Would love to see a demo of you derma rolling the neck and décolleté. I think that would be highly beneficial to us all. Thank you for another informative video 💗
I love this channel. She's so informative and you know you can trust her because her skin looks amazing. There's a lot of channels giving information but when they have bad skin and health it's hard to want to follow what they say lol.
Thx so much for all the science & explanation of why we derma roll, how it helps plus the do's & dont's. I've done it about 4-5 times over a couple months then tried the derma pen once a few weeks ago. Looking forward to doing it again with this new info you shared. Thx, Penn... you are beautiful, well educated & great at teaching what you know! 😉👍💖
I am a little confused by conflicting information on youtube. Some favor 192 titanium needles over the 540 stainless steel ones. Any thoughts? Also how many uses do you usually get before you replace a dermaroller? I would think that like a razor, we should replace it BEFORE it gets dull.
Yes love these videos can you recommend a good dermal pen not looking for a huge kit just the actual pen 0.25 and 0.5 uses only and you were so right about only using 0.5 once every 4 to 6 weeks I actually asked my dermatologist and he said the exact same thing that you have to give the collagen time and if you do it too soon it is not good he also mentioned getting Edema as well if a medical professional says not to do it why people don’t follow that instruction is beyond me we are talking about the face that is not something I’m willing to take a risk on!!
Another great informative video! Bought a Dr.Pen a few months back and was a little confused on which setting to use and when. Now I understand. Thank you ! I do have a question for you. Which do you prefer the pen or a roller?
So crazy! I'm going back through some of your old videos and found this one. I used use a dermaroller, but stopped because a doctor who does injections and facials and all things nonsurgical for the face and body, told me the needles of these were tearing my skin. I tossed it immediately. That was probably 4-5 years ago now. That ticks me off, because I really liked it!
@@mkb5984 not sure why you have doctor in quotes. 😊 She's an MD, on staff at the local hospital. Decided to switch gears though, and open a med-spa. Hi Penny, I have learned so much watching your videos. I have a question.... I know in your other micro needling video you used a .5 needle in the pen and said no vitamin C afterwards for at least a few days. If you are using the .25 derm roller can you then use a serum with vitamin C in it or should you still avoid it. Thanks!
Thank you Penny, I have a..5 but I nave not felt very comfortable doing it. Now after watching this video, I'm going to get some efferdent and start rolling . xoxo
Good for you! Start slow and easy! When you use .5 you might want to get some 5% lidocaine to numb first (and thoroughly clean it off your face). It will make the whole thing more tolerable :-)
Awesome tips. Question of my face in heavly pitted from scars (I'm a male) and entry pore holes is the .25mm the correct depth to use. When I use the tool I feel the tickling on the forehead and chin and nose, but less feeling in the Cheek area where the scars and putting is plenty, please advise Thanks for yournhelp
So informative! Please do a video on microneedling the neck and decollage.......would love to know how to do it so I can complete my routine. Thank you!
🥰 Omg! Penny this was so great! Your skin is so pretty. I have been turned off to the idea of poking needles into my skin. It seemed counterintuitive to hurt what I am trying to heal. I like thinking about the creation of micro-channels to get the serums deeper into my skin. I am going to take the plunge. Please post a neck and décolletage video. I’d also love to hear a whole bunch about growth factors. Hearing a “best of serums” would be great, too. You are such a wonderful teacher. I appreciate all you do. GENIUS way to clean the roller! 😍🥰😘
Michelle Burnstein hello my friend! I will definitely do a best of serums, that’s a great idea! So many on the market....and there are a few expensive ones that I think people should avoid....might have to make that list too 😝 I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! 💜
Lol, when I saw the denture cleaning tablets listed in the description, I started looking closely at your teeth, not realizing the tablets are to disinfect the roller! I was thinking "wow, those dentures look great!" Lol! Is the roller better than a pen? should I use both? Maybe the one is better because there is no "downtime"? Thanks for the great instruction!
Thank you sooo much!!! New sub here. 🙋🏻♀️ You’re not only knowledgeable but the way you explain is so clear & easy to understand! Can’t wait to watch more of your vids! 👍🏽😎
Yes please, more videos like this. I bought a .25 Dermaroller but have not had the guts to use it. I bought it cause utubers were raving how it made their lips fuller and helped with the wrinkles around their lips. Your saying not to do the lips, correct? Oh my goodness that growth factor is expensive. Your skin is gorgeous. I thought you were only suppose to microneedle once a week, it’s confusing from what I’ve been watching.😘
Hi there:) I’m definitely on the hunt for less expensive options, I promise! If you are rolling with a .2 or .3 you can roll often. If you roll with anything deeper (longer) you need to wait 4 weeks between rolling with that size. You can roll often with the shorter needles and then once a month do the .5 needle for collagen. It is confusing, I know. And you can do around your lips, I just don’t do my actual lips. Hope that makes sense 💜
Great video! I love your instruction on how to roll. I will now sanitize my roller with Efferdent tablets. Great tip! Appreciate your knowledge. Thank you!
Thank you for showing us. I use the .25 to .5. But do it once a month lol. If I remember lol. And i didn’t know we can do our neck. That scares me lol. And using efferdent? Genius. Thank you Penn ❤️❤️❤️.
Hey Penny! Thank you for this video! Super informative! I haven’t tried cosmetic needling or Microneedling yet, but I plan on it while watching your videos! Would love it if you can do a video of cosmetic needling once a week for the newbies? That would be wonderful!!
Efferdent is not available on amazon in the country I live. Would any other denture cleaner be okay too? I would be able to get corega tabs or Kukident for example. Thank you. :)
Thank you so much! I finally microneedled my face with my pen. I have used the roller but got tired of the pain so was paying for skinpen. There is a numbing cream that doesnt numb me so I know that skinpen can be worse. I did .25 for my first time and it wssnt bad at all. Will do .5 next time.
Because she’s nanorolling .25 .3 roller so you can use any type of product and apparently she wants her growth factor to absorb in her skin. It seems like with when she does medical rolling she only uses HA and let’s her skin rest
How often should the derma roller be replaced? Weekly? I know that after a few uses, the needles will likely get a little dull. Thank you, Penny! Love your channel :)
Hi Penny. I watched this video yesterday, and ordered this roller from your link. It arrived today, but I decided to watch some more videos before I actually used it. I came across a video by Gin Amber, where she is saying that all 540 needle rollers are fake, and that all rollers from amazon are fake. She breaks open the rollers, and they aren't actually needles, but metal wheels. In another video, she went as far as rolling one of the fake rollers and an authentic roller with real needles, across pieces of paper, then put the papers under a microscope to compare shapes. The metal wheel roller was not circular at all, while the authentic roller, which is her own brand that she sells (I feel that's important to note) was very circular. I will link the videos here, and I really hope you check them out, as you have linked this 540 roller from amazon in your description box, for 1000's of women to purchase. I would love to know your thoughts on this, and see if you still recommend this roller, and would keep using it yourself. After watching the videos, I would love to know if you think this roller is safe and non damaging to the skin. This comment is sent with respect and to spread awareness. I truly trust your opinion, and would love to know your thoughts. Here are the videos: 540 vs 192 needle DERMAROLLER (the difference is crazy) ua-cam.com/video/MN7uM8Kwjz0/v-deo.html Shocking truth about DERMAROLLERS, under the microscope ua-cam.com/video/nrayM91bBz0/v-deo.html
Love your video. I do have a couple questions. After rolling, was that a serum you put on your face? Can I use The Ordinary, hyaluronic acid 2% + B5? I have seen videos where woman are putting Vitamin C on and I’ve heard that’s not good after derma rolling and can harden under the skin. Thoughts?
Hi Penny, just found you!!! I am from Brazil and I got Gin's dermarroler 0.25 and 0.5. You explain it so well!!! I am using aloe vera plant from my back yard right after and after it gets dry I am using a organic Marula oil, is that ok? I use a 0.5 yesterday and in. very very gentle way. Is that ok to put sunscreen the other day and makeup? I will follow your advise and on wait 4 week to do .5! Thank tou so so much! kisses from Brazil
Hi Penny. I've gone back to several videos to make sure these questions had not been previously answered. You have an amazing following, there were so many comments and questions. It must make you feel good to know you have a huge fan base that trust your incredible skin science knowledge Thanks to you I am now nano needling and cosmetic needling with Anteage. My two questions: 1. Is it also recommended to wait 2 weeks after Botox for nano or cosmetic needling like it is CIT? 2. I've had one professional CIT however, I feel I'm ready to needle at home for CIT. Should I stick with the HMW HA or follow up CIT needling with the Anteage. I purchased the Anteage serum, accelerator and cleanser from a licensed esthetician.
Hi Beverly ❤️ I personally still wait at least a week to cosmetically needle after Botox. I don’t want my circulation pushing that toxin around anywhere I don’t want it:)) I am so glad you started AnteAge!! Good for you!! Ok, with CIT I would still use HMW HA, either AnteAge (they make one also) or your brand of choice. The next morning after CIT resume your AnteAge system (sometimes though it can sensitize the skin so the next day you have to just figure out how your skin reacts- if you need to wait a full 24 hours before using the system that’s ok too 😊
Just discovered your channel thanks to MaryEllen. I did microneedling for the first time today, following your instructions. I would be very interested in any suggestions for follow up creams etc. One question I have, when should you resume use of tretinion? I am 68 years old and use Curology. Thank you for all your very informative videos !
Thanks for all your amazing information!! My questions is can Le Mieux be used instead of other growth factors such as the one you mentioned in this video?
Hi Penny, not sure if you'll see this but I'm terrified. I just recently started using Vit C & E on my skin in the a.m. and a very mild Retinol and Hyaluronic Acid on my skin p.m. It was going very well. My skin was glowing. But I have a .15 Environ dermaroller here at home. I've had it for years. Not sure what possessed me - I was looking at my wrinkles and thought more was better, so I disinfected my roller - in a bottle of mainly tea tree antiseptic that was supplied with the roller years ago. I then rinsed the roller under the tap and began using it on my face on top of the retinol and hyaluronic acid. Not long after I felt this burning sensation under my eyes (I only rolled there very gently in one direction 10x each side) so I washed my face and applied, also an old tube, of RoC Post Peeling moisturiser on my face, thinking this would calm everything down, but it burnt even WORSE! Terrifying. So I washed it off and last night I slept with a thick layer of Nivea creme on my face. Woke up and my under eyes are very inflamed and very red. I then went and bought Cetaphil moisturising cream today (sadly we don't have CeraVe in Africa, or most of the creams you mention). I'm just so worried about the very red inflammation under my eyes. My skin is strong. Usually it can handle Anything! I'm just not sure of what to do at this point. Is Cetaphil the right thing to put on there or should I rather put on antibiotic cream? The redness is severe - looks like I burnt my skin. Any suggestions please? I would so appreciate a reply. I'm so worried! Will my under eyes be like this forever?? As I write this my skin is very red under my eyes and still burning😳eek. Cheers - from another Penny!
Thanks, Penny, for this excellent video! I didn't think about Efferdent, that's a great idea! I feel better about using that than spraying with alcohol. Of course, I still haven't had the guts to try to this. I want to come see you and let you do it! 😍 One day I will get there! You are so one of my favorite UA-camrs, love you! ❤️
Just curious why not alcohol intake all the bacteria off the dermal roller and the effordent cost a lot more than a bottle of alcohol? . I appreciate you getting back with me. I'm a new subscriber.
Great tutorial Penny, I was told to let my derma roller dry before putting the cover on. Is that not necessary? Also, how often should I change rollers if I'm using it weekly? xoxo Cindi
Actually I usually do let it dry first you are right:-) My case isn’t air tight though so it would be ok. It’s more about not allowing moist warm air to collect in there and harbor bacteria. Good point for sure!! 💜
And if you are using weekly your roller should last you several months, I would say probably 6 months at least. They aren’t crazy expensive so I’d err on the early side though 💜😁
Yes you can definitely use LED immediately post rolling/needling but if it actually touches your skin you have to be EXTRA careful that the mask is sanitized. LED is amazing right after needling but only if you protect yourself from cross contamination 😊
Penn you are so informative! I truly appreciate all your time and effort! I have been rolling for years and it has helped me to avoid Botox so far! Should I invest in the derma pen or stick with rolling? I like saving time and money! But ONLY want what will give me the results! Idk?
angiewalton1 I like rolling when it’s the short needles. I have a pen (actually a few lol) and I’d have to change cartridges and that would be more expensive. But with the .5mm or deeper I like a pen. I think it’s better. I only use that once a month or so (sometimes it’s 6 weeks for me) so a new cartridge every 4-6 weeks is no biggie. So roller for cosmetic, pen for collagen. But that’s just me. The roller at .5 (which I do also have) works too. :) Hope that helped and wasn’t more confusing lol 😝
Is it possible to derma roll problem body areas - say saddle bags , rear and tummy for sagging and cellulite and finish those areas with Red light therapy. If so would love to hear your feed back , results and or recommendations. Thank you so much I recommend your channel to all of my friends - I am 56 and contribute my youthful glow to you my friend!
Hi Penny, I notice that you don’t clean with alcohol prior to cosmetic needling. Is that right? AND, can I workout the day after Microneedling and Cosmetic needling with a Dr Pen? Thank you for your valuable channel!
Penny are you still using Obagi clear for your hyperpigmentation? Do you take a break and if so, what are you using in the interim?? Your skin is looking really good! xoxoxo
I do, and yes I’ve been on a break...I literally put obagi on 3 days ago for the first time in months (the hydroquinone). I actually have some pigment that has returned from when I last used obagi. It’s a constant battle 😐 Thank you for your kindness 💜
I have an unopened derma roller in my drawer waiting for your video on growth factors, hopefully more affordable alternative without giving up benefits. Also, I could have sworn I seen something in one of your videos that you are stopping retin and switching to cacay? was that you and if so info please, im thinking of doing the same thing.
I did stop retin-a for quite a while now. But.....I’m about to start again. I feel like I’m missing out on the major anti-aging benefits. That said, I feel like the break was nice for my skin! I’ll be doing that growth factor video very soon!
Penny, I am interested most of all about starting to dermaroll to help reduce under eye bags. I will probably only be able to do this once a week. Do you have any suggestions? Rhonda Thanks so much for your videos.
Love your videos! For the cosmetic needling do you first wipe your face with alcohol similar to what you do for medical needling? Or, is it okay to just wash your face here? Thank you!
Hi! I'm about to use my new dermaroller but I was trying to look for serums until i discovered Cos De Baha and watcged your videos about it. 😊 Do you recommend I use cos de baha retinol 2.5, niacinamide 10% zinc 1% and aha bha toner after I dermaroll or would i use some of those 3 only? Looking forward for your answer! 💕
So I just learnt from your microneedling video not to use vitamin c after 0.5mm or more.. Would you say its OK after cosmetic needling to use vitamin c or should I stick to nanoneedling only. Thank you for the very informative videos!! Xx
Penny, If you have rosaeca can you do at home micro needling? If you have those small broken blood vessels will it make them worse? And I was once told that thickening your skin will cause it to look worse when you get older (much older). Is it that thickening the skin will produce collagen? or just actually creates scar tissue, thickening the skin? Thanks in advance for answering my questions! I'm late to the game in the anti aging department!
This was excellent and SO helpful. I’ve had a dermaroller for awhile but have been intimidated to use it. The more you can share the better- thank you so much🥰 Would love to know more about growth factors as well:) Have a beautiful day💕 Tammy Roy 🇨🇦

Hi there:)
I’m definitely on the hunt for less expensive options, I promise!
If you are rolling with a .2 or .3 you can roll often. If you roll with anything deeper (longer) you need to wait 4 weeks between rolling with that size. You can roll often with the shorter needles and then once a month do the
.5 needle for collagen. It is confusing, I know.
And you can do around your lips, I just don’t do my actual lips.
Hope that makes sense 💜
Efferdent! Great idea! And yes! Do a growth serum video! Love you girl!!!😘😘😘
KathysBeautyCareChats love you my muffin!!! 💜
Would like for you to do a video on growth factors and enlighten us what they do for our skin!!
Thank you for this great information! I would love to learn about dermarolling the neck. Mine needs some significant help!
That video is in the works 😁😁
Thank you for being here 💜
Great video! I love your instruction on how to roll. I will now sanitize my roller with Efferdent tablets. Great tip! Appreciate your knowledge. Thank you!
Thank you so much! 💜
Thank you for showing us. I use the .25 to .5. But do it once a month lol. If I remember lol. And i didn’t know we can do our neck. That scares me lol. And using efferdent? Genius. Thank you Penn ❤️❤️❤️.
Heba S the neck *should* scare you lol. It’s sensitive skin and we should be nice to it 😁
You’re one of the smart ones 😂
Happy Wednesday my friend! 💜
Hey Penny! Thank you for this video! Super informative! I haven’t tried cosmetic needling or Microneedling yet, but I plan on it while watching your videos! Would love it if you can do a video of cosmetic needling once a week for the newbies? That would be wonderful!!
Why do you use the dental tablet to sanitize instead of alcohol? Thanks so much for all your videos
Thank you for the demo! It's good to know how to properly sanitize my roller, I was using alcohol to sanitize before & after rolling.
Alcohol works, just not as well :)
But it does work 💜
Thank you for watching:)!
9:25 true that I keep hearing growth factor and actually now just understand their purpose in your vlog 👍
isn't tap water just ladened with bacteria? I wonder if thats not a good idea to clean with it? I love this channel btw. So thorough
Efferdent is not available on amazon in the country I live. Would any other denture cleaner be okay too? I would be able to get corega tabs or Kukident for example.
Thank you. :)
Great video. Currently using 0.05 dermaroller & want to increase size.
Are you rolling for collagen? Because a .5mm is perfect! Be careful going to deep:)
Thank you for watching! 💜
PENN.SMITH.SKINCARE thank you. Yes rolling for collagen & wrinkles. Age 66.
I am so enjoying learning from you!
Very helpful! Can’t wait to see the video of neck and chest rolling!💕
Hi Penny, I saw that when using Microneedling Pen you apply HA → needling. Why do we needle first then apply products after with dermaroller? Thanks
Here are the videos:

I will check this! Until then I’ll remove the link! I’m not opening up rollers etc but I do trust Gin’s opinion very much.
Thanks for the info!!
I’m also going to recommend people look to Gin Amber to buy rollers.
I’ve used mine for quite a while with no issue but appreciate this info so much!
PENN.SMITH.SKINCARE LLC Thank you so much for the response Penny. I actually feel better just knowing that you will look into this
Tara Fazio 🥰🥰🥰
Love your video. I do have a couple questions. After rolling, was that a serum you put on your face? Can I use The Ordinary, hyaluronic acid 2% + B5? I have seen videos where woman are putting Vitamin C on and I’ve heard that’s not good after derma rolling and can harden under the skin. Thoughts?
Where can I find the product you put on after ? And name ? Thankyou for sharing all your videos, love learning skin care !
Very interesting. Thanks so much for the good information. Learned so much.
Ruthann P I’m so glad! Thank you for being here! 💜
Most physicians recommend disposable rollers. Dr Lin dermatologist has a great video on derma rolling.
This is a technic that I've tried but can't get into the habit I don't enjoy it 😁great demo Penny xoxo
Edna Flynn totally get it! It’s not really a lot of fun lol
Thank you for being here 😁💜
Hi Penny. Thank so much for this instructive and educational video. Question; do you ever apply H.A. to your face as you derma-roll? Thx much! ann
Penn, can you please advise on which products / ingredients should or should not be used after derma rolling? Thanks! 😊
I geek out every time my girl uploads !!! Thank u
EXCELLENT VIDEO Ms. Lovely. Thank you so much!
Thank you! I feel much more confident about rolling! Great video!
My two questions:
Hi Beverly ❤️
I personally still wait at least a week to cosmetically needle after Botox. I don’t want my circulation pushing that toxin around anywhere I don’t want it:))
I am so glad you started AnteAge!! Good for you!! Ok, with CIT I would still use HMW HA, either AnteAge (they make one also) or your brand of choice. The next morning after CIT resume your AnteAge system (sometimes though it can sensitize the skin so the next day you have to just figure out how your skin reacts- if you need to wait a full 24 hours before using the system that’s ok too 😊
PENN.SMITH.SKINCARE LLC Thanks Penny!!!
I Love all your informational Videos!! Thank You❤️❤️
Just discovered your channel thanks to MaryEllen.
I love watching you Penny!! You teach me so much. I have a glow pro roller and I adore it!😀
Thank you!
Yes that’s a great roller!! 😁
You're face looks amazing so it's obviously working for you.
Connie....that makes my day!! What a kind thing to say!
💜
Hi Penny, which one do you prefer? Microneedling or dermaroller? Which one is better? Thanks!
Also, how often should I change rollers if I'm using it weekly? xoxo Cindi
Actually I usually do let it dry first you are right:-)
My case isn’t air tight though so it would be ok. It’s more about not allowing moist warm air to collect in there and harbor bacteria.
Good point for sure!! 💜
And if you are using weekly your roller should last you several months, I would say probably 6 months at least. They aren’t crazy expensive so I’d err on the early side though 💜😁
PENN.SMITH.SKINCARE Thanks so much Penny. You are my go to professional 💗🥰😊💕
Can I use red/blue light therapy after rolling?
Great question. I did my first microneesling sesh tonight
I did my first one today. I was wondering the same question. Can I use the LED face mask after using the derma roller?
Yes you can definitely use LED immediately post rolling/needling but if it actually touches your skin you have to be EXTRA careful that the mask is sanitized.
LED is amazing right after needling but only if you protect yourself from cross contamination 😊
Hi Penny, thank you so much for all this information. Can we use cooper peptides when doing cosmetic microneedling?
Is it advisable to use Retin A after nano or regular micro needling? Thank you so much. A great video.
I have a roller 1,00. And i get great results.
Can u do a protocol for a esthetician treatment room!🙏🏽🙏🏽
Great video !!!! Also starting a dermarolling series!
Amazing video. Thank you so much for this well informative video.
Thank you for watching 💜
Penn you are so informative! I truly appreciate all your time and effort! I have been rolling for years and it has helped me to avoid Botox so far! Should I invest in the derma pen or stick with rolling? I like saving time and money! But ONLY want what will give me the results! Idk?
angiewalton1 I like rolling when it’s the short needles. I have a pen (actually a few lol) and I’d have to change cartridges and that would be more expensive. But with the
.5mm or deeper I like a pen. I think it’s better. I only use that once a month or so (sometimes it’s 6 weeks for me) so a new cartridge every 4-6 weeks is no biggie.
So roller for cosmetic, pen for collagen. But that’s just me. The roller at .5 (which I do also have) works too. :)
Hope that helped and wasn’t more confusing lol 😝
Is it possible to derma roll problem body areas - say saddle bags , rear and tummy for sagging and cellulite and finish those areas with Red light therapy. If so would love to hear your feed back , results and or recommendations. Thank you so much I recommend your channel to all of my friends - I am 56 and contribute my youthful glow to you my friend!
Hi Penny, I notice that you don’t clean with alcohol prior to cosmetic needling. Is that right? AND, can I workout the day after Microneedling and Cosmetic needling with a Dr Pen? Thank you for your valuable channel!
Is it best to start with the roller before advancing to an automated Dr. Pen? Thank you.
It’s a constant battle 😐
Thank you for your kindness 💜
You mentioned Anteage as a product to use, what else do you recommend?
Thank you so much, for this🖒🖒what's your thoughts on mature combination skin, trying this?
Penn, if you are dermarolling with a 0.25-0.3 2x a week then increasing it as you said, would you still do the Dr Pen every 4 weeks on 0.5 or 1.0?
O sea con profundidad de 0,25 se puede seguir al dia siguiente con todo normal? Retinol,radiofrecuencia....?
Love your videos! For the cosmetic needling do you first wipe your face with alcohol similar to what you do for medical needling? Or, is it okay to just wash your face here? Thank you!
Hi, Please show post links of Anteage product and other products you apply after Microneedling
Xx
Love your videos! So a few hours later, I can complete my skin care routine, meaning cleanse, etc?
Yes ❤️
Penny, If you have rosaeca can you do at home micro needling? If you have those small broken blood vessels will it make them worse?
And I was once told that thickening your skin will cause it to look worse when you get older (much older). Is it that thickening the skin will produce collagen? or just actually creates scar tissue, thickening the skin? Thanks in advance for answering my questions! I'm late to the game in the anti aging department!
How many times should you use the roller before replacing it?
This was excellent and SO helpful. I’ve had a dermaroller for awhile but have been intimidated to use it. The more you can share the better- thank you so much🥰
Would love to know more about growth factors as well:)
Have a beautiful day💕
