  • Hello everyone! Welcome back to a new series, in this series of videos, I will be taking you through the full vanilla Space Engineers survival process. Teaching the basics all the way through to advanced game mechanics to turn you into a true Space Engineer.
    My aim with the series is to easily introduce new players to the game via a walkthrough guide of it's features. If you have any questions or need help, leave a comment and I'll get back to you when I can!

    500+ hours of almost entirely survival, never made it to space (due to losing interest). In both my last and the current playthrough I used ChatGPT to give me some inspiration on ships/RP scenarios. Nowadays it seems so difficult to find inspiration because for me it's either the unattainable mastery of building good looking ships (like Omega and Major Jon to name a few builders) or the difficulty of building things and implementing them in survival either from a projector or freehand. Just yesterday I finished building in creative my first space ready vessel with a decent walkable interior (my second ever ship to have walkable interior, first ever pressurised interior), and in survival my second ever base that was more than just a larger and larger steel block sheet. Every now and then I look at some of your videos for inspiration too, so I can't wait to see you build some cool things in survival (and maybe some more creative mode build videos). Love your content regardless of series, it's just generally comfy vibes.

      Have you ever tried to have a duplicate of your Survival Save?
      I duplicate mine and make one "Research & Development" for those exact purposes.
      Might help with keeping interest and direction to your game.

      @@johndee2990 No, I never tried that. How would it work? Create backups before building or testing a ship or just generally fooling around?

      Scenarios are always a great way to spice things up, it's all about immersion which is why I like to take things slow and do a bit of RP. Glad you enjoyed!

      @@sorin369 Sorry about the Late Reply.
      You Duplicate the R&D save and then turn it creative in the Load Menu Options.
      This let's you experiment with Grid set-ups as well as testing Drones (Because they like to smack into Voxels)
      Technically you can use it to scout but I like to Scout in Survival.

    Note: Stone is processed faster in the basic refinery, but yields less than the survival kit.
    As long as the bottleneck is mining the stone I use the survival kit.
    When more mining capability is obtained using ship drills, then the speed of the refinery wins.

    • @thenothinguploader
      @thenothinguploader 22 дні тому

      how many yield upgrades are required to get the same value from stone in the refinery as from stone in the survival kit?

  • @Voeluspa45

    I landed in a sandy area and digged there. It took me minutes to fill up on stone and after about one hour I thought this cannot be right. I used my jetpack to get to a grassy area, dug down and filled my inventory in 20 seconds. So different ground types yield different amounts of stone.

    Dude, I've had this for years, but i'm a dad of two and never got over the initial frustration but now the kids are older I've got time to commit and literally today got to the "assembler complete" stage. Torch server.

    I always watch new starting videos because every player likes to do things differently. Some build a base, some convert their pod, some do a bit of both.

    For some reason, after following the game for a decade and not playing it because my PC was really bad, a week ago, I broguht new components and it was enough to play SE!
    After watching splitsie and your videos (I'm on number #29 on your other series) I finally managed to play for 50 hours this last weekend and easter. Thanks for making this series so I can keep learning new stuff!

    I started breaking up even my starting grids into a sort of "Work Site" ever since I saw your video about keeping yourself motivated.
    1- Right next to my starting mine (hopefully leading to more than just stone) I place the Assembler and Refinery (Basic) and integrate them into the Power Tower which will later have Red Hazard Lights for spotting by Air.
    2- I rely on the Respawn Pod to use the Survival Kit's medical functions whilst Mining and Refining about as fast as I can sprint a loop around the Canteen shaped Hole I'm Digging (unless I've found Ore)
    3- The next is the Medical/Foreman's Shack which will obviously house the Survival Kit but also the Oxygen Tank, Hydrogen Tank, H2/O2 Generator and any Radio/Beacons and Logic Blocks for Airlock system leading to Landing Pad (conveyed up connector)
    4- The last thing is making a powerline to a Battery/Solar Tracking Tower.
    Once I have made this quick starting work site the progression is about ready to start making Rovers, Flyers, Miners and Skimmers.
    If you want an example of one of my personal meta Beginning Vanilla Skimmers, look-up the "(H2S) Hill Strider" on the Steam Workshop.

    The start of the game is really fun for me. and I usually try to see how fast I can do it. The current one I am playing I changed things up a bit. I said, Europa start no jetpack, no third person view no sling shotting to mars using atmo thrusters. Stay on Europa and build the ship there.... Lets say it was interesting....

    You don't even need to grind it all the way down; grind it to below "Functional" and weld it back up to at least "Functional", and it still counts as having built the block. That applies to all blocks that are prerequisites to unlock other blocks.

    • @StellarisIgnis
      @StellarisIgnis 10 днів тому

      This doesn't always work as intended and some blocks require replacement -> function to count.

    Ну, я не знаю, мой путь при постройке базы такой. Сначала я устанавливаю источник энергии (ветряную турбину или солнечную панель), затем переношу из капсулы модуль выживания и генератор кислорода. После этого я смотрю, если рядом нет залежей железа, то строю базовый сборщик. Затем я ищу железо с помощью ровера и строю очиститель руды. Если железо рядом, то я строю очиститель и сборщик.
