@@RobertDudzic I am loving it! Been messing with it for two days straight. Inspired me to start playing my acoustic again. It sounds so good recorded with the on board mics. Great work and thank you for showing us what it can do.
This is such an amazing device and in your talented hands it’s showing all it’s power 😊 thank you for this amazing video and we will be waiting for the series 😊
Robert Dudzic sounds very Polish. I'm from Poland, and work in video games industry as sound designer for few years. Want to get into film industry, but so far no luck. Your videos are always great inspiration. Take care.
Thankyou for the great demonstration. I wanted to buy a portable recorder recently, and am glad I have held off to research further. There are so many considerations. I have read many dozens of reviews on all the recorders I can find. By far the best way for me to make a final decision is simply to listen to actually recordings. The soundstage in these recordings sounds remarkable. I love the detail, stereo image and the big beautiful bottom end is surprising. I am now leaning towards the X8 most strongly for my first purchase in this arena for field recordings. I also like the expandability with XLR inputs and the 32bit capability makes this a class above many of the other options in this price range. Thanks again.
I subscribed today! Your talent is AMAZING! thank you so much for sharing. I'm so happy to have stumbled across your incredible channel. I've just been devouring all of your videos and shorts. Thank you from Seattle!!
Thanks Robert. Very cool review. I was thinking of getting an H5 or H6, but I'll probably wait for the X8. I also much prefer warmer and bigger sounds, so I think this is the one for me. Much appreciated.
Brilliant sound design as well. Love IT Now I know how you added the shotgun to the unit in your last review. I didn't realize there was a hotshoe in the unit. Very cool On my wishlist
Nice video, and more training for the poor unfortunate tractors in the museum... ;) The mini tripod you recommend is not available everywhere in Europe, here you can get a mini tripod called CamLink CL-TP300. Looking forward to more videos of the X8! THX!
Thanks for the great information and I love your explanations and honesty, I'm learning and getting inspired by your work and gratitude for your talent. Enjoy the day!
Thank You. I have ZOOM H1 and H6 after starting playing with TASCAM I quickly realize my sound was warmer and fell bigger. I ending selling my H1 and H6 on ebay. That was ling time ago.
Hello, very cool and pleasant sounds. I want to ask. You bring the microphone so close to the sound source that it seems it should be right next to it. But it sounds voluminous and distant, as if a reverb was used, is it so?
Hi, the pistol grip that you use, how did you manage to keep the Altura grip from covering your cold snow slot? I saw that you recommended the altura, I got it, but it’s covering my slot, I can slide my shotgun grip attachment on. Did you by chance cut your grip? Just curious?
Sounds good, taking a blow torch and razor blade helped me cut thru the plastic very easily (of course while using safety protection gloves/goggles) cheers for the quick response!
Intresting recorder, my question is, How these mic preamps compare to those on Sound Devices Mixpre series, for using both recorders in the same proyect. Thank you for your time.
Yes, and i spend lot time at this location. This session was for filming and demonstrate quality of the recorder on his own with out any additional mics connect in.
For sound effects recording, interviews, podcasts, etc it looks great. How about 4CH field recording using ambisonic mic like Rode NT-SF1? As far as I've seen most of the presets are designed for stereo so manual mode is the only one way. Looking forward to test it at Poland🙂
Hi I do most of my recordings on manual, like to have lot control and do my own settings. I speak direct with TASCAM in Japan and US and asked about adding Ambisonics. I just have no Idea when will happen.
I just got me one thanks for the info! is there any inside in the setup you use to record audio on this im not sound expert but you master this well thanks
Hi, Not really. This is really great recorder, make shore you will setup you recording setting for 96khz 32bit flat and that will give you a lot headroom for recording loud sounds and high quality of recordings😊
This review is something new for me in terms of reviewing things :-) it is also great performance ! X8 sound is perfect - I am curious if this sounds were gated within onboard gate or so? sound is amazing
Thank You. No any gate all i did was controlling the levels and additionally adjust them when i was editing video to have similar loudness and meet UA-cam requirements for streaming.
I have an idea for a video, use the Portacapture X8 in XY stereo configuration and use a figure 8 mic underneath instead of a shotgun for a fuller mid side recording? Then process like a mid side recording? Do you think this would work? Or really have no benefit?
Your videos are always a real moment of pleasure, thanks! I'm wondering where the noise is coming in the shots at the end, like this one for example: ua-cam.com/video/4T85kzNoYVU/v-deo.html
I thought he was kidding about the farm equipment but he was not. And now I can't stop listening to it. I think I need the X8.
Thank You, you will love this recorder😊

Very extraordinary
Excellent
Sounds quality is pretty incredible. Was going to grab a Zoom f6 but def grabbing this instead.
The are two completely different sounding units. I think you will like Portacature X8 much us I do.
Excellent! The 32-bit float is a huge seller for me. Lot of run and gun one man crew interviews that you only get one shot to get right.
I cant wait to buy one of these recorders.
Soon
Mind blowing 😂😂😂
The tripod is great, thank you for the hint!
😊

Sounds like terminator. Very nice
Thank You

its amzing 😍😍😍❤️❤️
Congratulations👏😊
❤️❤️
Thank you, just purchased one from zzounds. waiting for it . I will most def use your technique of hand held sound effects recording .
Awesome, you will love this recorder. Enjoy😊
nice video robert, for the shotgun mic which do u prefer mkh 416 or mkh 60 pair with x8
Thank You, I have this mics but stop using years ago and switch to RØDE NT6 and now what in the video NTG5, I like the nice warm tone from RØDE.
what about the ultrasonic noise when recording 96/192khz? how is this affecting your recordings?
great video . its ayear now so whats your take now between that tascam and zoom h6 thanx will be happy to hear from you
The is now reverb. The room where i recorded the sounds is huge and have natural reverb. The is under track play with the sounds to.

Yes, i did little cut to fit.
Sounds good, taking a blow torch and razor blade helped me cut thru the plastic very easily (of course while using safety protection gloves/goggles) cheers for the quick response!
Love your work! How do you prevent handling noise without a shock mount? I am having a terrible time with handling noise with this unit.
Thank You. I have very steady hands and i think this why i have no problems with any shock and i have attach very tide every part to recorder.
@@RobertDudzic thank you.
Intresting recorder, my question is, How these mic preamps compare to those on Sound Devices Mixpre series, for using both recorders in the same proyect. Thank you for your time.
Hi, I really don’t know. I never check the specs, I talk about this in my video.
tascam.com/us/product/portacapture_x8/spec
Hi Robert, interesting video! When recording in a repair shop do you ever use microphones on the other end of the room (for more natural reverb)?
Yes, and i spend lot time at this location. This session was for filming and demonstrate quality of the recorder on his own with out any additional mics connect in.

It would be great to have it. Let's keep fingers crossed.
Any update on ambisonic support?

Hi! Superb Video! How would the Rode Stereo Videomic x sound compared to this?
Thank You, I have no idea you will have try on you own. Sorry
Thanks for your video, have you tried windshield on it?
Thank You, yes i did and its working very well. I only use outside. The mics are very sensitive and i don’t take chances to mess the audio.
I have an idea for a video, use the Portacapture X8 in XY stereo configuration and use a figure 8 mic underneath instead of a shotgun for a fuller mid side recording? Then process like a mid side recording? Do you think this would work? Or really have no benefit?
The best answer will be, you have to experiment with different configuration and chose the one what will work for you.
What do you think of Zoom M3?
Did you create the music from field recordings!?? It’s incredible
Thank You. Yes I do this is one of the reasons i record my own sounds to make my trailer compositions sound unique.
Thanks for this amazing Video! :)
I would like to ask you if you could do a „Voice Over Test“ with the built-in mics? :)
ua-cam.com/channels/YKCbzLPxMgB5RPUGV8_Cbw.htmlvideos and ua-cam.com/video/123kcvQG2E8/v-deo.html
Thank you so much, I’m sorry but I have to pass on this I’m not the voice over the guy I will be setting bad example😂
Have you tried the timecode feature? Looking to jam with a tentacle sync, can’t find information anywhere.
No, I sync my audio to sound.
How good are the microphones compared to the Audio Technica 4025? And how good are the preamps compared to the Zoom F6? Does anyone know?
Im sorry but you asking wrong person, Im not review guy.
Amazon do a decent carry case for it by co2CREA just need a to find something to attach it to my A7 camera.
Why would you add background music on a sample audio recording?
I like this way and this how i do all my vides.
I like the sound of farting under water in a cast iron bathtub in a post-communists Multi-Story slab block

I think i forget mute the original camera audio, I think?
