Definitely kick your uncle out! The way he treats you and the way he has treated your mother is definitely a person that doesnt deserve to live comfortably.
You're a very kind and amazing person and its incredibly inspiring hearing all the stories you have for us. Thank you for being who you are.
Derek, I have so much respect for you. Thank you once again for the amazing content.
You have such a thoughtful and generous countenance…like you’re talking about a lot of difficult issues-some internally difficult stuff some externally challenging or provocative stuff-but all the while I can hear in your voice and see in your face the extreme effort you are making to be considerate of your audience and to always communicate your kindness first and foremost. I really appreciate that thoughtfulness..it’s rare in the world to come across a person who has “something to say” who understands exactly how important “the way it is heard” is in terms of executing the act of communication.
Wow...humbled by this comment. Thank you so much !
Beautifully said. I think you must share that quality with Derek~
what you did for that family was so selfless and a really kind thing to do!! you are a great person!
I’m sorry you had to go through all that. You’re a good person. I’m sorry you got punished for your kindness the world certainly needs more of that ❤❤❤
It was worth all the madness:)
Literally the crispiest whispers in all of asmr. I put everything on that statement. 🙃
47:40 the world needs more people like you
the update is here !! great long video Derek
Hello Derek, first off I want to thank you for all your videos, they are not only incredily relaxing but also very insightful.
As a young 25 year old man, I would like to give you my view on your uncle situation. As you said, it was incredibly hard for your mother to have to live with this all these years, knowing that he was stil part of family and having to confront him so many times thorghout her life. I think what he did to you would be enough to warrant kicking him out of your house, not even mentioning what he did to your mother.
I think kicking him out would also benefit your mother - clearly there are some things you can never recover from, but at least she will know you will always have her back and protect her. If you don't, and considering the low price he is paying, he might feel like he can continue bullying and pushing over people and getting away with it, and if you kicking him out makes him feel bad in the slightest, I think that's what you should go for.
So, if it was me, I would kick him out, and go no contact with him and then for the home in my view you have two options - you either sell it, take your mother somewhere on a nice vacation and do whatever the rest with the money (maybe give some to a good cause), or you simply keep it, clean it and eveything and rent it to someone who actually needs it. I think it also ties in nicely with your other story about helping others. Like you said, you do not need the money, so why not kill two birds with one stone? Solve your uncle's situation and help someone in a tough time in their life.
I think that would be very fitting given this video.
I like your thinking....right now my plan is to have a heart to heart with my mom....see what she feels is best. I'm going to talk with her after thanksgiving dinner when everyone else leaves and see where that takes me. I will definitely keep you posted in a future video as this situation evolves.
Found your channel last week. Funny enough I live in Noblesville so we are pretty close! Bought a new construction home here a little over a year ago and loving it.
Wow thats awesome....you are the first to live in the same city...at least the first to let me know! If you see me at the grocery you better say HI!
Love the stories❤
Right on time!😁
thanks for being first!
I'm really excited to listen to this fully and learn more about you, because I really feel like I relate to your temperament and your morals. But I'm commenting only a few minutes into the video because I wanna comment on him not showing up. Like I've mentioned in past comments, I was a realtor for a while and the fact that he bailed doesn't surprise me at all. People think realtors are overpaid, and in many cases they are. But I would confidently say the majority of realtors are getting paid what they're worth or less... because it's always something! You have to try your hardest in every interaction and even then, you're not rewarded consistently. This is a great example of that.
I personally couldn't take the inconsistency and the lack of commitment from buyers, so I ended my real estate career early. It makes me sad at times, because I envision a version of myself where I stuck with it and built a clientele that loved me and referred to me yearly.. and that picture is beautiful. But sadly, I gave up. I sold 5 houses, generated $55k of commission revenue, and my brokerage + Zillow took away $42k of it, leaving me with $13k. After MLS, registration fees, and expenses I believe I profited about $8k in 8 months. Extremely disheartening, extremely frustrating, makes me a bit nauseous even thinking about it now.
Love your effort Derek, you're a better man than me in that way and that's why you've been so successful in the business. I pray more of these types of situations will go your way in the future!
Man you were spending a lot with Zillow. I used them my first 4 years. I was only spending about $25k per year with them but had a better ROI than you. This last year was my first year not paying them and I did well. I wish you could have had a different experience with real estate but am grateful you shared this as it I know my experience is not the norm. THis is why I suggest people start in some other field of sales to build up a database prior to getting into real estate. You need some sort of base to work from, I think, in order to have a better chance of success.
@@ASMRReality I think that's a great piece of advice. Cold starting real estate is definitely rough, it takes a special person in a rare circumstance where they can take losses and "waste" a lot of time to get it rolling.
The deal my team was on with Zillow was actually commission based-- They provided leads to our team of agents exclusively (sounds great at first), so my phone is ringing "for free" daily. But when you close the deal, they take 40% of the commission, then of the remaining 60% my team (Keller Williams Brand/Team) took half, leaving me with that final remaining 30%. Guess my math may have been off, my total personal revenue was likely more like $16k But still, very scarring and I'm sad it worked out that way too. I would love to meet you someday and talk more about my experience and other factors that weighed on my heart and mind. I think real estate people are the best to talk to about real estate things because... they get it! and they care about the details lol
I'd be happy to talk if you ever want to. You can email me at asmrreality@yahoo.com and we can exchange numbers. Maybe you can plan a round 2 for real estate in the future?
@@ASMRReality Absolutely, I'll send you an email sometime introducing myself. I also just finished the video and did a bit of a live reaction with my thoughts. I felt very type-y this morning and thought you might enjoy the live feedback to specific parts of your video. This was a great one Derek!!
6:00 - I too can see both sides. I would have reacted the way you did, but I agree with the commenter that going off on him is probably deserved.. and maybe if some people in his past had "gone off him" he wouldn't be so bold to be accusatory and rude to someone he doesn't know like that.
7:36 - I learned this lesson in a video game I play called Team Fortress 2. I was 14-17 when I learned the lesson, and I threw MANY deals during that time in order to "win the battle" with my words. If you're curious what deals I was making at age 14-17, I was flipping virtual cosmetic items in the game for anywhere between $.10-3500 each. Yes, $3500! I bought my first car with funds from that game.
12:47 - Love it, perfect resolution.
27:52 - Beautiful response! I totally agree with your two points. These are things I didn't come close to experiencing as a new realtor, my deals were all fairly cut and try (sprinkle in your typical and common escrow issues, but nothing I couldn't handle)
37:01 - omg... crazy story!! No good deed goes unpunished, huh!!? I don't think I would have opened the door on this in my current financial state. $20k is a significant portion of my net worth as it stands currently though. Certainly 25 years from now when that changes, I would probably be more willing to make such a sacrifice/risk on behalf of a client I love (2/5 of my successful clients were clients I would have done anything for, and one of them was poor and also immigrants, like your buyer in this story)
41:30 - wtf... he actually did it. Your uncle doesn't understand the importance of protecting family bonds. & woah.. so sorry for your mom. I don't know how to go on this, my initial reaction is KICK HIM OUT!! But he's 80 years old.. what is he going to do? I mean yeah, it's not really your problem. But will that weigh on your mind or heart, even a little bit? If so, I don't know if it's worth it. I was thinking maybe sell the house, but the new owner has to accept some terms that your uncle stays there for X amount of months or years @ $750/mo, that way the new owner is the one who evicts him? I don't know, complicated for sure. I'd lean toward not kicking him out, but I wish there was a way to sever your relationship further after what he did to you.
47:25 - love this lol. Such a good victory for you, professionally but also personally. I know it was a rough three years and lots of effort and drama, but now that it's all said and done, what an awesome story and deed.
Hey Derek, I feel very passionately about that story at the end. I think what your uncle did to you is unforgivable, not even considering what he had done to your mother. A purely spiteful action over such a trivial reason, after you have been supporting him for so long. Even if he is elderly I don’t think that is any excuse, he doesn’t deserve to live in your home.
So eloquently said, I agree
Thank you for giving your opinion on it. I am leaning towards kicking him out.
@@ASMRReality bro....he ****** your mother. and tried to send you to prison. He doesn't deserve to suck air and you are practically paying for his housing.
Loving your whispers. Your mic is at the perfect setting.
That person sounded strange, probably a good idea you didn't meet up. 😮
Ps. Has anyone ever told you that you resemble the actor Corbin Bernson...
FIrst I ever heard that name...and no one has ever told me that. I just googled him and recognize him from some movies!
🎉🎉Been waiting for this 😂😂😂❤❤
Good night
Glad that you got out of that relatively unscathed, sounds like quite a hassle.
Holy shit I just got to the part about the uncle. What an unbelievable piece of shit.
It was a brutal process....the worst was just not knowing what was going to happen over the last 3 years. The first year was the worst....after that I just put my head down and put out some massive production. He thought he buried me....turns out I was an f'n seed!
If you want to do your thing...his name is Daniel Everman on Facebook:)
Crazy story, the uncle gotta go for real, if someone shows you who they are then believe them, you don't need the money or the potential hassle like you say so it's not even worth it
Thank you for your opinion. I haven't decided for sure but leaning this way.
So much for a RELAXING asmr video 😅 kidding, kidding, I always appreciate and listen to your videos. I don’t even know your uncle, and I strongly dislike him. You are so open minded, this story shows how kind you are, you don’t deserve to deal with him, nor does he deserve to have someone as kind as you in his life. Kick. Him. Out. Your mom even saying that out loud to her own son took guts, it would speak volumes to kick him out. Yes people can change, but even a child knows that right and wrong. And decades later he throws you under the bus and wants you behind bars.
I agree, I think there are people who break the law but are doing good. The people who beat up people who take advantage of young girls, like your uncle did, they are technically in the wrong. But…. Are they? There’s law, and there’s morals. I love your heart, keep helping people, keep being kind.
Thank you for giving your opinion on the matter. I am leaning towards giving him the boot. I was shocked when my mom told me that but it truly made my entire childhood with him and her make sense. The puzzle pieces came together when my mom finally revealed that horrible secret and I actually think it was healthy for her to let it out finally.
Yikes! There's so much to unpack here. I will say I think it's a blessing the buyer backed out of the deal. He sounds like an absolute nightmare and possibly some psychological issues there. Imagine something goes wrong, as it's bound to happen, 5-6 months from now I would not be surprised if he attempted to take you to court over it. As for the uncle situation, I want to say kick him out but that might turn into a gruesome court battle if he's your tenant. However, to be petty which you 10000% should be, you could always raise the rent by 5% or more, see if he's into any illegal activities, or maybe offer to help him find another place to stay.
Yes that was one sale I was glad didn't happen....as for my uncle...still undecided but greatly appreciate your input here, Mia! Thank you!
Thats why In florida we don't have dual agency
I know a lot of states do not have it. I have decided if he does call me back, I will tell him to find his own agent and I will simply represent my seller.
My goodness they need to change that rule cuz in my opinion you did nothing inherently wrong. It also seems like it can make it harder for good, hardworking people to buy homes. That good deed will come back positively for you. Sometimes the most heartfelt acts of service are made when you go against the “rule” and when it’s “inconvenient”. Im so sorry to hear that story about your mom. Do what you feel is best with your uncle and maybe even get your mom’s opinion too. If it were me, I wouldn’t feel bad about cutting him off. He made decisions that caused you to put boundaries up to avoid this type of hurt in the future.
Thank you for saying this. I definitely could never trust my uncle again. He burned that bridge for sure!
43:04
I'll just say consider what would happen if he refuses to leave....
And be prepared for the fight, if you do put him out.
If i were to put him out, id go take pictures of the property with dates and then give him notice👍👍
Best of luck!!
I'll definitely use an attorney to evict him!
Nah kick him out old or not what he did to your mother is unforgivable plus he ratted on you over what u said about trump?😂 after letting him live in a house for basically nothing . He should be in jail !🤷♂️
Thank you for giving your opinion on this. I am leaning towards kicking him out!
Hey - for those of us who aren’t aware of the saga, what video(s) should we watch before this one to get up to date?
All of them bro ahah
The one just before this one
Bambi was right...its the video right before this one!

@@ASMRRealitynice i bougt litle bit od BTC (to diversity my porfolio) becouse of you on Coinbase and Now i am 50% up. Thank you 👍 it was good educational video
50:00 who knows, involving your uncle could be the first step in real estate reform.... This could snowball to help others 🤷♀️
As much as i want to say "kick him out!" the respectful and right thing to do is to let him stay.
It's the turning the other cheek....it doesn't always feel good but it always seems right.
Do you turn the other cheek or honor your mother and father??
I think some ppl problem is they haven't been punished since becoming an adult. Some ppl need a reality check @@ASMRReality
@@asmrwishes I find myself wishing it was the wild wild west still....I would resolve this with finality a completely different way:)
Let’s gooooooooo
By the way I totally agree on your Jan 6 opinion. He rallied all those people together in support of something, then just dipped on them and let them get locked up, no pardons. Disgusting.
I am so pleased to hear that the outcome in the case was not bad at all and you do not have to say here but I hope you do not regret in any what you did for that man that you helped. A year will go very quickly. I would like to share my views regarding your uncle but I am seriously wondering what made him think he could stab you in the back (actually front) and get away with it by continuing to live in a home you own? Are his actions in any way dementia related and does he have children etc looking out for him? I also wonder if your mother has any opinions about what you should do?
I think my mother wants me to kick him out but I have not talked to her in a while about this. It's been going on for so many years that I only talk about it when someone asks. As for my uncle, I don't think he would have done it if he didn't have early onset dementia. One of the side effects is extreme anger.
Kick him out. He's gotten away with too much and especially what he did to your mother. He's not your responsibility.
Wow they really hit you with a fee of $5. I’m sure your bank account is in shambles after that 😂
Yep...I thought that was strange too.
You're a good man bro for helping that family and people in general. I wish more people were generous and not in such a me me me mentality. Americans have lost that charisma. As for your uncle I would def kick him out, sometimes some people who don't change gotta learn there are consequences to their ignorance and selfishness.
Appreciate the input...leaning towards an ultimatum of 1)acknowledge that my mom is not making up the childhood story and apologize to her or 2)GET THE F OUT!
Hi derek great video. We need a bitcoin update!!
Next video is the Bitcoin update!
The people commenting the ‘right thing to do’ is to let him stay? Your mother’s rapist? I cannot fathom that mind set. Get that repugnant ‘man’ out of your property. He deserves no pity or grace. The consequences of your actions can come at any time of life. Sounds like his time is up.
I love this comment! Repugnant is the perfect word for him!
Yeah that’s absolutely disgusting. Anyone who says to let him continue to grift off your generosity is literally brain damaged. Not only your mothers rapist but he ratted you out over a stupid political disagreement, and wanted to get him locked up!!!
Wow all that for the guy not to show up lol 😂
Yeah...thats part of the dark side of this job. A lot of work is for absolutely nothing.
That buyer seems like a real nut job. if an alleged theft that happened 11 years ago is gonna change his mind I don’t even wanna know the troubles he would’ve put you through if he was buying. you really dodged a bullet
I agree completely. I'm just glad he went away:)
I finally got around to watching this whole video. I would definitely kick him out if I was you. What he did was a betrayal and there’s no need for any favors from you going forward. after what your mom went through with him I don’t think he deserves to be living at all let alone in your home!
Thank you for your input here. Put like that, it seems clear he has to go!
What does your Mom think? is she comfortable with him there or does she want him gone from her life?
He isn't in her life. They do not communicate at all.
So in very simple terms - you’re on probation for a year and you have to do a 3 hour course? Doesn’t seem that bad in my opinion
Yes thats right. I agree the end result is fairly nominal. Truly for me the not knowing for over 3 years was the heaviest part...plus other people knowing about the situation. Having to deal with an attorney and my brokerage owners and the attorney general....they subpoenaed my bank accounts....it was an invasive process....it took a lot of time over the years dealing with it....explaining it....it was madness....glad its over and I'll coast through probation and this time next year will truly have it all behind me.
Can you not sell houses now for a year ?
Yes, I can still sell homes. Probation just means if I get caught doing anything outside of the rules, it will mean much worse consequences, likely resulting in immediate suspension of my ability to sell real estate.
@ASMRReality thanks for clarifying
So strange. Something definitely seemed off with that guy…
Yeah...he's not the first disturbed individual I have come across and sadly, he won't be the last.
43:02
He's an old man. He has done horrific things, yes, but would your conscience be clear if you were to kick him out? Personally i think you should leave him in the house. Let him stay there for as long as he wants to stay there, but limit your contact with him. If he wants jobs done on the house, make him pay. If he wants his boiler or AC serviced, make him pay.
He doesnt deserve you're kindness, but you should still give it nonetheless. Karmically, its the right thing to do. I dont believe in a higher power, but his comeuppence will come I'm sure, if it hasn't already.
That being said. It might also be worthwhile asking your mother what she thinks on the housing situation. If she wants to punish him, then do it, give him the boot. He does deserve it. But the terrible things he did, where, from what it sounds like, over 50 years ago. They do not directly involve you. They effect you, yes, but you were not directly involved. So asking your Mum might be the best first step.
Regardless, you are a stand-up guy, Derek. You have created a nice community here, and that is because of your welcoming and kind nature. So thank you for all you do, and have done!
Grateful to have you here and appreciate your advice on this. Not sure yet what I will do but I will discuss with my mom and see what her take is.
I think the old people are right, it is generally best to stay away from political discussions though it would be nice if we could disagree politically and still be cool with each other. Years ago, I lost a dear and valued friend who thinks Trump is the second coming of Satan and seems to hate others that have a more nuanced view of him.
On the matter of your uncle, unfortunately, I suspect you just might have some problems with him either way. Still, in your position, I would take the middle way of compassion combined with justice. Seeing that he has money and he is not destitute, I would put him out but without being too directly involved, I would give him as much kindness and support as possible to move on. Perhaps even some limited extra time to find a new place if he needs it. It is neither sensible nor wise to overlook what he has done and the potentially serious future implications for you were he to engage in that type of behavior again which I think is highly possible.
Yes...sadly...as usual...the old folks are right...it is best to stay away from political discussion as much as possible especially when it comes to family. I am hopeful that all these people that have convinced themselves that Trump is the devil will be humbled over the next 4 years as they see that all that they were told about him were lies. I am hopeful that the next 4 years will be a healing time for our country and we are in a much better place after this. As to my uncle situation, I plan to have a heart to heart with my mom over Thanksgiving and find out what she wants to happen. I am letting her have the power in all of this. She deserves it. I will be at peace with whatever she decides and am hopeful that Karma will work her magic soon as well.
@@ASMRReality Also, in your popular house tour video it seems that the tour ended about 14 minutes into the video then there was just voice-over on top of a message for the rest of the video. Did you change this video recently?
@@rosieposie9564 No that is how that one has always been. Looking back, not sure if I didn't know how to merge in showing me talking after the home tour ended but I definitely would have made that differently if making it today.
Kick him out because he sounds like a bad person and he got u in truble and so either kick him out or
make him pay 2 or 3x rent
Well its official folks....GAMING MACHINE has ruled and the old bastard is getting kicked out!
@@ASMRReality give us an update on him, also did u say ur uncle r worded ur mom?
@@gamingmachine6042 Yes he did that to my mom and I will definitely give an update once I make the decision. I'll probably do a home tour of the place after he moves out. He is a slob so it will be a mess.
