WHY THE FK WOULD ANYONE BUY A VEHICLE FOR THAT PRICE !!! MUST BE A THIEF (DOCTOR or LAWYER), BUSINESS OWNERE (TAX WRITE-OFF)
I work at a Honda dealership, and I've got one thing to say: stay away from 1.5 turbos. Head Gaskets are blowing at as little miles as 60k
My dad had a 1.5 accord. Oil delution and heads went. Cvt locked up at 79k while he was sending it into a corner and causing it to understeer and crash
@@andrewgregory151what year? I have a 2024 Honda CRV which I love but was worried about the 1.5 when I bought it. I couldn’t find a car that I liked more and it was a decent price in comparison to other cars so I went with it. I have the 200,000 km warranty

My 2005 MDX has 365K miles on it and still runs great.
Whoa! Just got a '06 MDX and drives fine, but few months after i bought it CEL came on and got PO300-306 misfire code on all cylinders. Did this ever happen to u? Having trouble diagnosing exact problem. Getting valve clearance and valve cover job with new pcv tomorrow

Probably too late now but I’d start by checking the ignition coils. Pull one at a time to see if the idle changes. Lots of videos to help you out
That Acura looks like a really nice car. It's one of the nicest modern cars I've seen for a while. You've convinced me to test drive one, Scotty.
And this morning I had a bowl of cereal before I went to work. What do you say? It means nothing? Oh sorry, I was just doing the same as the comments.
Its badass i drove the rdx definitely worth a buy expensive insurance tho
@@RandomVids519Are you considering buying?
@@ThomasKing19933 i was yes but car was in an accident so i walked i was very impressed with a 2020 model extremely nice suv
Acura finally got with the program and is bringing a touchscreen for the ‘25.
I own a 2014 MDX with 217000 miles and love it. Runs great.
I believe you, I own a 2012 and the only thing I’ve done to it was the timing belt just for precaution
Not a MDX, but I have a 2013 TL with 205,000 miles. Two timing belts (and other maintenance items) are the only things it's ever needed. It seems Acura made really good vehicles in the early 2010's. I've come across a lot of Acura owners in the comments of various videos who claim to have a high mileage Acura from this era that still runs great and has been relatively trouble free.
At the moment 😢😊😊😊
I bet it isn't turbo charged like this one. Also for this one, good luck with that air suspension. Going to have to be replaced within 100k miles and Toyota has never been any better. Trash. Just put struts on SUVs and stop putting air ride on them. It never lasts and costs twice as much to fix.
Bought a 2004 MDX but regard trading it in for a X5 in 2013, biggest mistake of my life for owning car. 9 years of owning the MDX, only thing I ever change was oil and new set of tires. Run so smooth and so reliable. Had it the European car, just bought myself a new 2025 Honda Pilot and loving it. Same engine and transmission as the MDX but use regular gas.
The Type S is a twin turbo 3.0. That's why this one was so expensive. The standard MDX uses a natural 3.5 V6.
Thank you I was wondering how they did that. I only get 302 hp out of my 3.5 L direct injected Mercedes. 352 hp would be about right for a twin turbo
Single turbo actually.
Single turbo
Dual-scroll single turbo. Or what BMW calls a Twin Power Turbo.
Yeaaa it's twin scroll single turbo and it's not naturally aspirated either. There's the V4 2.0L or the V6 3.0L... both have turbos
I love my 2019 RDX 2.0 turbo 27k miles . It's only been in the shop for oil changes, and it still feels like new.
I currently own a 2017 MDX fully loaded . It has 155K. Miles. Run like new.
Translation: I still owe 30k on it
Because you have the tried and true 3.5l V6 instead of turbo charged crap.

Just beautiful ACURA.
I love the newer MDXs. I bought a used 2005 in 2015. It had 115k and I paid $10k cash. It was a great car but because of its size (was super tall and felt like it leaned when I drove) I didn't drive it as much as I had initially planned. After 2 years and 8k mi, I sold it to my dad and grabbed a 2013 Accord. Dad still has it and at 205k mi it's still going strong, and for pushing 20 it still looks great. I am hoping to grab a newer used model. The newer ones aren't as monstrous as the older ones and I feel I would use it more if it's not so intimidating to drive.
Beautiful! I love my 23' RDX! Non of that compliance garbage!
What compliance? It has an auto start/stop...at least in Canada it does.
@@bogeybichon7000 . True. Its minor stuff. I turn mine off the moment I start the car. The main thing is that I have a traditional transmission, a big enough engine to handle the turbo, and none of that EV crap. Only down side is the low mpg but I don't drive much so its a fair trade off.
I’ve owned a 23’ RDX (fully loaded) for about a year …. LOVE IT. Just wish I could permanently keep the start/stop off though.
Is there a certain year model you recommend for anyone looking to purchase used?
I do believe the 3.5 is one of the best V6 Honda produces/produced! J series in general.
My problem is there transmissions
@@dejondaone6967 Absolutely! I purchased one and within 1 month needed to rebuild. So many individuals say automatics are horrendous. But when the 04-06 TL was brand new (even with automatic,) had to be insanely fine.

I love my 2016 shawd TLX with the advanced package. Currently have a 150000

In obedient Canada, in this case in Ontario, the police recommended that car owners keep their keys right outside the front door so that the car would be easier to steal and the police would not have to have problems with either the owners or thieves 🙈
I live in Toronto. Car theft and car jackings are becoming more of a problem nowadays. They have wireless disabling devices. But what exactly does this comment mean ? What are you trying to say ?
@@andrebello4191the Toronto Police recommended to keep your car keys by the front door so car thieves don't cause excessive damage or harm to a household when trying to steal our car keys.
I haven’t had a car payment in 15 years. I expect my 2005 Toyota Matrix and 2008 Honda Element combined have at least another 300K miles left in them. Low maintenance! I can’t fathom buying a car for $40K, much less $75K! For that, I’d rather build an addition on my house.
😂
Good for you, CAROL.
The only problem is the MDX is made in the US in the same factory where they make the Cadillacs which are assembled by the UAW(No thank you).
The other problem is Honda still uses timing belts which need require replacement every 80K miles and it is expensive and often the current generation of dealer “mechanics” don’t do the job properly and don’t replace all the parts and bolts at least here in Riverside, California.
Just traded in my 22’ rdx for a Lexus gx 550. My RDX with 20k miles died on me twice. After 10k worth of warranty work done to it, I no longer felt it was reliable enough for me.
Honda isn’t the same anymore.
How do you like the GX? I bought my wife an RDX a few years ago and still a lot left to be desired. No big problems as of yet at 65k miles but the build quality just isnt there
I got a new mini 2 door hard top as a loaner while my car gets fixed. I asked if it had a cvt. The dealer said "no we dont use those any more" even mini is wise to how crappy cvts are. Now the auto has issues if i put it in green mode. Even though the car has 2300 miles on it. In green mode there is a shudder if im stopped on a hill. If i try to drive slow through a parking lot it drives real jerky. Kind of like a kid learning to drive stick. Its like the car does not know how to use a clutch. But put it in sport none of those issues and the car drives at about 800 more rpm when in sport. In green mode if im doing 15mph that car is under 1000rpm. Thats just too low. That trans will not last if the owner only drives in green. Even going up hills the car is about 1200 rpm at 45mph in green and 2000rpm in sport. Sport just operates car more normally.
I've been driving various Honda V6 engines since 05 . ( Pilot/Odyssey ) . Never had a T Belt or engine issue . My oldest 16 Pilot has 193K on it .
Did you ever change T belt on them ?
I'm not a thief either, but when I used to repo cars, I'd get passed those in a snap, either by picking or breaking.
The machine is called flipper zero. And ive saved a ton car rentals since purchasing one.
Bought a 2021 MDX with 35000 miles on it for about 35K from Acura dealership. Certified used by Acura. Has warranty and bought additional warranty - we keep our vehicles for the long run. Love it! My other vehicle is a 2004 Lexus LS430 with less than 35K miles on it - love that vehicle, too.
Insider tip.. change your fluids at 50% of suggested life and keep up with the 100k mile timing belt / water pump / idler changes. Doing so... we have 600k mile plus experiences.
Shalom
Do they use the same engine and transmission in the new 2024 Honda Pilot?
Nope... the pilot is nowhere close to being on this level.
Hey Scotty can you give your expert opinion of Toyotas iforce max engine thats going into the new 4runners & Land Cruiser, I'm looking to purchase one soon but I'm not certain about these engines.
Scotty. 😝 great vid!
I agree with Honda on the decision to stick with timing belts in the American market especially, where people just don't do maintenance. The main things that fail on most engines are: Timing components, cooling systems (especially the water pump) and tensioners/pulleys. Forcing this into the maintenance schedule makes these cars a lot more reliable. Take BMWs for instance, if they had timing belts then BMW -ricers- customers would be forced to replace all of these, which are the most common failure points on drivetrains anyway. But then you'd have reliable BMWs, and that would be ridiculous.
This is besides other advantages, including not having to worry about guide lubrication and wear, chain stretching, excessive chain noise and so on. Honda V6s are extremely smooth and refined for this exact reason.
Timing chains are superior in every way. They last the life of the engine(200k+ miles with proper oil changes) unless there is a defect in the components. Most people are not going to change that timing belt when it's supposed to be, because it costs hundreds to replace if you don't do it yourself. I avoid any car that has a timing belt.
Would the original comment elaborate more on the BMW comment? Thx
@@mrdave777 OK, in the case of most BMWs, the drivetrains are actually pretty solid. But Brad thinks his "ultimate driving machine" needs no maintenance, and BMW is happy to support his delusions, with absolutely ludicrous extended service intervals (18000 mi oil changes wtf). Typical failure points on most BMWs include the cooling system, lubrication gaskets and seals. My E60 545i for example, is famous for valve stem seals failing, along with other gaskets, not to mention thermostat and water pump. But it uses a timing chain, so no one bothers to fix these before they blow up. Maintain it like a toyota, and sure it'll be more expensive to maintain, but it'll last a heck of a long time, more than most people keep their cars. Also, avoid, avoid avoid Turbo BMWs that are not inline 6 engines, and even then do your research. The current crop of B58 engines seem to be rock solid, for instance.
@@SnipesXxX Read my comment more carefully. I never said timing chains aren't superior, but belts are cheap and easy to replace, and are a lot quieter and smoother. Most importantly, when you replace the belt, it makes it very easy to do all associated failure points on an engine except maybe valve adjustments (in the case of Honda engines). Not to mention, people have a belief that chains are lifetime. Yes, but the plastic guides are absolutely not. Usually they don't fail outright, but you will notice worse fuel economy due to loosening timing over the life of the vehicle.
@@summushieremiasclarkson4700 Thank you so much! I’ve never owned a BMW, only Japanese and I’m getting older. However, one of my favorite cars is the E36 M3. I just traded my 2022 MDX TYPE S four the 2024 integra TYPE S and it's a manual 6 speed so hopefully nit easy 2 steal.
I have a 2020 MDX. 45k miles so far. My only problem is Apple Car Play acts up from time to time. Infotainment is slow to react. No other problems. It was suppose to be a least and return, but the maintenance on it is so cheap; I decided to keep it. Well at least compared to my MBZ is cheap. It also should last to at least 200k miles.
Hey!!!! Scottie , MDX 14-15, or pilot 2016 or explorer 2018?????
16 Pilot was a new platform, I’d stay away and get 19 and up. Here’s what I observed: no apple car play (if you’re into that) fuel injector recalls, fuel gauge malfunctions, jerky 6 - speed transmission, bad windshield seal.
I think Ill go with the Mazda CX70. its 25K less expensive, and the interior is just as nice. the engine is also under rated, that inline 6 is freaking smooth.

Also warning with Honda/Acura transmissions!! They do require fluid changes to prevent them from failing due to them not being the most reliable (at least how it used to be they may have changed the way they make them)
