Bright Shield Rune Bug in Suikoden II

In Suikoden II, the Bright Shield Rune is the Hero's Main Rune and it's primarily a healing rune, however with it's Ultimate Attack Forever Sign, it'll do damage equal to leftover damage from what the spell healed. So for example, the party is dealt 1,500 damage, Forever Sign will do 500 Damage to the targeted enemy. However, if you sustain greater than 2,000 Damage and attempt to use Forever Sign, you get a funny overflow glitch where the damage should go. It'll usually look like 10,000 Damage or so was done, but it's simply a cosmetic bug, no damage is actually dealt to the enemy should this happen.

This is one of my fav games. Im wondering..is there anyway to save the heros sister? Or is her death a scripted thing? That actually made me cry the first time i played this game and always wondered if there was a way to prevent it

If you recruit all 108 Stars of Destiny before the Raid on Rockaxe, and have enough equipment on her to have her defense at 180 (I think that's the number, the main thing is don't strip off her armor, give her good stuff), and choose any selection before the Gorudo fight (When prompted say "Nanami or "!!!!!!") then you can save her. You know you did it right if Doctor Huan asks Shu to come into his room to speak privately. Good luck!
