Apologies for all the crashing and things that happened today - I've unfortunately got one of the rapidly failing intel 13th gen CPUs. I've been dealing with intel for it and just after the stream ended I got an email from Intel, they're sending me the replacement before I send the busted one, but it now means I've got to wait for that to get shipped... just before christmas, so I've gotta keep my fingers crossed it arrives soon :(
no worries bud, If it was me I would swap that thing out for an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D as soon as possible. At least if it's compatible with the rest of your hardware, I've heard it's the best you can get for gaming at the moment, doesn't have any of the Intel nonsense, and at least from what I've seen appears to live up to the hype. Wish you luck in sorting it out regardless my friend hope you have a wonderful day. ps. I cannot bloody wait for more assertive acquisitions XD
Been having exactly the same issue with my intel processor. I did find that using their Extreme Tuning Utility software and lowering the Performance Core Ratio from x57 to x54 fixes the issues. But it is really just a bandaid and I should really contact someone about getting it replaced with one that actually works as intended
If you were to crash while driving what would happen? Would the sensor still detect you as being present and just keep driving in whatever direction you were going?
Splitsie, one thing I learned from playing with the water mod and collectors: put the collector on "don't use conveyors" so it's never going to push ice into your cargo containers, but the O2 generators can still pull from it without problems. This prevents your cargo to fill up with ice like crazy.
Yeah, I had a similar setup in my ares at war game. I left it on here because I didn't mind getting a bit extra to burn through later as we won't always be near water 🙂
A style of drill rig I really like would make it super easy to drill boulders like that, and is a good use of a turret controller. The key is to use a rotor for side to side control, then a hinge NOT controlled by the turret controller just deployed to a 45 degree angle(can also use this to stow it) then a piston or two followed by a hinge that the controller does operate up and down, then pistons and drill(s). Slap a camera looking down the last line of pistons, point it to the boulder using the turret controller, and extend those drill pistons into it.
Capac:isms of the day Five meters is the margin of error that i am leaving for your driving of this thing. Hey, All evil suggestions are supposed to be in my chat. I think that is the banana rattling against the bridge maybe?
Wrong way out - #8. Top Gear Begins! This is beyond a doubt, the best episode so far and I'm only one hour into it. Capac and Tiffany are hilarious. Splitsie doesn't have a choice or someone watching over him. Are things perfect? No. Is everything going smoothly? No. Is it entertaining to watch? Yes. Thank you guys
"how things do a float" is simple: 1 - when you add something to water, the level of the water must go up. That is, the object sinking into water must lift the water it is sinking through. 2 - in order to do this, the thing sinking into the water must weigh more than the water it will lift at the point where it is fully submerged water (pure) masses one ton per cubic meter. If you have a one cubic meter object, then it only needs to meet 2 conditions to float: 1. it must be sealed so that water cannot enter it 2. it must mass less than one ton. Alternately, if it cannot be sealed, it must be constructed of materials less dense than water, which will ensure that it always weighs less than it displaces.
I don't have any plans on publishing the main mod as I am making changes to it every week, many of which would break saves if you weren't in the right place.
Very enjoyable to watch. That hinge-hinge-hinge-rotor-corner-hinge - contraption was something to witness. Wouldn't have thought that after countless vehicles with trailers you'd ever build anything more complex than hinge-rotor-hinge again 🤣. You might have given the "hollow rooms" - approach to buoyancy a chance. I mean, the banana was a free hint there. Just some 5x6x3 airtight segments with conveyors along one side and a vent into the hollow. Should be much cheaper than tanks (the cost of large pipes alone...). All the best to your CPU...
I got an email from Intel just after the stream ended, they're sending me the replacement before I send the busted one, but it now means I've got to wait for that to get shipped... just before christmas, so I've gotta keep my fingers crossed it arrives soon :(
Hopeful and excited for a new season or continuation of an assertive acquisitions! I’m going back and re-watching scrapyard engineers while I wait for more content like that from the space engineers community on UA-cam.
For the foldy ramp: instead of deploying the ramp under power, why not set it to always be trying to fold, then deploy it by turning the hinges off? Give them a small amount of braking torque, to cushion the fall as they deploy, but otherwise let it flop? that way you can let it go to the ground AND it won't break itself if you forget it
The ramp can't fall into the position it needs to be in, since it's double bent in the middle that part will flop down vertical and not be particularly helpful :(
Maybe for the next series that involves just you and capac, you could do a water mod heavy world, maybe also using both the ‘Industrial overhaul’ and ‘air-o-dynamic’ mods.
Huh, I wonder if that would generate enough drag to move it. With a paddle boat style not working I'm not confident, but I definitely would like to give it a go
The second coldest night on record in Tasmania is -13.5 C… That is NOT cold. The RBLF is routinely subjected to -35 C days with windchills of -40 C or lower in the winter. And in Winnipeg, the corner of Portage and main occasionally records temperatures colder than the surface of Mars. So no, Tasmania is not cold. It’s very cool. 😂🇨🇦
I'm loving that my experience of Space Engineers is more stable on Linux than your experience on Intel. Intel really fumbled the last two generations of CPUs, at least their GPUs are getting better.
Aside from the vague "all of the things you're suggesting", what have you tried? Reducing the thermal throttling limit? Significantly underclocking? I guess it doesn't really matter if you're getting it replaced, but until it arrives.
Kinda sad you fixed the energy issue, was hoping for a giant sailboat solar sail on the wronco, including unnecessary sub grids to have some on angles so they look better xD Then again that would probably make flipping over way worse
You guys are complaining about Tasmania being too cold, and here I am maybe getting snow for Christmas for the first time in years. I'd definitely rather this than Australian heat.
You could try watercooling your PC Splitsie. I'm in South-East QLD and currently building an AMD hardline watercooled PC. Bought all the parts from Aussie retailers online. Places like PC Case Gear, PLE Computers, and OC Gear all have stores in or close to Sydney and Melbourne. Feel sorry that you've got to deal with the Intel issue. It's one of the main reasons I went AMD.
I'm not interesting enough in tinkering to have the patience for a full water cooling loop (wouldn't have any impact on my current issue anyway), but I do have a bequiet AIO, which I like because you can top them up 🙂

I'm sure we'll try some of the airtight thing, but I think having the tanks there as a conveyor system and as known points of lift (to ensure some sort of balance) is helpful for the 3 of us who have pretty much never played with the mod.
I know you don't want advice but to keep the CPU a bit cooler you can easely stop it from boost by going to the power management options advanced and set max CPU usage to 99%. Yes you lose power but since you already have a damages CPU it might help to stop it from breaking even faster.
I've been poking around in the bios all day and seem to have found something that works, ran the test for 5 hours with no crashes so hopefully I'm ok until the replacement arrives. It's probably tanked my performance though
If the structural load and slope of the roof allow, mqybe go green and plant some succulents onto your shed's roof. As long as they get some water every now and then, that should help quite a bit.

why not just have a deployable (vertical) lift that descends when the vehicle stops and automatically retracts before moving?
IF you can do a timer block for handbrake (wheels off) + lift deployment you shouldn't be able to drive off with it deployed?
