the things you say always resonate and stay with me long after i'm done watching your videos Derek. most people think in black and white terms of success and failure, but i think what motivates a successful person to become and stay successful is your mindframe that nothing is finite and every low leads to a high, then comes back around. i once read an interview with Brad Pitt where he was asked about his regrets and failures, i'm paraphrasing, but he basically said that he doesn't think in these terms and that every failure was a lesson \preparation ext step of his journey. his answer stuck with me since and your words truly echo the same beautiful sentiment.

Glad to have found your channel. All the things you talk about are what I am experiencing as I snap out of my 20s haha. Even the dieting. Eating only animal products has helped with my weight management/mental clarity as well. Sugar and carbs are awful to me🫨 I’m also getting ready to buy my own first home and learning how to invest my contributions properly. It’s not easy to find facts, but it’s appreciated to hear someone speak honestly about their financial experiences. Thank you!!

Hello am one of your younger subs from Greece, i found your videos really helpfull and intresting.

Interesting video as always. From an intuitive/gut feeling point of view I'm going to say it's a massive cope to pretend that singlehood will be a long term good for society. From a logical point of view (if you need it) weaker gene pools, falling fertility, aging population leading to potential economic collapse etc etc. From a less logical perspective life is sadly a multiplayer game - lone wolf ideology and a over focus on going it alone sounds unbelievably miserable. Human beings are social creatures and I don't see anything good coming of this trend. The west prides itself on its individualism but that can only get a society so far. Having worked with many young men in a clinical setting - I can already see levels of depression, anxiety, generalised mental illness and even suicide rates going crazy, even more so post COVID. Now obviously there is a myriad of reasons for this outside of single life but I have a hunch it has a part to play. I can't speak to women so much but I have equal feelings that they are likely negatively impacted by having poor if not any relationships/ being single for prolonged periods. It'll be interesting to see where all this ends, I hope I'm just being emotional and over blowing the potential damages and issues. I'll be happy if my gut is proven wrong on all this.

You make some great arguments and i wholeheartedly agree about not rewarding laziness. Putting things down to hard work is just too reductive in my opinion. If hard work made you rich, donkeys would be covered in gold. For every luxury we have here in the west, some poor sod on the other side of the world has been exploited for it. Them Iphones, nice shoes and even cloths people covet so much come from sweat shop hands, child labour and piss poor wages. The immigrants you mention feed into this - we import them in because they know no different and will work harder for less. Also saying some people from difficult backgrounds make it so things must be fine screams survival bias to me. Just because one kid makes it out the sweat shop doesn't make the other 100 being there right. Everyone should feel a duty to offer something to the world and society around them but that contract goes both ways - those who serve our society should be rewarded for their endeavours and efforts, those that don't should not. You surly aren't ignorant to nurses, military vets and teachers being treated like second class citizens despite the value they offer our society? I can't tell you how many vets I know that have their country turn their back on them despite them busting their balls to keep us all safe and protect our interests. Your analysis also fails to address those that aren't seen as good economic capital anymore. Disabled folk in my family I bend over backwards for and care for knowing full well they can't do it for themselves. I'd hope with your wealth if you ever ended up having a disabled child you'd be willing to do what it takes to protect and enhance their life in whatever way you possibly can, despite the fact you'd know they couldn't work and earn like you. Hard work is important but if it were the defining element of geting on in life my coal mining ⛏️ grandparents would be the richest people in town. We must honour our contact with the people of our nation and society at large. Looking at everything for the lense of capitalism is ridiculous and leads to a completely miserable existence. There's extraordinary amounts of work people do that is never seen as worthy of monetary reward. Mothers, brother, sons, daughters etc etc. You're right about learning to covet the right things. Love, family, friends and brotherhood. All things that serve me in ways you can't quantify monetarily. Amazing wife, fantastic kids, beautiful home and a community that look out for one another is my blessing. I'm lucky I never fell for the trap that is material wants, it good you came to realise this as you began to age. "Wealth consists not in having great possessions, but in having few wants" Great video and super thought provoking content. Keep up the marvellous work!

I’d also be very interested in seeing a visual of how your viewership has changed gender wise, and especially after some of your videos that have had heated topics and/or videos were you have taken a political stance. Women statistically lean left and my guess is that you have alienated many people with your strong opinions on certain subjects. It’s interesting. Here is a question I’ve wanted to know for a long time. Can you drill down to specific of when people hit the like or potentially dislike button in the video? Is there a way to visualize it and see. I’ve always wondered because it seems like it might be really helpful, especially in ASMR to know if people hit the like or dislike during a particular sound or when talking about something specific. It might help a creator be able to say, “oh people love that apparently.” Or “this caused people to dislike something.”
