    Swamp coolers are very good investment in hot areas. We use them in every corner in my school workshop. My country is very hot, just last Saturday the temperature reached 116.6°F and at night it still over 104°F.

      Joshua Odowd exactly, the most mechanical an engine can get, and the truck is killer... my question is, how little knowledge does he have on wiring lol, like there’s very few things to wire on this engine lol because it’s literally 85% mechanical and that’s why it’s so dependable...

    If you put your old fan about 4-5' in front of that evaporative cooler, it should REALLY throw some of that cold air around. Or, if you can figure out how to create a vortex in your show to work the air all the way around your shop you can keep it nice and cool.

    I remember back in the 70's when we went to "plug and play". The bid deal was to find women that knew how to do tatting (intricate embroidery) which we found in Mexico and Puerto Rico. The results had to be six sigma. It eliminated six (?) stations on the assembly lines. Those folks hated it, but the dealers loved it.
    Much later I bought 18 Mazack machining centers (for another company) to machine engine blocks to 4 microns - no cylinder lapping. The neat part was to get some work for the new line and swap out the old line. It was a big deal, the old line fed off a 168 gallon hydraulic fluid tank. A break in the line near the operator would fry him within 30 seconds. The new line used 2 1/2 gallons per center, had an auto shut off with a sudden change in pressure and the operator was shielded. The old line operators would not go along with it. We moved the line to another state. Same union, different leaders. The operators did not mind maintaining their pay rate while they swept floors and kept the plant white glove clean. Yes, we tore out 22,000 sf of concrete floor and replaced it with a triple reinforced floor 4' thick. Yes, four feet in a single pour. WOW! What machines! Each center 48,000 lbs but each center could be unplugged, pulled off line and used for one-off production or proto-typing.
    It was fun for a fellow with an undergraduate degree in finance and a minor in German literature at the graduate. But this stuff got under my skin and I have been involved with it for 56 years. Now, with my son, we have started a logistics business for cargo over dimension/ over weight. We have our own truck a Kenworth W900L with 625 hp. and a 55 ton Fontaine RGN trailer and nine subcontractors working for us.
    The point is that you and Andrew Camerata have taught me so much. Thank you and may God bless you and your family.

    2:44 my Dad had a broken fan so I went to Walmart and bought the exact same one, saved the box, put the broken one inside. We complained to Walmart customer service that it wasn't working so we gave them the receipt and they gave us a new one for free. Now we have 2 fans haha. Its called the Chicano shuffle. You should try it when that cooler breaks down on you.

    If you want a cheaper building cooler you can put a garden sprinkler on top of your shop and turn it on. It'll drop the temperature inside making it feel less like a microwave. My dad used to work at a auto shop with the hoop style front building and in the middle of summer with the sprinkler going you could put your hand on the ceiling and it not scald yourself

    A tip for the hot days. Put a soaker hose on the roof peak. Just like a radiator, the cool water will pull the heat off steel roof. Of course if you are on town water you would want to rig up some water tanks and recirculating pumps.

  • @dansmith9442
    @dansmith9442 5 років тому +1

    Hey man I enjoy your videos!! I buy the same kind of junk you do and slowly put them back together. On your Porta Cool unit make sure you keep the water reservoir clean otherwise gunk forms in it and causes mold. The membrane the the water runs down will also stop working properly if the pipe that feeds it gets the gunk in it.

    Run a soaker hose along the ridge of the roof of the shop you want the water to just drip off the edges. It will lower the temp in the shop like you almost have A/C. You can put any kind of sprinkler you want up there put the soaker hose uses the lessst amount of water.

    Steel feelers gauges won't hurt the sensor, even if it had power to it. I would make sure the notches in the crank pulley doesn't have too much rust preventing the sensor from detecting notches. Also most hall effect sensors work best when there is next to no space. Good luck. Oh, lastly make sure the wires aren't switch. Hall effect sensors are dependent on polarity.

    Add Cummins stickers for the back window...
    Remove everything that says Ford and replace it with Ram logos or stickers to make it hillarius...since it's known that the Cummins engine is used on Ram trucks...
    ...it would make a cool hillbilly truck.
