaHarv yep that's why I'm not interested in Boris

omg that pun, why are you so cruel to us Harv.
Pain though puns is my pleasure!
Beautiful quality you got there
I in-tinto try this ending 😂
I dunno how I missed that pun...normally it would "Crom" with the territory!
Ekek.. Bad Ending
Would that make boris the 109th star? Or does he replace his father?
I wish theres another game similar to suikoden2 that i could play.
Eiyuden Chronicle coming out later this year is a spiritual successor to Suikoden, so might be exactly what you're looking for!
Chrono cross is the closest jrpg game to suikoden
Awesome
how can I get this ending?
Just follow the steps outlined in the video, and try to flee from the Tinto area. Good luck!
redly must be dead or saved in order to get his son?
Wtf?!? Boris?!? That’s crazy
Is there any glith making han alive?
Han Cunningham? I wouldn't believe so. Can't speak for weirdness in the remaster

Sadly Yes

Are you sure about that? As far as I can tell you can still get the best ending this way, but I didn't actually beat the game this way to check
Yes boris and valeria, didnt count as stars of destiny, so obtaining ridley and kasumi is a must for true ending

😂
Hey
Oh, you have to do it. need them 108 stars in every suikoden. The best ending is 😢 that extra boss fight(jowy) and kill him
