I really love seeing all the small towns. This would be the kind of holiday we would love, driving through the countryside, eating local foods. (That brie looked yummy. ) waterfalls are so cool. Yes, the moss and all the unique flora and fauna that live around them are amazing. And the sounds. Well, I learned a couple new terms, a firth and a geo. How cool was that geo. Thanks for the camera work, Phil. Once again, your camper van has been bringing us all on a fabulous trip. So much beauty. Always fun to see and hear the history too, ancient and modern. So much to see - the ww1 and 2 gun emplacements and, before that, the subterranean sites (caves are my absolute limit so I might take courage, with a guide). Beautiful countryside everywhere - thank you for showcasing flowers and moss - the hues and contrasts were brilliant. (Good things come to those who wait... so I was told... pretty jolly true that !😘x)

I know what you mean - I think folk music played on the piano often sounds like it's from a long ago era! I thoroughly enjoyed your trip getting to Orkney Helen. Michael and I went there quite a few years ago and stayed in the lighthouse keepers cottage on South Walls. I remember the wild flowers being so beautiful.... The cairns were really interesting... There's so much history around us if we only know where to look!

Another lovely trip with you both in the campervan. I went to Helmsdale with my family when I was around 14 I think. What a long time ago! Also been to John O’Groats, Pitlochry and Inverness with my husband. We stayed on the Belladrum Estate near Inverness once. What a beautiful waterfall. Looking forward to Part 2. X.

Ah, that's wonderful - such a lovely route between Orkney and the south! When we arrived on 26th May, Orkney had been under a thick mist for a few days I think - but it then lifted and we enjoyed a lot of sunshine as well as wind and rain! I'm looking forward to showing you what we got up to on the rest of our trip! x

I enjoy the hand drawn maps too ✏️... They take me back to 'O' level geography classes, where my favourite part was drawing maps and also diagrams for physical geography😍 I was always the last one out of class because I was so engrossed in drawing my maps😂

Hi Helen Thanks for sharing your journey and as always the history behind the places is fascinating. I was interested to see all the broom and gorse in full flower,we have gorse here in NZ which is classed as a noxious weed and is quite a problem in some areas…it was introduced here by the settlers from the UK as they thought it would remind them of home but our climate here meant it quite quickly because invasive,it does look very pretty though 😂 Looking forward to part two❤

I do love coming along on your journeys. You make me want to follow in your footsteps. I love the Inverness area anyway, but you make me want to go further north! I hope that you are luckier than we have been when you go in search of dolphins. We've tried the Moray Firth... Cromarty and Fort George standpoints to no avail. 😢 I'm really wanting to go to Shetland, too. ❤

Hmm, I know what you mean about places claiming that wildlife can be commonly seen - we have rarely found that to be the case. I thoroughly enjoyed your trip getting to Orkney Helen. Michael and I went there quite a few years ago and stayed in the lighthouse keepers cottage on South Walls. I remember the wild flowers being so beautiful.... The cairns were really interesting... There's so much history around us if we only know where to look!

Another lovely trip with you both in the campervan. I went to Helmsdale with my family when I was around 14 I think. What a long time ago! Also been to John O’Groats, Pitlochry and Inverness with my husband. We stayed on the Belladrum Estate near Inverness once. What a beautiful waterfall. Looking forward to Part 2. X.

Of course I loved it all and now must get up but feel like I've been on a trip. My favourite bits were your maps, 'Sailing' was a wonderful piece of music composed by you and of course the bench made for tall people! Perfect. (Reminders of so many of our holidays. I live in Orkney and have done this journey so many times! The waether is a bit hit and miss here at the moment so I hope you get to see our beautiful islands in the sunshine.
Ah, that's wonderful - such a lovely route between Orkney and the south! When we arrived on 26th May, Orkney had been under a thick mist for a few days I think - but it then lifted and we enjoyed a lot of sunshine as well as wind and rain! I'm looking forward to showing you what we got up to on the rest of our trip! x

I enjoy the hand drawn maps too ✏️... They take me back to 'O' level geography classes, where my favourite part was drawing maps and also diagrams for physical geography😍 I was always the last one out of class because I was so engrossed in drawing my maps😂

Hi Helen Thanks for sharing your journey and as always the history behind the places is fascinating. I was interested to see all the broom and gorse in full flower,we have gorse here in NZ which is classed as a noxious weed and is quite a problem in some areas…it was introduced here by the settlers from the UK as they thought it would remind them of home but our climate here meant it quite quickly because invasive,it does look very pretty though 😂

I do love coming along on your journeys. You make me want to follow in your footsteps. I love the Inverness area anyway, but you make me want to go further north! I hope that you are luckier than we have been when you go in search of dolphins. We've tried the Moray Firth... Cromarty and Fort George standpoints to no avail. 😢 I'm really wanting to go to Shetland, too. ❤

Hmm, I know what you mean about places claiming that wildlife can be commonly seen - we have rarely found that to be the case. However, we were very excited to see the two otters up on the north coast! Shetland is amazing, too - a place we'd love to return to with the campervan. x
