Suikoden 2 Spoiler in regards to the best ending. Actually IIRC Nanami needs 121 defense or higher alongside all 108 stars recruited (+ having Forgiver Sign), while also responding quick within 3 seconds to any response. If done correctly, Riou will get into battle stance as well and later Huan will request Shu to come in. This signifies, that you have fullfilled all prerequisites for the best ending.
Also Leknaat appears at the final gathering mentioning all the 108 SOD have gathered and unlocks the Forgiver sign, which is a very important prerequisite for all the other factors to eventually take place.
I was one the few who bought Suikoden 2 right when it came out. I always felt like it was my personal game that no one else knew about. I'm glad everyone caught on to the best RPG of all time

Upon the release of Star Ocean II and FFVIII, I became a JRPG fan and found this unassuming looking game at the game store where I went weekly. I didn't expect much from it, but the opening intro gripped me and by the time I played through the first prologue and the theme 'Reminiscence' played, I was fully invested and have not been able to look back since.
I did not play this game around release, nor did I play it for the first time in the first decade after its release. I first played this game and finished in 2013. Mind you that is nearly 15 years past its production and we were 2 generations of gaming past its original development. That said, this game was an amazing experience, one of the only games I have ever stated when I finished it "THIS is a masterpiece". For a game that had come out so long before I first played it and was THAT good was unbelievable to me, despite being a big fan of the original Suikoden. I just can't be happier at the time I'm typing this that some of the original developers are making a new game that will be similar to this series and especially aimed at being moire like the 2nd Suikoden. Unbelievable how good this game is.
My mom went and bought us a PlayStation for Christmas and she (a non gamer at all) picked out some games for us randomly, Suikoden, Kings Field 2, Castlevania SotN, Tekken 2, and Mortal Kombat Trilogy. I fell in love with Suikoden and she did a great job all around on those choices.

Who came up with such a idea, having an army of people to control and stuff,, awful concept.. lame games.. you at least with legaia got some taste , all those others dont know what good is.. Legaia 2 - Duel Saga has the best magic casting in any rpg period. Just awesome !!
I really hope someone would continue this serie , i've been a very huge fan of its serie for decades. If i could give money to a compagny to help developp a new suikoden i'd do it without hesitation, and i wouldn't have been the only one. Not a lot of people knows about Suikoden(although thanks to youtubers like him it raises more and more , i'm so grateful), but for those who have played it , it is unforgettable. I hope those videos will get tons of views and revive this game that has been unfairly doomed. Ps: Sorry for the bad english i do my best :D

I missed several heroes in the game, my Nanami died, I played it again from the beginning to recruit everyone. I made sure I recruited everyone except the moku2, miku2,maku2, etc (at that point I was quite fed up with them). I got the best ending (with Jowy not dead either and all three of them went on adventure together)
Suikoden 2 is by far the best one since you can get to informally recruit Suikoden 1's protagonist to join your travels. The Twin Leader Attack and that Soul Eater rune of his' enhanced SFX in Suikoden 2 were a blast.
Really? Did you play all entry in the series? Did you even know there was suikoden 3? Or did you just play 2? It's not a good series if 1 game is good about the series .
@@julz19 bruh there is suikoden 1-5 and there is suikoden tactics as well as suikoden tierkris and i played them all. so shut the hell up before you comment

This was also one of the first games I remember playing with a transfer save. Seeing the hero from the first Suikoden appear in 2 was awesome. Luca Blight was a good villain you loved to hate, and the story was amazing. Definitely one of the best RPG's ever.
I remember when I bought this game brand new the year it came out. I was so intimidated by having to try and recruit all the characters. But then I just fell in love with the entire series
I'm so happy I was able to talk my mother into letting me buy this all the way back in 2000. I still have it, close to mint condition and will probably never willingly part ways with it. This game is up there with Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire and FFVII being firmly planted in my childhood. Good times with good games.
I remember guying this game for my brother when it first came out; he was the one who took a chance on the first game and got me into it. He accidentally damaged the disc; and for years we were unable to play the game past the point where you enter the Toran Republic. Fast forward to around 2009; I found the game in a used game bin at Gamestop....for 30 bucks. Bought it and now own a physical copy again which i've practically kept in a vault.
as non native english speaker, I actually learn my early english from suikoden. also curious what translation part is considered horrible(IMO this is almost always happen in JRPG that translated to english) and what did native expected. at least the text is 10x better than how my local do english (SEA) also I remember about people datamined the game, and found a code in sajah village that can turn back time, maybe to re-visit our decision / new game+ but it wasn't available in the release. which answer why some items could be get after epilogue (which is no reason to) except if they actually did this new game+ scheme
For example to name one, in the same box they call him Jowy and Joei. They have Theresa threaten Theresa with arrows. They can't spell Schtolteheim Reinbach III right (which is gone since can't spell Banner or Jowston right). They overuse ellipses. That's just two off the top pf my head.
Definitely one of my favorite games of all time. Now I'll have to replay it! On one of my subsequent playthrpughs I discovered how to pass through a wall in the north and get access to tougher battles, gaining a lot of experience. No matter how many times you play, you can still have fun and try new things.
Maybe it is not too secret, but you can get a mid-game bad ending during the events in Tinto if you keep agreeing with Nanami to run away and leave the war behind. It is pretty interesting.
The KANAKAN place is still unknown. Heard it a million times in suikoden series but still undiscovered. Still hoping for a suikoden sequel plus yuber and pesmerga's background story.
additional: storyline that includes stories of viki and jeane, han cunningham and genkaku as well as lorelai who travels to kanakan after suikoden 2 regarding the sindar ruins. hope konami will make suikoden 6.

@@ShotoMetsu86 It did but it left more questions than answers. All it did was confirm who Sasarai and Luc are, the existence of Hikusaak and what he's trying to do - if not entirely why or how - and brought in some more stuff about the Howling Voice Guild via Nash. For a story that mentions it a lot, III didn't resolve much of anything about Harmonia, although we do get one cutscene played there.
I got this game after I borrowed the first from my cousin. I got it for Christmas in the 90s. and just like that I was a fan. ff7, xenogears, and this amazing game are my all time favorites ever. and not in that order, depending on how im feeling at the time. Even with it’s bad translation this game helped teach me to read I got this game when I was 6 and I was so fascinated with it that I would ask my dad to help me read it until till I could read it all on my own
Regarding the no.3 Nanami Controversy, you actually have to recruit a certain amount of character to unlock the additional scene. Therefore, the first option and the second option will lead to a much different scene. Just FYI. It is a quite critical scene that will be explained in the proper ending later on (If you recruited 108 stars of destiny and chose to leave).
Suikoden 2 may be the no. 1 JRPG that I have ever played. I believe it to be that good. My experience with this game was unlike any other I have ever played. After the second game I had a hard time getting into the 3D Suikoden titles and still have trouble now. I actually wish they had kept releasing them in the same art style and in 2D. For anyone reading this and having never experienced Suikoden 2: You will not find another JRPG like this, play it now.

This video does a fantastic job uncovering some of the hidden gems and lesser-known facts about the game. It's a must-watch for fans and newcomers alike, offering a deeper appreciation for the intricate world and characters that make Suikoden 2 unforgettable. 🌟
It's not neccesary to choose the second option to save Nanami, I always choose the first one and she is saved (at least in the PAL game xD) The neccesary thing to do is have her with a high deffense. If you remove her accesories out, she'll die even if you pick an answer or even if you have the 108 stars. BTW, I loooove the Drama CD
I came to say this too. Her defense has to be over 120 I believe, and good armor. I always pick the first option. You’ll know if you did it right if Riou jumps, and of course Huan calls for Shu after saying he couldn’t save Nanami.
My favorite translation is at Greenhill. If you do the Matilda glitch and recruit Futch early, he's considered a kid. On one of the responses like "Gemh"
Saving Nanami is even more complexe and than what you mentionned. She actually need to wear armor and have a minimum defense rating of 121 if I remember correctly. And just to be clear, you need all 108 characters recruited since they are all available to recruit at this point. If you do, before invading Rockaxe, Riou will have it's 4th unique spell unlocked. If not, though luck, don't even search for the dialog option.
My favourite JRPG of all time. I couldn't find it at any store when it came out and it ended up being the very first thing I ever bought off the internet.

The fun fact, is that Georg is not as overpowered at all, most of the other characters can do more damage than him.
one of my favorite games, still love that if you have save of the original game, you can recruit the hero from the first game.
I've had original copies of both Suikoden 1 and 2 since I was a kid in 1999 and I'd never give them up

Damn! Thanks to this game i developed my english grammar. I remember i had to look at webster english tagalog dictionary to understand the story! Just damn!
I just graduated high school and this masterpiece came out. I went into my own world with this during college
The musical feels
One of the best OSTs ever made.
My fave is the one inside the HQ.
I'm glad everyone caught on to the best RPG of all time

maybe the only rpg i finished when i was child lol
Unbelievable how good this game is.
currently playing it now, already liberating greenhill for now 😊
SUIKODEN 1 AND 2 REMASTER COMING OUT NEXT YEAR YALL!!!!!!
Suikoden 1 & 2 are back as a remaster!
Some damn fine games there. Tekken 2 is still fantastic today, and MKT is an underrated port.
Good job to your momma!
Niiice Castlevania sotn is also another banger!! Good job Mom!
legend of legaia.
for me this is the best rpg on ps1 ever.
still waiting for it to get ported to ps4
It's on psn now
I HATE Suikoden franchise. I played Suikoden 5 (finished it) God did i hate it.. Who came up with such a idea, having an army of people to control and stuff,, awful concept..
lame games.. you at least with legaia got some taste , all those others dont know what good is.. Legaia 2 - Duel Saga has the best magic casting in any rpg period. (i mean maya's movements and stuff she says by each spell when casting them) You feel like you really casting magic there, they should bring that 1 out new, remade some things, but keep the spell casting style from her.
A spiritual successor of Suikoden named Eiyuden Chronicle has been announced. It's being developed by Suikoden veterans and the kickstarter is live and mighty successful: www.kickstarter.com/projects/rabbitandbearstudios/eiyuden-chronicle-hundred-heroes/description
This whole series is the Grandmaster of all RPG for me
Really? Did you play all entry in the series? Did you even know there was suikoden 3?
Or did you just play 2? It's not a good series if 1 game is good about the series

Agreed.

A good condition copy is worth like 250 bucks!
@@hadoo1973 I found my original copy floating in a puddle in the cellar at home years ago... yeah.
This channel is underrated
as non native english speaker, I actually learn my early english from suikoden. also curious what translation part is considered horrible(IMO this is almost always happen in JRPG that translated to english) and what did native expected. at least the text is 10x better than how my local do english (SEA)
also I remember about people datamined the game, and found a code in sajah village that can turn back time, maybe to re-visit our decision / new game+ but it wasn't available in the release. which answer why some items could be get after epilogue (which is no reason to) except if they actually did this new game+ scheme
I always do this trick 😂
It was hilarious the first time I discovered it
I doubt it'll be in the remake since they patched it out of the PSP port.
What we need suikoden 6 with good story and good music 8bit or remake 1-2

It's almost 2020 and I still got that jolt of happy feeling when I saw people named their character in MMORPG/Mobile games Luca Blight/Nanami/Jowy. Feels like we're connected somehow

Theres so many untold stories in the whole suiko series. Pesmerga, the other true runes, hikusaak, sindar. I wish they would continue the game
harmonia too
Maritime Spirit didn’t Suikoden III contain a bit of backstory on Harmonia? I remember the Harmonia being involved more in the 3rd one.
I had all of my original copies and my original playstation, plus suikogaiden 1 and 2 which I had to order a special gameshark-like device to hook into my original psx to even be able to play Japanese games, and I couldn't understand Japanese, but it was suikogaiden so I played them anyway, with barely a very rough internet guide to do so. it broke my heart 2 years ago when all of these were stolen from me...by someone who had no fucking idea a...what those games meant to me personally, and b....how rare and expensive they are to obtain now. they probably took it to a 2nd hand store and got chump change for all of them, plus bof3, valkyrie profile, grandia 1 and 2, vandal Hearts 1 and 2, parasite eve 1 and 2, wild arms 1-5, lunar sss box set and lunar2, many ps2 titles and my system, sega Genesis and all my games.....so much anger to this person...I carried all of these around like good old and best friends for years.. still im glad I was 15 or so years old in the late 90s and got to experience the golden age. ♥
Damn dude... That really sucks. I would've cried
You also have to wear Armour.

Suikoden 2 is a timeless classic that showcases the power of storytelling and gameplay on the PS1. It's a must-watch for fans and newcomers alike, offering a deeper appreciation for the intricate world and characters that make Suikoden 2 unforgettable. 🌟
It's so sad that the soundtracks in suikoden II aren't commonly known, even though all are beautiful and great to listen
I remember playing this and StarOcean 2 so much as a kid!

Of course there are them few times when a word can throw you so much you have to completely read the sentence several times over trying to understand what it’s mean to mean.
