Made these today. My wife laughed when I said I was making brownies with zucchini and apple sauce. Needless to say an hour later it wasn’t brownies she was eating, it was her words
@Alexia Zamora thats soo sweet ! Thank you so much Alexia for this comment. I really appreciate what you wrote. I made it, it was delicious but unfortunately I didn't put enough sweetness in it. I didn't measure the honey(i didn't have maple syrup). Next time I will do better hopefully. The kids didn't like it because of this.. Hey Alexia, why don't you have a go and make it for your mom/family?its very easy! (Dont make that mistake though and measure the sweetener well haha)
You're an absolute gem for including the measurements for the ingredients in grams as well. Saves me the headache of converting everything from cups! Ugh, the one time I don't have any apples for applesauce! I'm going to try this with some mashed ripe banana. I bet it'll be delicious either way.
@@u13613to yes, same quantity, finely grated. I cooked it 2 min in the microwave with a cover to make it soft like a zucchini. Don't know if it was a unnecessary step
I just made those for the second time. Absolutely delicious! This time I used 150g of applesauce and added 20g of plain rice protein and 50g erythritol instead of maple syrup. Also I made them in a muffin tray. They came out 15. Each one was only 59cal with 3,5g of protein. I truly believe they will turn out to be a staple at home!
Just made these in the last hour. Different, spongy and dense. Replaced the egg with chia seed and ground flax seed egg substitute. I used the grater as you suggested. Awesome recipe. Thanks again. I now have desserts because of your recipes.
This will be my first ever comment. As someone who has been into fitness/weightlifting for over a decade, I've gotten into many of the "anabolic" recipe videos, and learned a few tricks. I followed this recipe pretty closely and made some minor alterations to make it truly "guilt free" (if you're someone who counts calories and protein intake). Just posting this in hopes it helps one person try out this recipe, because it's really the first time I've been able to eat a brownie and feel GOOD about it. 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp ground cinnamon 4 egg whites (133g according to my specific brand) 1 tsp vanilla extract 280g shredded zucchini (finely shredded, as the video states) 60g (two scoops) chocolate whey protein (I use Isoflex) 125g blended rolled oats (I didn't have oat flour) 125g unsweetened apple sauce 60ml honey (approximately 86g if weighing on a food scale) 35g unsweetened hershey's cocoa powder 1/2 tsp splenda (not required, I don't even know if this made a difference at all) I followed the instructions exactly as per video for prep/cooking. Once complete, I divided into 9 squares, with approximately (depending on how accurate you are with ingredient measurements and division of the brownies) the following nutritional breakdown: 131 Cal 10.4g Protein 1.5g Fat 22.6g Carbs 3.4g Fiber For someone on a calorie restrictive diet, trying to build muscle (aiming for 1g protein per pound of bodyweight), These brownies are guilt free, and also pretty delicious. They're no restaurant dessert brownie, but they're also 20% of the calorie content. Great recipe even without my alterations. Looking forward to more videos.
Hi there Phil! Thanks so much for your amazing first comment! Love the recipe upgrade, I believe it will help a lot of people here. I will give it a try, that's for sure. This whole framework how you managed to boost protein and reduce carbs and total calories is so interesting, will try to apply on some of my other recipes as well.
dude I was wondering if someone will comment down with an anabolic recipes and while watching the video was also thinking what I could substitute to make it higher in protein and then decided to read the comment and boom you just made my life soo much easier hahahaha thanks but maybe I'll only use 1 scoop fricken protein powder so expensive (still a student no work sad 😢 )that's why I stop making those types of recipe and just decided to use this healthy recipes as a base. Thank you for sharing you anabolic version dude much love peace ✌️
I tried this recipe yesterday! I used banana instead of applesauce and grape molasses+some honey instead of maple syrup. It turned out SUPER DELICIOUS, i wasn't expecting it to be super delicious! I can't stop eating it lololol And the fact it is really low cal?? Thank you so much for the recipe, i love your channel and recipes! Have a wonderful day!
This is the healthiest brownie recipe I have seen! You always have the healthiest, perfectly developed recipes. I appreciate that you do not use oil or butter! (I'm developing a little more cake-like brownie using this as my basis. )
Oh Sasha, I just made tonight this delicious chocolate Fudge. It is a hit and it will be a regular sweet. Thank you very much for sharing. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 😊
I baked these yesterday and honestly you cannot taste, or even tell the Courgette (Zucchini) is there! Really simple and easy recipe, and I enjoyed baking them. I did add one cube of melted milk chocolate per brownie, to decorate the top of it for a little bit more sweetness (I have a very sweet tooth). Thank you so much for this recipe :)
Hi there! Thanks for trying these out, I appreciate your feedback! Exactly, you can't taste the zucchini at all, I'm going to make some with pumpkin too.
I don't normally comment on youtube vids, but i just made these today, and these are by far the best healthy brownie recipe and even healthy dessert recipe ive ever made. It tastes like a real brownie, doesn't have some weird aftertaste or completely dry cake texture like other recipes, and the texture is perfect. Thank you so much for this! I have not seen anyone do a healthy cookie/cookie dough recipe that actually works, so if you can make one of those that would be awesome.

I tried it and it was super delicious. All the recipes are excellent . Please do mention what kind of mistakes beginners are likely to make. That will be a huge help. Thank you
I used mashed banana instead of apple sauce. Also added on crushed chocolate almonds with a a little bit of kosher salt....DIVINE. Definitely not a typical brownie flavor, much darker and not as sweet, but it’s not sickening after you eat them like regular ones. Definitely will make more and might try sweet potato instead of zucchini too 🤔😄
Hi Jessie! Thanks so much for your amazing feedback! Exactly, these are not too sweet, but still so delicious! Sweet potato brownies, sure, I'll give it a try too!
I made this yesterday! My comments. I followed everything to the T except when adding the following ingredients: Maple syrup: i didnt have so i put honey instead (its not original original honey) Apple sauce: i didnt have and its expensive to buy in my country even if it is available so i put yogurt. I regret putting cinnamon cuz i hate cinnamon and i felt it was too overpowering..probably cuz i hate it, i felt that way. You cannot taste the zucchini at all. Its so much better than oil or butter ☺. Oh and i used baking powder and not soda by mistake. Im no expert in baking so no clue as to the difference either would make. The brownie wasnt sweet like normal brownies but then again its healthy so who cares. If someone wants it more sweeter maybe you can increase the sweet ingredients. Overall i like the recipe.
Thanks for your fabulous recipes I usually go straight to the description box for the receipes to see if eggs or dairy are in the mix. Alot of your yummy recipes don't have either. THANK YOU!!
Thank you, I'm going to try this! Edit: just made these, put a chocolate ganache on top, delicious!! Then I used the same batter, but replaced the sweet and cacao with grated onion and cheese, you got me started now, this is great!
Wow, that's what I call being creative in the kitchen, well done! Absolutely love the idea of making these brownies the savory way, have to try this as soon as possible. And yes, you miss it with the chocolate ganache! Thanks a lot for your feedback!
I made these today and I loved them! They were moist, soft, and chocolatey, and adding a bit of vanilla ice cream on top made the brownies just sweet enough for my liking. Thank you so much! :)
I made these today and substituted cooke squash for the zucchini and added a bit more sweetener than recommended and they turned out really well. I added melted dark chocolate on top too.
Thanks for this recipe! I just made these today, and I did the flax-egg and I shredded the zucchini unpeeled. Very good! Glad for this recipe because it's a good replacement for things much worse for my health. Definitely making these again and will try to keep these around as they are very satisfying.
This looks like a really good recipe. I never knew about the flax seed before being able to be used as an egg. May try it. This is something I can keep in the freezer, too for my husbands lunches. Thanks so much.
I LOVE IT! It's funny, last night I was thinking about making gluten free brownies and today you posted a video. Thank you so much for your amazing recipes and I love your channel. Please stay safe ❣️🌷
Hi! This is the third recipe of yours I've made (I just found your channel last week, when searching for recipes with oat flour). I made these just three hours ago, and they have turned out very nice! I love the texture. I baked them a bit longer so they turned out cake-y (which we like), after adding some walnuts to the batter. They're not overly sweet which I love, and they're definitely going to be eaten for breakfast tomorrow too! Thank you for your recipes. I don't eat refined sugar (I mainly use honey), so your recipes are amazing for me! P.S. I plan to try your lemon bars next :) I can't wait!
Zucchini has become my best friend in the kitchen, it’s amazing. Love this recipe also using the ground oats! I’m going make these right now! Thanks for sharing!!🤗
I know right, I’ve grown some ( that’s what lockdown does to you) and my husband said “ we don’t even eat them” little does he know I literally hide them in everything. When you have a fussy 4 year old you discover the best veg for going undiscovered 😂😂😂
Can you share more of these low calorie recipes:)? I have sugar and i try to lose weight but cutting everything out is not an option for me. But these kind of recipes really help. Thank you SO much!!!!!🙏
I made these today, added a handful of milk chocolate chips and 50 grams of caster sugar in the batter to make it appealing for my kids. Everyone loved it! Really gooey, moist and chocolatey. Neither can you taste the zucchini nor tell that the recipe is made with oats! Winner all the way. Thank you so much for this recipe!!! 💖
Hi! Thanks so much for your feedback! Great move to make the kids enjoy the recipe too, but I think you'll be fine with just adding the chocolate chips.
Hi sir, I just tried your brownies🙂 !!! Guess! Completely successful just like yours .... and so good en very tasty mmm! Even my son likes it. Whenever I try a recipe from you I will send my positive feedback !! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes with everyone .... love it soooo much🙂👍👍❤❤Keep going, you are doing great!!!
Great recipe! Also, I love how you said to replace the egg for a flax egg to make them vegan, and vegan people don't have to guess if it will work or not :)
OMG! I'm going to try these, I have a sweet tooth so anything sweet I love! My late mother used to make sweets using vegetables as child and ask us to guess this we could never believe she made them from vegetables back then...this was before zucchini or courgette as we call it in some parts of world) was popular. Thank you! P.S I will post back once I make it! Hope your gram qty's are correct as I dont use cups though do have them. Thanks
Hi there! Thanks a lot for your kind comment! Yes, baking sweet using vegetables is just fenomenal thing to do, it adds nutrition without knowing it's there, going to try out these with pumpkin and sweet potato too. Hope this recipe will work for you. Happy baking!
I have a sweet tooth that tends to derail my attempts to reduce my sugar intake. Your channel has tons of low sugar and low glycemic recipes that still satisfy my sweet tooth cravings. Thank you so much for your simple, easy recipes. I'll be trying this after my next trip to the grocery store.
Hi there! Thanks so much for your awesome feedback! I'm truly happy my recipes work for you! Hope you'll like these zucchini brownies! Have a beautiful day!
Wow i made them and they taste SO delicious! Not too sweet which i think is optimal for brownies and you dont taste the Zucchini at all! I defenetly recomment you to use the cinnamon because it gives it such an unique and fantastic flavour!!! Thank you so much for this recipe, I'll defenetly make it again!
Thank you for such great recipe! I've just made them with my 4 year old daughter. We didn't have any apple sauce so added one big banana instead, we also added half cup of chocolate chips. They are delicious! My daughter keeps asking for more 🙂
Hi Dragana! Thanks so much for your lovely feedback! Baking brownies with your daughter, precious moments, so glad she enjoyed these! Love all the changes you did. Enjoy your weekend!
Thank you so much! Ohhh, I am making these tomorrow and your delicious cheddar cheese biscuits. I have all the ingredients. The one thing I truly love about your recipes is that the ingredients are so simple and nutritious at the same time and that you can substitute them with other simple ingredients and the recipes still come out tasting delicious. Plus the ingredients are very economical and easy to find.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS RECIPE ✨ I really love your channel!! (Am an oat fan here too 🙌) I have made this zucchini brownies twice the past two weeks and really loving it, and my favorite way of enjoying it is by topping it with jam or peanut butter~ This definitely became my instant favorite for a yummy, guilt-free treat or breakfast
@@qwincebd That's great! I think it's better to indulge these than something else, really love them out of the fridge as summer dessert. Thanks for trying it out! Enjoy your weekend!
Hi Sasha, I'm so excited to try this zucchini brownie as I have coming into season. And I like the applesauce idea. Such a great dessert or I could even have this for breakfast with coffee. So good! Thank you.
Instead of oats I used roasted finger millet flour Instead of egg and added flax seed powder mixed with water Instead of maple syrup i used jaggery powder. Skipped apple sauce its costly and don't find it easily where i live. Great recipe. Thanks.
Hi Rebecca! Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, when it comes to zucchini season we have to think and act quickly, every season I come up with couple of new recipes.
Hi Maria! Carrots, love your choice! With addition of okra water, what a brilliant idea to make these even more fudgy. So glad these turned out good for you. Tell me about the okra water, how do you get it, by soaking the okra?
@@HowToCookSmarter Yes! I soaked the cut okra pods in water overnight and drain them the next day. You'll end up with a slimey water. I make it every night so whenever I feel like taking in extra nutrients for the day, I just gulp some of it 😄
I made these a few days ago, but they tasted much better the next day, and every time I took a bite, I repeated, "OMG, THESE ARE SO MOIST." Thank you!!!
Oh my yummy goodness!!! I didn’t have oat flour so I used a combination of rice flour and thick rolled oats. My version came out more cake like. Thank you!!
Hi April! Thanks so much for trying it out! I would suggest you go with the little bit less rice flour next time, I think your brownies will be more fudgy (it that's what you want).
How To Cook Smarter thank you! I may try that. I have to say this was very well received. I shared the video with a group of my clients. (I’m a health and weight loss coach.)
Just tried making these today, considering I prefer more cake-y than brownie-ish desserts, it was okay :) I didn't have maple syrup so I used my 0kcal cofee syrup, going by your calculations if one piece is 106 kcal, then times nine, minus 200kcal (1/4 cup maple s.) Divided by nine....mine were around 85kcal, so I ate two topped with greek yogurt and strawberries :P it was yummy that way
Great way to use the avalanche of zucchini any backyard vegetable gardener has experienced, especially those zucchini which may have got away from you and gotten too big. Have also used pattypan squash the same way.
This is truly amazing and very inspiring for my own channel! Great editing and clear and concise. Captivating from start to end and improving video by video. I've go some courgettes and definitely will be making this. Thank You
I'm thinking of making this, but changing the recipe a bit. Using a bit less oats and cocoa (100g, 15g), but adding some protein powder to increase the nutritional value.
Hi! Love the idea of boosting the protein here, I should try it too by adding some hemp protein powder I've been using lately. Let me know how it worked for you.
@@HowToCookSmarter I made them today and they turned out great. I implemented the changes and used 2 scoops of chocolate protein. I'm definitely gonna make a second batch, cause half of this one is gone 😋🤤🤤
@TrauKeinem BlackHawk Yeah . I made them a while ago. and Carob just isn't it in this case. They tasted like Pumpernickel (which I do like, but not when I want a brownie) Sadly I can't eat cocoa in any form... so no brownies for me
Hello, hello! You're very welcome! Hope you'll enjoy healthier zucchini brownies guys! These are just perfect for kids! Let me know did you like the recipe. By the way, I'm making these again, but with some protein powder inside.
Waiting patiently for my zucchini to be ready to harvest. I will definitely be making this! I think oat flour makes the best brownies anyway. I can't wait to try the zucchini twist!
Hi there! Having these with homegrown zucchini, I mean you just can't make it better. We don't have much in our garden, just a bad season for zucchini here, or bad seeds we got (who knows). Hope you'll like the recipe!
Thanks for sharing... I made it yesterday and it turned out great!! Zucchini in it is misery as I only taste chocolate and oats.. And I really don’t think I can store it for one week.. half of brownies is already gone in a day 😜

Right, but eating a 1" brownie isn't typically considered eating a brownie. It's more like eating a *bite* of a brownie.

Hi! Thanks for your feedback! Sure, there will be more low calorie recipe coming up soon. I love these too!
I love these so much!!! I just made these for the second time today, and they are incredible! Thanks so much for this tremendous recipe! ^^
Thanks so much for your feedback Gregory!
Oh wow, a must try. I was excited that you could make them with flax seeds as well. Thank you!
Hi Suzzane! So glad you like the recipe, hope you'll give it a try! Thanks for checking in!
@@HowToCookSmarter I just made them....used carob powder, but I must tell you they are really good! Thank you!
@@bookmouse2719 Carob powder, what an idea! We have it here, but use just in traditional recipes, which is quite rarely. Thanks for your feedback!
Hi there Sara! Thanks so much for sending over your lovely feedback! So glad you enjoyed these zucchini brownies guys! Take care!
Great recipe! Also, I love how you said to replace the egg for a flax egg to make them vegan, and vegan people don't have to guess if it will work or not :)
Hi Alexandra! Thanks for your feedback!
I have a guest coming over who is gluten free so these are great, plus I know I'll love them too.
Hi there Julia! Thanks so much for your lovely feedback! I'm truly happy you enjoyed these brownies. Take care!
Holy smokes are these things good and the family thinks so too! 10/10 would highly recommend
I told my mom to get zucchini ASAP! i'm making these very soon, thanks for sharing! 🥰❤❤❤
Hi there! Definitely one of the best ways to have your zucchini! Hope you'll enjoy the recipe!
Hi there! Thanks so much for your amazing feedback! I'm so happy my recipes work for you. Let me know how you liked these.
All the effort he put into these videos, amazing.
Hi Ozge! Thanks for your support!
Another classic recipe! I’m going to try this tomorrow and resist eating too many
Hi Wincey! Thanks for checking it out! Let me know did you like these brownies.
They are lovely really trying not to over indulge. I love them and in danger of making them often
So good! Thank you.
Hi Sheila! Thanks so much for your feedback! I agree, these brownies make such a great healthy option for breakfast. Take care!
Just made this and it's delicious! Keep up the great work!!
Awesome! Thanks for trying it out and sending over your feedback!
Thank you for the recipe of brownies🙂. I baked it today. The taste is very chocolaty, moderately sweet, texture is nice and fudgy
Hi Anna! Thanks so much for your feedback! So glad you enjoyed the brownies!
I’m really impressed! Such a good recipe
Subscribed. It's great to see such a variety of options, and without compromising flavor! Also, your voice+accent = yes please! :)
Hi there! Thanks for joining and sending over this lovely feedback! So glad you like the videos!
I tried this recipe and it is amazing and the zucchini really worked
Thanks for trying these out!
Instead of oats I used roasted finger millet flour
Instead of egg and added flax seed powder mixed with water
Instead of maple syrup i used jaggery powder.
Skipped apple sauce its costly and don't find it easily where i live.
Great recipe. Thanks.
Hi there! Thanks for your feedback! Love your take on this recipe!
This is perfect, all my zucchini are ready for picking at the same time, so I need a few ideas to get them used up!!!
Hi Rebecca! Thanks for checking it out! Yeah, when it comes to zucchini season we have to think and act quickly, every season I come up with couple of new recipes.
I made these with carrots instead of zuchini and they're amazing! Super moist and fluffy because I added okra water since they were kinda thick
I make it every night so whenever I feel like taking in extra nutrients for the day, I just gulp some of it 😄
@@Maria-hm3gi Wow, love it! Do you use lefotver okra for cooking?
@@HowToCookSmarter I feel like it's such a waste to throw away the pods so I just boil/steam them and eat them 😅
@@Maria-hm3gi Definitely agree with you! I would make some gumbo with these!
Awesome recipe. Thank you for sharing 🤩🥰🙏
I just tried it and it tastes absolutely delicious!! I love your recipes THANK YOU & can't wait to try more xx
Hi Sarah! Thanks so much for your lovely feedback!
Thanks for the lovely and healthy recipe. I can't wait to try baking it. Well done!
Hi Joan! Thanks for checking it out! Hope you'll enjoy these healthier brownies!
Thanks for having a vegan option to sub for the egg.
This was life changing- thank u SO MUCH 4 sharing :’D
I made these a few days ago, but they tasted much better the next day, and every time I took a bite, I repeated, "OMG, THESE ARE SO MOIST." Thank you!!!
Hi there! Thanks so much for your feedback! I enjoyed these better the next day too.
Is it baking powder or baking soda? The words on the screen say “soda” but you said powder”. Just want to double check! TYFS - looks so delicious!
Very original recipe!! I love your channel!!
Hi! Thanks for your feedback!
Looks good! Always a fan of making desserts healthier.
Thanks for watching!
@@aprildennis2804 Wow, that's awesome! Thanks for sharing my recipe!
I have been looking for a good recipe for zucchini brownies and I looove your recipes! Going to def give this a try
Hi Tanya! That would be great! Thanks for checking it out!
Looks so yummy! I never fail to be amazed by your recipes! Thank you for what you do to help people eat smarter 😊✌🏼
Running to the grocery stores., I love your editing on your videos
Hi there! Thanks for the feedback!
Hi there! Avalanche of zucchini, love it:) You're so right, you just need a various recipes to fully enjoy the zucchini season and not get bored.
This is truly amazing and very inspiring for my own channel! Great editing and clear and concise. Captivating from start to end and improving video by video. I've go some courgettes and definitely will be making this. Thank You
Hi there James! Thanks so much for such amazing feedback, I appreciate all the support! Keep it up with your channel, it's a great start!
@@DoktorrFlow Great news! Thanks for the feedback!
Made this today, was great! Any tips to get them a bit fudgier as I had a more fluffy, Cakey texture. Thanks again, love your channel!
Hi there! Fudgier brownies, well, I would say bake for 5 minutes less, or add 2-3 tbsp water if you find your batter too thick.
I'm gonna try to make these with carob instead of cocoa. Can't wait 😊
Hope you liked these!
@TrauKeinem BlackHawk Yeah . I made them a while ago. and Carob just isn't it in this case. They tasted like Pumpernickel (which I do like, but not when I want a brownie) Sadly I can't eat cocoa in any form... so no brownies for me
I made a sweet potatoe brownie today which was amazing. But I will be trying this one next!!! Thanks for Sharing
Hi Lucelia! Sweet potato brownie, so love the idea, never had one before! Hope you'll like the zucchini brownie as well. Thanks for watching!
oh my!! I need to make these! I love brownies and zucchini bread always taste so good! thank you for sharing!
Hi! Thanks for checking it out! Exactly, these are like brownies and zucchini bread in one!
Thank you for the recipe :) My son will love these! Gonna make it in the morning.
I definitely love this and love your channel every video more and more ❤ stay healthy stay happy what better than that 🙌🙏
Hi Laura! Thanks so much for your lovely feedback! I'm so happy you find my recipes interesting. Stay healthy, stay happy!
Looks amazing but there’s an error at 1:00, you say to add baking powder but the recipe calls for soda. I didn’t think the two were interchangeable.
Hi there Michael! Thanks for letting me know about this. It was a type in my script. Anyway use baking soda for this recipe.
Thanks a million for another amazing recipe!
Hi Lubov! Thanks so much again, I appreciate your comments!
Thanks for sharing... I made it yesterday and it turned out great!! Zucchini in it is misery as I only taste chocolate and oats..
And I really don’t think I can store it for one week.. half of brownies is already gone in a day 😜
Hi there! Thanks for giving it a try with these brownies! You're right, you can't really taste the zucchini in these brownies. Glad you enjoy these!
Excellent presentation. Thank you
